If We Control Your Remote… 5/13/13

Welcome to another Monday. Did you have a good weekend? Mine went way too fast—but don’t they always? I know my husband’s not looking forward to going back to work, but one good thing about the new week: Great new shows. There’s a lot on tonight, so we’re going to attempt to highlight what we recommend you watch.

Jenny’s Choice #1

castle513smallLast week’s Castle was a great one. The story was interesting—although finding out it was the son that killed his father kind of sucked. That kid was SERIOUSLY screwed in the head…—and the humor was spot-on. I loved Beckett and Castle hitting the dirt when they were fired on by a drone. Then Castle saying he’d been the one to shoot it down and Beckett had missed was hysterical. The funniest part had to be Beckett’s amusement as she scared the pants off him with the remote control tank & helicopter in bed. I loved it.

The end of the episode set up tonight’s, sadly, season finale, when the federal agent they’d been working with on the case told Beckett he wanted her to interview for a position with the Attorney General. The job would take her away from Castle, away from New York City. It would be a huge leap professionally for her, but she obviously can’t leave. The show wouldn’t exist without Castle & Beckett both. Will she decide she wants to pursue the job (even though we know, in the end, she won’t take it), and if so, what will that mean for our favorite couple, especially so soon after Beckett’s ILY? I’m both dreading and anticipating tonight’s episode. I can only hope I come away happier and more satisfied than I did with the Bones finale.

On tonight’s episode, “Watershed,” an interview with a high-profile federal law enforcement agency forces Beckett to reconsider what she wants out of her job—and out of her relationship with Castle. Meanwhile, the body of a young woman is found floating inside the water tank of a skid row flop house, but as the team investigate, they discover that her final resting place is just one of many strange things about her death. Kyle Secor (Commander-in-Chief, Philly, Homicide: Life on the Street), Scott Paulin, Niko Nicotera, Stacy Edwards (Chicago Hope, Santa Barbara), & Mekenna Melvin (Chuck) guest star.

See if Beckett and Castle can survive this bump in their relationship tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/24/12

I hope you are all ready to put your lives on hold, because the new season of TV is about to roar to life starting tonight, and you are going to need a lot of extra time to keep up with all the insanely awesome shows. Let’s see what we think you should be watching.

I am so incredibly excited that Hawaii Five-0 is back tonight—for many, many reasons! Of course, there’s the fact that Alex O’Loughlin is my boyfriend, but besides that…this show left us with a crazy cliffhanger. When we left the show, Chin Ho had the choice between saving his wife or saving his cousin, Kono—and after choosing his wife Malia, he realizes he’s screwed regardless, and Kono is dumped into the ocean. Will she live? Will his wife survive her gunshot wound? Who knows, but what we did find out was that Steve’s mother isn’t actually dead and that was a shock that I can’t wait to have explained. [Note from Jenny: It’s a CRAZY episode, and you won’t want to miss a moment! Seriously!]

On tonight’s premiere, “La O Na Makuahine (Mother’s Day),” McGarrett is dealing with the realization that his mother is back from the dead. Meanwhile, Five-0 hunts for Wo Fat to avenge the death of a team family member.

To see who survives, tune in to CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hawaii Five-0 @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Bones, 2 Broke Girls, Revolution, Partners, The Voice, The Mob Doctor, and Mike & Molly.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/14/12

It’s a crazy night of finales tonight, with 7 network shows heading off for the season, and with the renewal news coming Saturday for Two and a Half Men, everyone can relax, because all 7 will be returning next season. To help you wade through the mass of shows airing tonight, check out our recommendations on what to watch.

Last week’s episode of Bones was one of my favorite in a long while. The case was rather uninteresting in and of itself, but the writers did a hell of a job making it funny. Booth and Brennan went to Hollywood to check out the filming of Brennan’s book-turned-movie. While there, they discovered that one of the prop “corpses” was a real dead guy. What cracked me up was the combination of names from show runners Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan. The victim was named Hanson Stephens, and oddly enough, when Angela did the facial work up, he looked VERY similar to Mr. Hart Hanson himself. I also loved that Dr. Douglas Filmore, the podiatrist from “Feet on the Beach,” was the movie’s scientific expert. That was a great throw back to a fun episode from the past. He turned out to be a great help, surprising Bones. The other really funny thing was when one of the actors recognized Cam from a movie she did in New York, called “Invasion of the Mother Suckers.” Hodgins flipped out and begged Angela to find the movie. After some digging, she was able to get her hands on the last remaining hard copy in existence apparently, and much to Cam’s chagrin, the team all sat down together to watch her movie debut as a vampire who gets staked. It was fantastic. The squints were all disappointed because they wanted to be on film, and much to Hodgins’ delight, since they were all such a huge help in solving the case, even remotely, Bones told them they got to appear in the film. Of course, they all got blown up, but still!

Of course, all that fun can only lead into one thing this week…and that is total angsty drama. From everything I’ve been reading and hearing, fans should be worried, scared, and on the edge of their seats for what’s to come tonight. Max is back, as is Pelant, who is supposed to be their scariest foe yet (I dunno…we’ll see, I guess. lol). Plus, Michael Grant Terry tweeted the other day that his character of Wendell (my favorite squintern!) is back tonight, so yay! I’m sad this is the season finale, and I’m worried about too much angst between Booth & Brennan after they have been doing so well, but like I said last week, I have to have faith in Hart, Stephen, and the other writers & show runners. I’m keeping my tissues handy, though, just in case!

On tonight’s episode, “The Past in the Present,” evil tech genius Christopher Pelant (guest star Andrew Leeds), a suspect in a previous case Brennan and Booth handled, is back in court on appeal. Knowing what he is capable of, Brennan and Booth inform the judge that he is a suspect in two murder cases. Then, Brennan and Booth are called to the scene of a new murder. After determining the victim is Brennan’s friend, who also is linked to Pelant, the Jeffersonian team works to prove he is guilty once and for all. But when law enforcement examines the team’s findings, key pieces of evidence are tied to Brennan and suspicion falls on her.

Don’t miss it tonight on FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bones @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/27/12

This year, February sweeps have been knocking the storylines out of the park. For example, last week’s Glee was heartwrenching and the music was excellent. This week, there isn’t a new Glee, as it’s gone on hiatus for a few weeks—but fear not, there are still plenty of shows to keep you satisfied.

At first, I was pretty hesitant to like Smash, because it was another singing show and my heart belongs to Glee. However, I couldn’t resist the pull of the show, and before I knew it, I was hooked. The cast is amazing, and I’m pleased to say that I was surprised at Katharine McPhee’s acting ability—she’s actually very good in her role as the underdog, Karen. I want Karen and Ivy to share the role of Marilyn, and while I see the foreshadowing of this—I have to wonder if maybe it’s just too obvious to be what is going to happen. Hmm. What are your thoughts?

Last week, we saw Karen go home for a visit and finally warm her dad’s heart to her singing when she sang at a karaoke baby shower (awesome idea, in my opinion!). He sent her back to New York with his blessings and some funds to help her along. We also met the sexy Michael (Will Chase), who will be playing Joe DiMaggio—but who has a past sexual history with Julia. There is some awesome sexual tension between them, but seeing as they are both in other relationships, it makes for delicious drama. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “The Cost of Art,” Karen must learn to advance in the high-stakes world of Broadway, as Derek hosts a party for hot young star Lyle (guest star Nick Jonas). Eileen tries a sly new strategy for raising funds, while Tom goes on a first date.

To see how Nick Jonas fits in with the cast, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Smash @ Clicker.

I’ll also be DVRing and watching 2 Broke Girls, Hart of Dixie, Alcatraz, Hawaii Five-0, and The Voice.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/16/12

It’s going to be a busy week of television, which is a double-edged sword. I’m always happy with more new episodes, but it also means that I’m juggling to try to keep up on everything. These are the issues of a TV addict – can you relate? Tonight, there are a couple of series premieres, as well as the return of a few favorites, so let’s take a look at what you should be watching.

In case you haven’t heard the awesome news, there is going to be a two night crossover event between Hawaii Five-0 and NCIS: LA in May. How fabulous is that? Seeing as those are two of my favorite shows, I am beyond excited. Unfortunately, that’s not until May, so let’s talk about the now.

Last time we saw our favorite Hawaiian crime fighters, there were so many issues swirling around between McGarrett and Joe. All we know for sure is that Joe isn’t being honest, and that’s a surefire way to upset Steve. Those two are so much alike, it’s scary.

On tonight’s episode, “Pu’olo,” McGarrett is rocked to his core when Chin Ho tells him some shocking news about Joe White. Meanwhile, Danny plays mid-wife for his ex-wife when she goes into labor early.

Tune in to CBS at 10/9c to enjoy this game changing episode. Learn where to find episodes online of Hawaii Five-0 @ Clicker.
