If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/22/13

I have had one of those weeks where my hormones make me an insane woman. I don’t care what other women say… It’s true that sometimes, our hormones make us worthy of flying a broomstick. After some chocolate, TV, and downtime, I am back to my usual semi-sweet self. Now I’m looking forward to a busy weekend of Santa Claus parades and working on Christmas presents for extended family with the kids. Although before my weekend can truly begin, we need to see what amazing television is on tonight, so let’s take a look.

Megan’s Choice

hawaiifiveo1122smallAt first, I was worried that moving to Fridays was going to hurt Hawaii Five-0, but in fact, I love it! I’m enjoying being able to watch my TV boyfriend, Alex O’Loughlin first, and then my favorite crime family at 10pm with Blue Bloods. Honestly, it’s been a great addition to my TV week. Speaking of great additions… How incredible has it been to have Catherine on the team full-time now? I think it was a genius move for the writers and it’s a help with Kono being in and out of the scene. Kono learned last episode that Adam faked his death, so she is off to find him because she simply cannot live without him. I’m not sure that’s going to be a good idea, but it will make for good TV. Last week, we also saw McGarrett work with Grover when the Governor sent them to serve a warrant to a young hacker named Ian. All hell broke loose, and the two men were forced to become allies in order to save the day. In the end, the two walked away with more respect for each other and a mutual enemy on the loose…giving us a new story line to follow. I’m intrigued. Are you?

On tonight’s episode, “Hau’oli La Ho’omaika’i,” a secret service agent is murdered while the president is traveling to Oahu; as Thanksgiving approaches, McGarrett’s Aunt Deb (Carol Burnett) visits and shares a stunning secret.

To see what secret Aunt Deb has, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Bones, Blue Bloods, Haven, and Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/18/13

October is just flying by, and I really wish it wouldn’t, because that means I need to start Christmas shopping soon. (Between you and me, my bank account is begging me not to shop. LOL) On a bright note, this television season has been going strong since the beginning, and it shows no sign of slowing down. Let’s see what’s on to keep you entertained on this Friday night—or setting your DVR for so that you can go out on the town. 🙂

bluebloods1018smallBlue Bloods was so incredibly good last week. I loved seeing Erin and Jack in the courtroom together, and I especially loved seeing Jack being protective over Erin when Delgado took the courtroom hostage. There’s a lot of work to be done between Erin and Jack if they ever plan on really being back together again, but who knows. Sometimes, where there was love once, there can be love again. I also really enjoyed Jamie’s story line, where he stood up to his superior in order to do what he felt was right and go with the little boy to the hospital. It was the right call, and it was another glance into the awesome character that Jamie is. This show hasn’t let me down yet, and I don’t think it’s ever going to.

On tonight’s episode, “The Truth About Lying,” a teen girl dies after she is seemingly pushed in front of a subway car by a homeless man; Frank is irritated by having to meet with the new Inspector General (Bebe Neuwirth).

To find out why the homeless man did it, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Hawaii Five-0, What Not to Wear, and MasterChef: Junior.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/11/13

While I write this, I am also running over a menu plan and a list of errands I need to complete by the end of the day. It’s the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and I have family and friends coming from out of town—as usual, I am completely not ready. I have an issue of taking on more than one person can do in a short period of time. 🙂 Tonight, I’m going to relax and catch up on some TV if I don’t pass out from exhaustion first, so let’s see what’s on.

Megan’s Choice

bluebloods1011smallBlue Bloods always manages to pull on my heart strings and still deliver a quality story. Last week, we watched as Danny helped out a famous actor (guest star Marc Blucas) keep his sexual life secret after he was stabbed during an encounter. As always, Danny was able to solve the case while still keeping his victims safe—have I mentioned I love Danny? 🙂 Also during this episode, Frank decided it was time to take a more hands-on approach with his officers, and he ended up learning a lot in the process. It was so sweet when he found that captain at home caring for his dying wife, and then was kind and sweet to her. That was a real good portrayal of Frank’s true character. Such a hero.

On tonight’s episode, “To Serve and Protect,” Danny takes the role of hostage negotiator when Erin is held at gunpoint in a courtroom.

To watch if Danny can save his sister, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Hawaii Five-0, MasterChef, and Say Yes to the Dress.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/4/13

TGIF! Unfortunately, I was supposed to be going away to some set visits this weekend with Kyle, but my son has some doctor’s appointments on Monday that I can’t miss. It’s bittersweet. It’s great that he’s getting taken care of, but sucks I’m missing the set visits!! While I cry in my wine about missing the set visits for Syfy, let’s see what’s on TV tonight.

Megan’s Choice

hawaiifiveo104smallI am super happy that my TV boyfriend, Alex O’Loughlin, is back on my television screen on a weekly basis now that Hawaii Five-0 has returned. Last week’s episode was full of excitement and fear for our favorite characters. I am so nervous to find out what happens with Kono now that their location has been compromised. My favorite part of the episode was watching how much Steve really loves Catherine—almost makes me wish he really was my boyfriend. 😉

On tonight’s episode, “A’ ale Ma’a Wau (Fish Out of Water),” a Five-0 murder investigation leads the team to help a Texas Ranger who comes to the island to find his missing daughter. Meanwhile, Kono and Adam fight to stay alive when their hidden location is discovered. Tim Daly guest stars.

To see what happens to Kono and the team in general, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Blue Bloods, MasterChef, and What Not to Wear.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/20/13

TGIF! It’s been kind of a long week for everyone, I think, and it was only tempered by a few premieres. (The big push on premieres is next week. Wow!) But tonight, there are a couple more premieres, and I couldn’t be more excited. So Kyle & I are here to tell you what we recommend. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

lastmanstandingsmallIt may not be the critics’ popular choice for comedy, but I’ve loved Last Man Standing since episode one. So I’m thrilled that tonight is the third season premiere. In last season’s finale, party girl Mandy got accepted to two colleges, much to everyone’s surprise, and of course chose a party school. When Kristin heard that Mandy had gotten the acceptance letters, she decided it was time to change her life—she may have been a teenage mother, but she didn’t want to be a waitress and live with her parents for the rest of her life. So she and Boyd moved out, and she’s reevaluating where she wants to go next. Meanwhile, Eve was practicing for her Junior ROTC competition.

On tonight’s episode, “Back to School,” Mike finds that Mandy’s steady boyfriend Kyle’s new interest in philosophy is distracting him from his work at The Outdoor Man Store. A solution may be in the offing when camo-wearing and regular customers Brody and Uncle Ray come to the sporting goods store to get outfitted for their annual moose hunting expedition. Meanwhile, Mike is skeptical about his grandson Boyd attending a bilingual school and wants Kristin and Ryan to switch Boyd to a school in his neighborhood. Willie Robertson & Si Robertson (Duck Dynasty) guest star.

To see the Duck Dynasty boys in action with Tim Allen, tune in to ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Neighbors.
