If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/16/13

I finally got a new laptop this weekend, which was long overdue—my old one crashed about 10 times in one use. A big thank you to my fiancé for giving it to me as an early Christmas present. I’m a lucky girl! Now, while I try to figure out how to work my new toy, let’s see what’s on tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

thevoice2013smallWe have reached the final night of competition on The Voice, with the final three singers laying it all on the stage tonight for your votes. Two of my favorites made it through to the finals: Will and Tessanne. I’d be happy with either of them winning. I really hope that Jacquie doesn’t win, because honestly, she’s quite boring and cookie cutter.

On tonight’s episode, “Live Final Performances,” the remaining artists perform for America’s votes for the last time.

To see if these performers can deliver the performances of a lifetime, tune in to NBC tonight at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/25/13

I had a pretty good weekend. Spent time with my boys, playing cards, watching TV and movies, and just enjoying the weekend. I’m glad it’s Monday, though, because even though it’s less busy than normal because of the holiday this week, there’s still plenty on. Check out our recommendations so you know what we consider “can’t miss.”

castle1125smallLast week’s Castle was uber-creepy. Two victims showed up that looked very much like Lanie & Esposito. The story wound around, finally coming back to a killer they thought had died already: 3XK. Of course, no body was ever found then, so… The scariest part was that the Lanie/Espo lookalikes had gone in and signed out all the 3XK case files and all the lab evidence. The plastic surgeon that made the female victim look like Lanie disappeared. Is she working with 3XK? Hmm. I’m sure that’ll come back to haunt them at some point. I guess we’ll see!

On tonight’s episode, “The Good, The Bad & The Baby,” a bleeding man stumbles into a church, but just before dying, he hands a mysterious bundle to the priest. When the bundle turns out to be a smiling baby boy, Castle and Beckett find themselves accidental nannies to the newborn. But when they determine the baby and the victim were not related, they discover that finding his rightful parents may be just as hard as solving the murder.

To see how Castle & Beckett handle having temporary custody of a baby tonight on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Almost Human, How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Major Crimes, Mike & Molly, Sleepy Hollow, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, & The Blacklist.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/18/13

What beautiful weather we’ve had the last couple of days. I’m savoring them because we’re past the heat of summer and fall, but we aren’t to the point where we had to turn the heater on yet. (Almost, but not quite… LOL When it got down to 18 at night, the space heater sufficed. 😉 ) But the last two days, we’ve had the windows open in the living room and kitchen, and the breeze that goes through is cool, but not so cold that I’m uncomfortable. Love it. I also love TV tonight. We don’t have Bones, but we do have Almost Human to make up for it. So grab your remotes, because here are our recommendations! 🙂

almosthuman1118smallHow great was the Almost Human premiere last night? I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first. The futuristic look is a lot of fun—all the technology, I mean—and I love the chemistry the cast has. We first met John in the middle of a forced flashback, where he’s gone to a doctor (well, former doctor) to try to recover memories from a year and a half before, when his partner was killed and his leg was blown off. That same explosion put him in a coma for seventeen months. Through one of his forced flashbacks, we saw his ex-girlfriend…as one of the bad guys. Is that truly a memory, or is it his mind playing tricks on him? I guess we’ll find out.

On tonight’s episode, “Skin,” Detective John Kennex and Dorian are dispatched to investigate a murder and high-profile missing persons case that lead them into the highly profitable world of IRCs—Intimate Robot Companions—also known as sexbots. Meanwhile, Kennex looks to reconcile a part of his troubled past.

See what Kennex has to face about his past tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/14/13

Anyone have $600 they can spare? *sigh* I’ve been having keyboard issues on my laptop, so I ordered a new one. It had to ship from China. Then we got it, only to find it didn’t fit, even though my laptop model was on the list of compatible ones. Okay, fine, was going to have to ship it back to China and get a new one shipped to me. Then…my power cord port into the laptop started having issues connecting. Since this is between 4-5 years old, I have to face facts that I’m going to have to pony up the money to get a new one. *cry* I can’t afford that—what with Christmas, a whole whopping load of family birthdays over the next three months, and my son starting some medical stuff that will cost us a ton of money, even after insurance. (We already owe $1100 for tests!) So yeah, needless to say, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. It’s a good thing that there’s some great TV on tonight to distract me! Here’s what we’re recommending!

castle1014smallLast week’s Castle ended Beckett’s career in D.C., and I couldn’t be happier. I enjoyed her time there—in fact, I think that would make an AWESOME spin-off—but I missed the gang being back together. We got hints of that last week as Beckett and McCord worked in NYC with/against Castle & the boys, but in the end, when Beckett did the right thing for the witness, it cost her her job. Of course, then we had the cute moment of Castle telling her he’d bought them an apartment in D.C. and he was moving up there because he could work from anywhere. I’m excited to see how Beckett gets her job back, as well as see how the new guy either stays or goes, and to see if Lanie FINALLY makes an appearance! On a side note, I really wasn’t pleased with how McCord fired Beckett. Standing there in the doorway, with the door open, and loud for anyone inside or out of the apartment to hear. Rude, much?

On tonight’s episode, “Number One Fan,” a desperate young murder suspect, Emma Briggs (guest star Alicia Lagano, The Client List), takes hostages at gunpoint, then mysteriously insists that she will only negotiate with one person: Richard Castle. Billy Miller (The Young and the Restless) also guest stars.

Find out why the murder suspect wants to speak with Castle tonight on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/30/13

It’s the last day of September, and the month is going out with a bang today with some fantastic new episodes. We’re here to give you our recommendations on what you should be watching. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

castle930smallI absolutely loved last week’s Castle. He made up for his seemingly lackluster proposal with the explanation that it was the most serious thing he’d ever done and that it wasn’t a ploy to get her to stay in NYC and not take the job in D.C., that they would work it out whatever she decided to do. Of course, the separation didn’t come easy to either of them, but Castle was definitely missing out on partnering with Beckett—so much so that he couldn’t help but butt in on her case when she accidentally left a photo out of the file as she left the apartment to go to work. So when he found it, he talked Ryan & Espo into helping him. That was the one thing I missed in the premiere, was the whole team working together. I like Beckett’s new partner in D.C., but I can’t wait until she’s back in NY. Of course, then there was Pi, Alexis’s new boyfriend… He’s quite the character. I don’t dislike him, really, but he was kind of annoying, and I don’t like him with Alexis. *shrug* Finally, the episode ended in a cliffie, with Castle infected with the same thing that killed their suspect. He only has twenty-four hours to live. Eek! 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Dreamworld,” continuing from the season premiere episode, Beckett races against time to find a stolen toxin capable of killing tens of thousands of people. To make matters worse, Castle was exposed, leaving him with less than 24 hours to live. Lisa Edelstein guest stars.

Find out how they save Castle and find the stolen toxin tonight on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Bones, How I Met Your Mother, We Are Men, 2 Broke Girls, Sleepy Hollow, Mom, & The Blacklist.
