If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/7/12

Well, Americans voted, and Barack Obama will remain president for another four years. Whether you voted Obama or Romney, at least we’re lucky to live in a country where we have the power to make our own choices, right? On to some other news, you can make your choice again by picking what you want to watch on TV, and we’re here to help you with our recommendations for the night. 🙂

Last week’s The Neighbors was fantastically funny and so sweet it made me “aww” several times. Debbie became crazed while trying to plan Abby’s birthday, and that led to unhappiness for everyone. After explaining to their alien neighbors what a birthday & birthday party was, when she finally explained to Jackie why she was behaving that way (after everything started falling apart), Jackie took it upon herself to get her alien friends to help sort it all out so Debbie could relax and enjoy the day. In the end, it was successful, even if it wasn’t perfectly the way Debbie had first envisioned. Also, Jackie convinced her husband Larry to learn more about the humans by going to work with Marty. Marty showed up in a hard hat, short-sleeved dress shirt, tie, dress pants, construction/hiking boots, a lunch pail, and a shovel, which was hysterically funny. In the end, though, one of my “aww” moments was Larry finishing Marty’s accounting work so Marty could go home to help Debbie and enjoy their daughter’s birthday party. The other “aww” moment for me was when Reggie tried to give Amber a birthday present, even though it wasn’t her birthday. His first gift (a tile with all the events of the universe or whatever since the day of her birth drawn on it) was amazing. But then she argued that basically, she missed her old home and friends, etc. So he surprised her at the end by painting a beautiful mural on her wall of her old street with a card/plaque thing that said something about her old street from her new friend, happy non-birthday. It was adorable.

I love this show because it’s so wacky and so crazy, but so much fun and can be so sweet like last week. It’s one of my favorite new comedies in a while.

On tonight’s episode, “50 Shades of Green,” Marty and Debbie find out all the facts of alien love when Zabvronian mating season coincides with their wedding anniversary. Debbie longs for a little more romance in her marriage after she learns about the more cerebral Zabvronian way, while Jackie Joyner-Kersee is fascinated by humans’ more physical approach. Meanwhile, a handsome jock invites Amber to a make-out party and she decides to go, with Reggie Jackson tagging along. (Gotta love the play on the title, huh?)

See all the fun comparisons of alien and human sex tonight on ABC at 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Neighbors @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Criminal Minds, Modern Family, CSI, Chicago Fire, Cajun Pawn Stars, Arrow, and Top Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/17/12

I had to break down and turn my heat on this week because it’s been chilly over night—which can only mean one thing… WINTER is coming. Yay snow!! Don’t judge me. I love snow and all the winter sports that go with it—except snowshoeing. (Hey, just because I’m Canadian doesn’t mean I love snowshoeing. lol) After I search for my boxes of winter clothing that are packed away, I’m going to curl up with a nice cup of cocoa and watch some new TV—let’s see what we think you should be watching.

While it may be getting cold outside, Morgan (Shemar Moore) on Criminal Minds is anything but cold… Smoking hot is more like it. That man is a work of art, from his sexy face and his kick-ass abs, to his sweet disposition, he is delicious—but honestly, that’s not why I watch every week…just a yummy bonus. 😉 This show never ceases to pull me in with its intricate story arcs and its awesome cast. It’s a hit week after week. I’m not sure yet if I enjoy the addition of Alex Blake’s (Jeanne Tripplehorn) character, because I find her abrasive at times. Reed pulls off the know-it-all doctor with a likability that she lacks—I suppose time will tell if she becomes more viewer-friendly.

Last week’s episode, we watched 2 women take revenge on some very bad men who kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered a little girl. In the end, one of them got arrested, while the other (the little girl’s mother) escaped. It was a slightly disturbing episode and one that makes you wonder how to wade through all the gray areas.

On tonight’s episode, “Through the Looking Glass,” when one Kansas family turns up dead and another goes missing, the BAU looks for a link between the cases to find out who is behind the kidnappings and murders. Also, Hotch gets surprising news from Beth.

To see how our favorite crime fighting team solves this one, tune in to CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Criminal Minds @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Middle, Suburgatory, CSI, Chicago Fire, Nashville, Arrow, Law & Order: SVU, Guys with Kids, Supernatural, and The X Factor.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/29/12

We have arrived at the middle of the week, and so far, it’s going all right. Monday was the worst, with the Daytona 500 messing with my television viewing. Poor Kyle had an earful of how aggrivated I was that not only was the race on a Monday, but my husband, who insists on watching it, was screwing up my DVR recordings. I’m better now—only slightly bitter. 😀
Let’s see what we can entertain ourselves with tonight, shall we?

There are times when I wonder if Suburgatory is going to get old and unfunny for me… It hasn’t, and I don’t think it’s going to. I love the relationship that Tessa and George have—it’s so dysfunctionally perfect. Then again, given how crazy these suburban moms are, there is a whole lot of dysfunctional going on. Last week’s episode was a bit crazy—but in a good way. We had Noah winning back his wife on a white horse and Lisa having an identity crisis while becoming a member of the “KKK” for a bit. It was delicious comedy.

Tonight, on “Poetic Injustice,” Fred and Sheila strike up a croquet match with Dallas and George, and Fred misreads Sheila’s interest in George. Fred tells George that Sheila is fantasizing about him and asks him to seduce her. Meanwhile, Tessa desperately wants to impress the new poetry teacher, Ms. Evans, but she seems to prefer Dalia’s prose.

To see if George will get his seduction on with Sheila, tune in to ABC at 8:30/7:30c for an all new episode. Learn where to find episodes online of Suburgatory @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching Criminal Minds, Survivor, CSI, One Tree Hill, and American Idol.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/22/12

This week has been so incredibly busy already, and I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday. Let’s get over this hump and onto the rest of the week, but before we do, here’s what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

Suburgatory has been hitting it out of the park lately, with some funny yet poignant story lines. Last week’s episode, we saw Lisa feel inadequate to her brother ‘The Body’ (aka Ryan), but after he damaged his ACL wrestling, she got a taste of being the favorite. Meanwhile, Tessa was flunking physical education and made the mistake of believing all jocks are dumb. In the end, she decided to try to fix her grades and learned that some of the athletes are actually really smart.

On tonight’s episode, “Fire with Fire,” when Jill turns to newly single Dallas for inspiration and support, her marriage to Noah goes on the rocks. Meanwhile, Dallas begins spending a lot of time with her hot, younger boyfriend, Yoni (Wilmer Valderrama), which causes tension with George, and Dalia befriends Lisa to get back at Tessa for dating Scott Strauss – so Tessa decides to take action and recruits Kimantha to make Dalia jealous.

To see if George is jealous of Dallas’ new boyfriend, tune in to ABC at 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Suburgatory @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching American Idol, Criminal Minds, One Tree Hill, Survivor, and CSI.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/4/12

I know a LOT of people are excited about tonight’s TV, because ABC’s comedy lineup is back! That block of shows is pretty popular here at TV Is My Pacifier, so don’t be surprised when you see a bunch of ABC on our list tonight! 😉

Jenny’s Choice #1

In fact… my fist pick tonight is the new episode of Modern Family. This show is not about what most would consider a conventional family, but a family they are, nonetheless. They are kind of disfunctional, but in a way, that makes it all the better, because I can relate! On the last episode, they all rushed around trying to get Christmas together in just a few hours, since they figured out they were going to all be gone on Christmas day. It was hysterical seeing them all be with different people in the family. Mitchell, Alex, and Lily got the tree, Phil and Manny got the groceries, Gloria and Luke got the ornaments, and Claire and Haley shopped for all the gifts that Jay and Cameron were in charge of wrapping. It was so hysterical, because nothing went as planned, and yet, it turned out to be a great Christmas.

On tonight’s episode, “Lifetime Supply,” after having a doctor’s visit but then missing the call with the test results, Phil automatically jumps to conclusions and starts saying his goodbyes. Meanwhile Javier pops up unannounced again and takes Manny to the horse races for a belated birthday celebration, and a subtle competition ensues when Mitchell brings home an environmental law award and it becomes a game of who has the bigger trophy. Benjamin Bratt & Philip Baker Hall guest star.

Laugh along tonight on ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Modern Family @ Clicker.
