If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/24/13

It’s Monday, which means work for a lot of people, but it also means some fantastic new TV, so that helps soften the blow of the weekend being over. JJ’s still without internet, Megan’s at the hospital with her stepdaughter, who’s having surgery on her knee, so it’s just Kyle & me again today. But we’ve got a couple of great choices for you, including a new show on CBS that looks like it’ll be amazing, so let’s get to it.

kingmaxwell624smallI’m REALLY digging the new show King & Maxwell. Jon Tenney & Rebecca Romijn are fantastic as the great team of PIs. They have a great relationship—working & non-working—& great chemistry together. The FBI agents (at least Rigby) is a douche, but I think he’ll slowly come around to at least respect the work they do. His partner, Carter, is kind of hysterical. He knows Sean & Michelle are good at what they do, but he’s clearly the newer agent, so he defers to Rigby more often than not. Last week, some of the funniest bits were watching him answer/help Sean & Michelle, much to Rigby’s annoyance. I was also thrilled to see Edgar Roy back. He was so sweet and adorable at the end, making up a desk to fit what he wanted.

On tonight’s episode, “Wild Card,” when FBI Agent Carter is suspended after assaulting an officer, King and Maxwell investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. What they find leads them on a bizarre trail involving clues from Carter’s most recent case. Meanwhile, Sean reveals more about his past as a Secret Service agent and the mistake that led to his downfall.

To see if they can get Carter out of trouble & to learn more about Sean’s past, tune in to TNT at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Glades, Major Crimes, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Longmire, Under the Dome, & Warehouse 13.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/17/13

I hope everyone had a great weekend—and if applicable, I hope you spent time with the special dad in your life. Our Father’s Day was pretty good. I got to catch up on some much-needed sleep while Scott & Josh went to the movies to see Star Trek, and then we made ribs for dinner & played cards while they were cooking. Then after dinner, all of us played Uno for a few minutes and spent some time together as a family. So it was good. But the weekend’s over, which means work…but also some great new TV. So check out what we’re recommending tonight!

majorcrimes617smallI have to admit, until last week’s season premiere, I hadn’t seen a single episode of Major Crimes. I loved The Closer, but I hated the story line with Brenda at the end—against the one “big bad” and then the story about going after her in court…so I quit watching before the show ended. I wasn’t a big fan of Captain Raydor whenever she showed up. But…I’m missing shows like that right now, where there’s more drama & cop stuff than humor (even though I love those shows, like Castle, Bones, & Rizzoli & Isles when it starts up again), so I decided to try it out, figuring the season premiere was a good place to start. I had kind of been keeping up with the show because of the recaps/reviews Lindsay writes on here, so I wasn’t completely lost. I knew about Rusty and about him living with Captain Raydor. So I had some ideas going in. But I was more than pleasantly surprised when it really felt a lot like The Closer always did. The team was strong, there was a bit of humor, and the story was strong. So I can’t wait to continue watching in the hopes that I continue to enjoy.

On tonight’s episode, “False Pretenses,” a complex murder-suicide case has the department reeling. Meanwhile, when Rusty receives a mysterious and threatening letter, Emma demands that he be relocated. Torn between her desire to protect Rusty and professional duty to the case, Raydor is forced to seriously consider Emma’s request.

See if Raydor gives in or fights to keep him with her tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Defiance, The Glades, Longmire, Warehouse 13, Diners, Drive-in & Dives, & King & Maxwell.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/10/13

It’s hard to believe we’re well into the second week of June! I swear, time flies like CAH-RA-ZY! I had a pretty good weekend, although as always, it was way too short. But there’s some great TV on tonight to console me that we have another week before the next weekend comes around, so check out our recommendations. 😉

kingmaxwellasmallI’ve been waiting for tonight for quite a while now. Tonight is the series premiere of TNT’s new drama King & Maxwell. It stars Rebecca Romijn (who I neither love nor hate. I like her well enough…I’ve just never watched much with her in it.) and Jon Tenney, who was my absolute favorite character on The Closer, so that right there excited me. Then there’s the fact that it’s a PI (private investigator) drama with a lot of humor. It’s based on David Baldacci’s popular book characters, Sean King & Michelle Maxwell. Both are former Secret Service agents. They have unique skills (& a great chemistry), that allows them to work well together and solve things the police might have problems with. After King left the Secret Service when the presidential candidate he was assigned to protect was assassinated, he got his law degree, which helps them now, and Maxwell is a “former Olympic athlete who uses her brains, beauty, and Beltway connections to solve cases.” Together, they make a dynamite team.

I got to see the pilot, and I really loved it. It’s absolutely right up my alley—a light, fun, cop show with excellent chemistry between the leads. I can’t wait to rewatch the pilot tonight and see all the new episodes.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” when a lawyer friend of Sean’s is mysteriously murdered, Sean decides to represent an autistic savant and accused serial killer his friend was defending in hopes of discovering what happened to him. Together, King and Maxwell discover a possible plot that has political repercussions.

Jump in with both feet and see if this is a show you’ll enjoy as much as I will tonight on TNT at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Defiance, The Glades, Longmire, Warehouse 13, & The Winner Is….
