If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/18/14

Yesterday was a very long day for me, so I’m extra glad today is Friday. I need the weekend. There’s some good stuff on, so check our Kyle’s and my recommendations. 🙂

lastmanstanding418smallLast Man Standing has been a lot of fun this season. I like that Ryan hasn’t been nearly as annoying recently. I also like that Mandy has an actual direction she is heading now in terms of her future. Some of my favorite scenes, though, are with Mike and his almost-clone, Eve. She can really throw out some good one-liners and snappy comebacks exactly like a snarky teenage girl.

On tonight’s episode, “April Come She Will,” when Vanessa’s mooching sister April comes to visit, Mike suspects it’s because she needs money. Sure enough, April explains that she’s decided to have a baby but doesn’t have the funds for a donor egg. While Vanessa and Mike aren’t on board, Mandy comes up with a solution. Meanwhile at Outdoor Man, Mike tries pulling a prank on Chuck Larabee that gives him some new perspective. Jonathan Adams & Christine Moore guest star.

Find out what solution Mandy comes up with tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing at Unforgettable, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, & Diners, Drive-ins & Dives.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/7/14

It’s the beginning of March Break (spring break) for my kids, and I am trying to come up with fun things to keep them all busy—not an easy task. Maybe some of the new TV on tonight will help kick start my creative thinking. Never know… It could happen. Let’s see what we’re recommending.

Megan’s Choice

hawaiifiveo37smallI don’t know about Hawaii Five-0 kick-starting my creativity, but it definitely brings a smile to my face and amuses me. Last week, the body of a real estate agent was found in the walls of one of his listings, and that was a really creepy thought. Can you imagine if someone was buried behind your drywall? I know… Shivers! It turned out it was the jealous husband of the woman who was going to run away with the real estate agent and leave her husband. The husband, who was a lawyer, also buried his wife in the walls of that house too. On another note, McGarrett was busy protecting Grover from a prying journalist that wanted to expose the reasons behind why Grover left Chicago. Steve saved the day by getting the journalist to drop the story, but he now owns him a favor. Finally, we saw Danny’s mom come to town and announce she’s getting a divorce from his dad because she’s lonely. I could really feel the pain on both sides, but ultimately, I understand why she needs to move on and try to be happy. It was a great episode as usual, and as always, I’m looking forward to more.

On tonight’s episode, “Hoku Welowelo,” Five-0 investigates a triple homicide connected to a downed top-secret Chinese satellite, while Grover takes Danny’s mother on a ride-along.

To see how Danny feels about this ride-along, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Grimm, Blue Bloods, Enlisted, Hannibal, and Say Yes to the Dress.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/13/13

Yesterday, my fiance went into the woods and got us a beautiful Christmas tree—there are definitely advantages to owning land and planting trees. It’s beautiful, and I love the way it makes my house smell like the forest. Now, while I sit here watching TV and enjoying my holiday cheer, let’s see what’s on tonight.

hawaiifiveo1213smallIt’s time for my Friday night date with my TV boyfriend, Alex. Hawaii Five-0 has become my reward on a Friday night after a long week, and what a delicious reward it is. Last episode, we watched as the team had to help make the island safe for the visit of the President, which of course they did with ease because they are just that awesome. We also met Steve’s Aunt Deb (played by the incomparable Carroll Burnett), who surprised the family with a visit. Unfortunately, we found out later that she really came because she has brain cancer and needs to say her goodbyes—it was a bittersweet episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Ho’onani Makuakane,” an attempted murder leads the team to investigate a deadly crime committed in Hawaii during World War II.

To see what the team uncovers about the past, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/18/13

October is just flying by, and I really wish it wouldn’t, because that means I need to start Christmas shopping soon. (Between you and me, my bank account is begging me not to shop. LOL) On a bright note, this television season has been going strong since the beginning, and it shows no sign of slowing down. Let’s see what’s on to keep you entertained on this Friday night—or setting your DVR for so that you can go out on the town. 🙂

bluebloods1018smallBlue Bloods was so incredibly good last week. I loved seeing Erin and Jack in the courtroom together, and I especially loved seeing Jack being protective over Erin when Delgado took the courtroom hostage. There’s a lot of work to be done between Erin and Jack if they ever plan on really being back together again, but who knows. Sometimes, where there was love once, there can be love again. I also really enjoyed Jamie’s story line, where he stood up to his superior in order to do what he felt was right and go with the little boy to the hospital. It was the right call, and it was another glance into the awesome character that Jamie is. This show hasn’t let me down yet, and I don’t think it’s ever going to.

On tonight’s episode, “The Truth About Lying,” a teen girl dies after she is seemingly pushed in front of a subway car by a homeless man; Frank is irritated by having to meet with the new Inspector General (Bebe Neuwirth).

To find out why the homeless man did it, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Hawaii Five-0, What Not to Wear, and MasterChef: Junior.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/20/13

TGIF! It’s been kind of a long week for everyone, I think, and it was only tempered by a few premieres. (The big push on premieres is next week. Wow!) But tonight, there are a couple more premieres, and I couldn’t be more excited. So Kyle & I are here to tell you what we recommend. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

lastmanstandingsmallIt may not be the critics’ popular choice for comedy, but I’ve loved Last Man Standing since episode one. So I’m thrilled that tonight is the third season premiere. In last season’s finale, party girl Mandy got accepted to two colleges, much to everyone’s surprise, and of course chose a party school. When Kristin heard that Mandy had gotten the acceptance letters, she decided it was time to change her life—she may have been a teenage mother, but she didn’t want to be a waitress and live with her parents for the rest of her life. So she and Boyd moved out, and she’s reevaluating where she wants to go next. Meanwhile, Eve was practicing for her Junior ROTC competition.

On tonight’s episode, “Back to School,” Mike finds that Mandy’s steady boyfriend Kyle’s new interest in philosophy is distracting him from his work at The Outdoor Man Store. A solution may be in the offing when camo-wearing and regular customers Brody and Uncle Ray come to the sporting goods store to get outfitted for their annual moose hunting expedition. Meanwhile, Mike is skeptical about his grandson Boyd attending a bilingual school and wants Kristin and Ryan to switch Boyd to a school in his neighborhood. Willie Robertson & Si Robertson (Duck Dynasty) guest star.

To see the Duck Dynasty boys in action with Tim Allen, tune in to ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Neighbors.
