If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/3/14

I’m back after some technical difficulties yesterday with my Internet and satellite. Honestly, if I had a choice where I live, I would no longer deal with the company I’m with, but seeing as I live in the boonies, I’m stuck with this stuff. Anyway, enough about my disdain for my satellite provider… Let’s take a look at what we’re recommending on television tonight.

Megan’s Choice

thevoicelogosmallI don’t remember a season of The Voice that has been quite as full of talented singers and amazing coaches. Honestly, this group of four is the best mix yet in my opinion. Now, we all know that I absolutely ADORE Adam Lavigne (if you haven’t checked out Maroon 5’s newest album, you should—it’s fantastic…), but as much as I love Adam, his choice last week to keep Damian and eliminate Toia Jones was ridiculous. Damian sang a very, very sleepy version of Trisha Yearwood’s “How Do I Live,” while Toia dominated the stage with Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.” Unfortunately, Pharrell had already used his steal, or I’m sure he’d have stolen Toia back because he was loving that performance. Overall, that was the only moment of last week’s knockout rounds that I didn’t agree with, but it was a big one, so I hope that this week, Adam doesn’t let me down again—and yes, frankly, it is all about me.

On tonight’s episode, “The Knockouts Part 3,” we watch as more talented singers bring it all to the stage and how they put the time of one-on-one coaching from Taylor Swift to use.

To see if Adam redeems himself after his stupidity last week, tune in to NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Sleepy Hollow, Gotham, 2 Broke Girls, Jane the Virgin, Scorpion, The Blacklist, and NCIS: LA.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/13/14

I’ll probably be watching the KC Royals baseball game tonight live… They’re going for the third game in the ALCS Championship against the Baltimore Orioles, so go Royals! But there’s plenty on besides baseball. Megan is celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving and spending time with her family, so check out what Kyle & I are recommending.

Jenny’s Choice

ncisla1013smallI just recommended NCIS: LA last week, but I gotta run with it again this week because we’re in the middle of a crazy story line. Last week, Hetty was in Washington for the Congressional hearing about her actions in sending Kensi to Afghanistan, although really, they seem to be gunning for her for more than just that—specifically Branston Cole, the old KGB operative she stashed in a nursing home until he died. She, predictably, gave them nothing…to the detriment of her team, since she irritated Special Congressional Investigator Michael Thomas to the point that he sent the DOJ to investigate the team. Granted, I’m sure that would’ve happened however Hetty reacted, but still… The team did everything they could to stay away from the woman running the investigation—the best part was when Eric tried to sneak through the gym, only to have Nell pull the power, and then his explanation into what the problem was. The case had some great points (mainly Kensi & Deeks in the morgue with the body and Deeks’s T-shirt, as well as Eric arguing against staying in the room by himself), and it was interesting, but still, the main story line was Hetty and the DOJ investigation—and since the case led to Hetty, that was definitely an interesting tie-in.

The previews for tonight’s episode look fun and scary and exciting. Hetty’s in danger, the team is still dealing with the DOJ, and after last week’s sparring scene, it seems like Kensi & Deeks are getting past the awkwardness that happened when she first got home from Afghanistan. I can’t wait for tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “Praesidium,” the team takes action to protect one of their own while being interrogated by the Department of Justice. Meanwhile, Nell goes undercover as Hetty, and Director Leon Vance gives Hetty disturbing news while she is in Washington. Rocky Carroll (NCIS) guest stars.

To see why Nell pretends to be Hetty, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Dancing with the Stars, Rewrapped, Mystery Diners, Scorpion, Castle, & House vs. House.
