If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/27/14

Ahh, welcome back freezing temperatures. It’s been pretty mild here lately—Saturday was in the high 40s, while it was closer to 60 yesterday! Today? The high is supposed to be 21. Brrr. Of course, I’m just thankful I’m not in Canada with Megan. I love you, girl, but no way am I living up there. 😉 While I curl up under a blanket, check out our recommendations. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

castle127smallMy first pick tonight is the new episode of Castle. Last week was another great one, a rip on the “Miley Cyrus and other teen pop stars in the news.” You kinda had to feel bad for the girl, who’d pretty much been railroaded into becoming who she was. And then to find out that her mom was the one who killed her lookalike to cover up the fact that she’d hired the girl to pose in a compromising position with her daughter’s ex-boyfriend in the hopes of breaking up her and her current boyfriend—who was a really good guy and helping her to get away from the life she no longer was happy living. My favorite parts had to be everything with Alexis—from talking about the singer in front of her, to going to her apartment to switch phones, etc. And then, joy of joys, it seemed at the end like Alexis was going to break up with Pi. One can only hope, yeah? 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Dressed to Kill,” when the assistant to Modern Fashion Magazine’s dictatorial editor Matilda King (guest star Franes fisher) is found murdered, Castle and Beckett are thrust into the glitzy, ruthless world of high fashion in their search for the killer. Meanwhile Beckett’s history in the modelling world gets her access to a very special wedding surprise.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/19/14

My Saturday flew by. I watched a lot of TV, played some cards with the hubs, and tried a new soup with ground turkey and cheese tortellini for dinner (it was yum!). I’m hoping I have a relaxing Sunday, but if not, at least there’s some great TV on tonight to make up for it! Here’s what we recommend. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

guysgrocerygamessmallI’ve really been enjoying Guy’s Grocery Games. Guy is so much fun to watch, whatever show he’s hosting, and this is no exception. I love how he jokes with the contestants, teases them about the challenges, and salivates over the food the judges get to try. I also usually love the judges on this one. I’m just glad my least-favorite judge on Food Network—Geoffrey Zakarian—hasn’t been on. *laugh*

On tonight’s season finale, “Cart Wars,” the chefs are tasked to make tacos without tortillas, taco seasoning, and ground beef; Guy challenges the chefs to make him a sandwich using only frozen food; two chefs must make a super seafood dish.

See which competing chef takes home the money tonight on Food Network at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/22/13

It was a busy weekend around my house, but the highlight for my daughter has to be an afternoon of driving her ATV. She is all decked out with safety gear of course, including a really cool helmet that she loves. It may give me slight heart palpitations at times, but she really has a love for driving—next step, her own dirt bike (and Valium for me!). To take my mind off how quickly my little girl is growing up, let’s see what’s on TV tonight.

Megan’s Choice

thefollowing422smallThe Following is still managing to make me sit on the edge of my seat week after week—especially last week! We watched as Joey was rescued, much to the help of Jacob, who gave him up when Ryan persuaded him. I’m not sure where Jacob is going in the future, but I was interested to see Jacob and Emma being together after Joe was mean to Emma. Claire was happy her son was free, but tried to make Joe leave Joey alone by using his need for her to love him against him. She stabbed Joe, and while he survived, he is very angry and is planning on killing Claire now. I am definitely curious to see where the show goes in the last two episodes.

On tonight’s episode, “The End is Near,” Weston, Parker, and Ryan plan on storming the mansion, but Joe has already orchestrated his escape; followers cause a distraction at the town evacuation center, leading to confusion and the abduction of an FBI official.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/8/13

What a crazy but amazing weekend in my house! We have added a puppy to my already insane household—but what a joy. 🙂 Zeus is an English Mastiff who is only 8 weeks old. The kids are overjoyed and I’m happy. The only family members who aren’t happy with this addition are our two cats, who have yet to come see me since I brought the little man home. They’ll get over it eventually, but until they do, I’ll cuddle my puppy and watch some great television. Let’s see what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

thefollowing48smallThe Following has been hitting home runs since the premiere, and I cannot stop watching! This is one of those shows that keeps me intrigued from beginning to end, but also a show that makes me wonder where they’re going next. I was a little surprised by Claire going willingly to the cult, but seeing as they have her son, it makes sense. Where they’re going next, no one knows, but I’m excited to go there too!

On tonight’s episode, “The Curse,” Joe finds a follower that may be able to lead them to Carroll; Agent West returns possibly more affected by his run in with the cult than anyone realizes; Claire and Emma come together for the first time since Joey’s abduction.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/11/13

My kids are off on March break (what we call our spring break here 😉 ), and that means I have a busy household full of kids wanting attention and someone to keep them amused—I should have taken lessons with the circus in my off time. 🙂 Tonight, they’ll go to bed and I’ll need some time to relax, so I’m looking forward to unwinding in front of the television. Let’s check out what’s on.

Megan’s Choice

thefollowing311smallThe Following just gets more intense and creepy every episode! Last week, we watched as Carroll escaped prison by manipulating those around him, and he was united with Joey at a house filled with his faithful (yet disturbing) followers. I don’t know about you, but seeing a group of people that dedicated to a serial killer actually turned my stomach a bit! Now I’m just curious to see where we go from here, but wherever it is, I’m sure it’s going to be a twisty road.

On tonight’s episode, “Welcome Home,” with Joey Matthews still missing and the search for Joe Carroll escalating, the FBI brings in Nick Donovan (guest star Mike Colter) to run lead on the case, much to Ryan and Parker’s dismay. Meanwhile, a follower from the past meets up with Joe Carroll, and their plans have a life-threatening result.
