If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/27/12

This year, February sweeps have been knocking the storylines out of the park. For example, last week’s Glee was heartwrenching and the music was excellent. This week, there isn’t a new Glee, as it’s gone on hiatus for a few weeks—but fear not, there are still plenty of shows to keep you satisfied.

At first, I was pretty hesitant to like Smash, because it was another singing show and my heart belongs to Glee. However, I couldn’t resist the pull of the show, and before I knew it, I was hooked. The cast is amazing, and I’m pleased to say that I was surprised at Katharine McPhee’s acting ability—she’s actually very good in her role as the underdog, Karen. I want Karen and Ivy to share the role of Marilyn, and while I see the foreshadowing of this—I have to wonder if maybe it’s just too obvious to be what is going to happen. Hmm. What are your thoughts?

Last week, we saw Karen go home for a visit and finally warm her dad’s heart to her singing when she sang at a karaoke baby shower (awesome idea, in my opinion!). He sent her back to New York with his blessings and some funds to help her along. We also met the sexy Michael (Will Chase), who will be playing Joe DiMaggio—but who has a past sexual history with Julia. There is some awesome sexual tension between them, but seeing as they are both in other relationships, it makes for delicious drama. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “The Cost of Art,” Karen must learn to advance in the high-stakes world of Broadway, as Derek hosts a party for hot young star Lyle (guest star Nick Jonas). Eileen tries a sly new strategy for raising funds, while Tom goes on a first date.

To see how Nick Jonas fits in with the cast, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Smash @ Clicker.

I’ll also be DVRing and watching 2 Broke Girls, Hart of Dixie, Alcatraz, Hawaii Five-0, and The Voice.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/20/12

I started to say something about happy beginning of the work week, until I remembered that a lot of people have a long weekend and are off today because of President’s Day. If you’re working, I’m sorry. If you’re not, then yay! lol Some great stuff on tonight, so check out what we think you must watch!

Tonight is the second part of the Castle two-parter. I will be honest and say I haven’t watched part one yet. On special episodes like this, I almost always wait until both parts have aired before watching them. I did read some reviews, and most people enjoyed the episode last week (as if I had any doubts about it… lol). I even saw a few people wonder if this was kind of a backdoor pilot into a new CIA show starring Jennifer Beals. I haven’t heard any official word about that, so I have no idea if it’s true, but it would be kind of cool. That’s my favorite type of show, generally. I doubt that’s what’s going on, though. Anyway, if you watched last week, comment below and let me know if you enjoyed it and plan to watch tonight’s conclusion.

On tonight’s episode, “Linchpin,” in the explosive conclusion of a two-part story arc that began last week with “Pandora,” Castle & Beckett race to find the “Linchpin” in order to stop the first domino in a chain of events which will plunge the United States into war.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to watch/DVR a big list of shows: the CBS comedies, Castle, Hawaii Five-0, The Voice, Alcatraz, Lost Girl, & Pawn Star$.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/13/12

Mondays are always a drag, because they mean the start of the work week (well, except for my dad, who celebrates his first week of being retired today by heading off to Florida). However, there’s tons of great TV on tonight to look forward to at the end of the work day. Read on to see some of the shows we recommend you tune in to tonight!

I can’t wait for tonight’s new episode of Smash! I had originally watched the pilot weeks ago, so it will be nice to finally get a new episode. Last week, we saw the beginnings of Marilyn: The Musical—from the initial songs, to the hiring of the director and the start of the cast auditions. Will it be Karen or Ivy who is cast as Marilyn? I like the theory posed by @TVKel on Twitter, that they could both play the part—Karen as Norma Jean and Ivy as Marilyn. The music on this show is great and well integrated into the story. Watching last week’s train wreck of a Glee episode (the Spanish teacher one) showed me just how much I really welcome and appreciate this show and want it to fill that space that Glee once was.

In tonight’s episode, “The Callback,” Derek makes the audition process rigorous for Karen and Ivy. Elsewhere, Eileen looks for financial backing, and Julia and Frank hit bureaucratic obstacles with their international adoption plans.

Find out if we learn who gets the part tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Smash @ Clicker.

Interview with Tyler Blackburn from Pretty Little Liars

Tyler Blackburn, who plays the hot bad boy on Pretty Little Liars, recently took the time to speak with some journalists about his character, his music, and the show in general. He was sweet, courteous, and enjoyable to chat with.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/6/12

Who watched the Super Bowl last night? *raises hand* Going in, I didn’t really have a favorite, as I’m not a huge sports fan, but when my 14yo son said he was rooting for the Patriots, well…I just had to go for the Giants, right? Plus, I think Eli Manning is adorable. lol Whoever you were cheering for, it was a damn good game! Exciting to the very end. No football tonight, but plenty of great TV, so let’s check out what we think you should be watching with us!

I’ve been looking forward to tonight’s Castle episode since we first heard about it. I love love love alternate universe type episodes like the one tonight. Bones did something similar a few seasons back, when Booth’s coma dream had him married to Bones, and they owned a nightclub called The Lab. We got to see them make love, and at the end, she told him she was pregnant. I loved that, because we were far from actually seeing them as a couple, and I am going to love tonight’s Castle episode as much, if not more. On the last episode, it was all about dogs, undercover agents, and of course, murder. Plus, we got a bit of a Castle/Beckett moment, where he was rubbing her hand, showing her how the dog liked his head rubbed, and there was just this…umph. lol Just hot, that’s what it was.

On tonight’s episode, “The Blue Butterfly,” when Castle and Beckett investigate the killing of a treasure hunter, they discover the case is linked to a mysterious homicide from 1947 involving a hard-boiled private detective. Castle realizes the only way to solve the present-day murder is to solve the murder from the past. The 1947 case comes to life through stylized flashbacks, featuring Castle as the private eye and Beckett as a femme fatale. Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural, The Closer, Being Human, Lost) & Ellen Geer (Falcon Crest, Santa Barbara) guest star.

Do not miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.
