Megan’s birthday was yesterday (Happy birthday, Megan!), so she had a party last night with her family & friends…ergo she wasn’t awake enough to participate in today’s Remote. But Kyle & I are here to entertain you, so check out what we’re recommending. *grin*
A few years ago, I had a friend who lived in Australia and was able to get me episodes of a show that aired there, called The Block. Teams of two had to renovate apartments in a single building (and later on, separate houses, rather than apartments in the same building), living in the space as they renovated. It was a great show, and my husband & I loved it. FYI just started a series a few weeks ago called Rowhouse Showdown, with a similar concept, except they aren’t living in the houses they’re renovating, which is honestly one of the best parts of the Australian series.
So when HGTV started advertising their latest series, Flipping the Block, I was really excited, especially when I learned it’s the same format as the Australian series. Four teams move into identical living spaces, where they will demo the place and make over the entire home before it goes on the auction block. The winning duo keeps the return on investment, along with a $50,000 cash prize. They’ll be mentored by David Bromstad (first winner of Design Star), Nicole Curtis (Rehab Addict), & Scott McGillivray (Income Property). It should be a lot of fun seeing the pain the teams will have to go through as they live in the messes they’re renovating!
On tonight’s episode, “Welcome to the Block,” four teams are tasked with the job of renovating a dilapidated condo complex for resale in only eight weeks. Their first challenge is to redesign a master bedroom from the floor to the ceiling, and the winner receives $5,000.
See the spaces the teams have to move into and find out who wins the first prize money tonight on HGTV at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Food Network Star, The Last Ship, The Musketeers, Unforgettable, Cutthroat Kitchen, Frankenfood, & Reckless.
