If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/16/13

Today, I would like to start by saying Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there—whether biological, adopted, or a stepfather, if you take care of your kids and are a dad to them, we salute you. Secondly, I’d like to take a minute to say happy 8th birthday to my amazing, sarcastic, beautiful, sweet, and blessing of a daughter, Chloe. You, little girl, are by far one of my greatest achievements.

Now to get to the other stuff: what you should be watching on TV tonight.

trueblood616smallI know that waiting sucks, but the wait is over because tonight is the season premiere of True Blood. I’ve got my cuddly blanket, my cup of tea (sorry, no blood for this girl), and I am going to sit back to watch Sookie start the season off in a pool of trouble as usual. I will, of course, also be watching to see my favorite vampire, Eric—hopefully, this season, Sookie and Eric will hook up for good, but I’m sure they’re going to drag that on forever. Whatever this season brings, it’s bound to be filled with delicious story lines, high sexual tension, and vicious fight scenes.

On tonight’s premiere, “Who Are You, Really?” a group flees the Authority compound in the wake of Bill’s reincarnation; Sam, Luna, and Emma evade guards; Alcide learns about the pack master job; Andy parents newborn human-faerie hybrids; Governor Truman Burrell vows open season on vampires.

To get your fix of sexy supernaturals, tune in to HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chopped, Food Network Star, and The Client List.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/26/12

It’s the start of another week, and it’s only ONE WEEK until my little girl starts grade two—time machine, let’s get this week over. (Where’s Doc Brown when you need him?) I love my daughter, but I am looking forward to having her back in school. She is so over summer vacation! While I not-so-patiently count down the days until school, let’s see what there is on the old tube to keep us busy!

An ode to True Blood: Oh, how I love your crazy, ludicrous story lines, the violence, the blood, the backstabbing, the anger, the love, the heartache… Need I go on? This season has been a mixture of emotions and a smorgasbord of crazy. I’m not sure yet if I loved it—I’m going to need some time to reflect on that—however, I can say that Evil Bill was intense. There also should have been more Eric—because more Eric makes Megan a happy girl. Okay, maybe all Eric, all the time? 🙂 How sad was it when Russell drained the Elder fairie? I loved her.

On tonight’s season finale, “Save Yourself,” Eric embarks on a final desperate mission to save Bill from losing his humanity.

To see if Eric can be the Sam to Bill’s Frodo, tune in to HBO at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of True Blood @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching The Great Escape.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/5/12

Here in Ontario, it has been ridiculously hot—to the point where you don’t even want to move because the effort is only going to make you pour sweat. I suppose it would help if my air conditioner was working, but hopefully by week’s end, I’ll have some working air. To keep my mind off the sweltering, disgusting, nauseating heat (what can I say, I hate the heat)—let’s take a look at what you should be watching tonight.

Speaking of hot, let’s talk about True Blood. What a season it has been so far! I say that not in a great way for once—what is with the weird fairy story line? I am hating it. The werewolves and pack stories are also really slow moving and boring to watch. If it wasn’t for the hot cast that makes me hot as can be every time they walk across my screen, I’d have stopped watching this season already. It must be bad if I, of all people, am willing to jump ship. Let’s hope the last couple episodes of the season are stellar and earn me back.

On tonight’s episode, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” the start of the vampire holy war is a cause for celebration for Salome and the Chancellors, but Eric may decide to go AWOL; Sookie learns more about her parents’ death from a deceased relative; Andy and Jason investigate the rise in shifter murders.

To see if the story lines get better, tune in to HBO at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of True Blood @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great Escape, Iron Chef America, and Drop Dead Diva.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/8/12

It’s the start of a new week. That is a good and bad thing. For a lot of people, that means they are only days away from Comic-Con. For others that are not so lucky (like me. lol), that means a new work week. But there’s still one more night to relax before you go back to work, so check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

I have to say I’ve been worried about this season of The Glades because Callie moved away to work and go to medical school and then the sexy hot Bureau Chief is showing an awfully big interest in Jim. But I caught up over the last few days and have been really happy with how it’s going so far. Yeah, it sucks that Callie isn’t in town, but they’ve done well with phone calls and the visits—like last week, when Jim surprised her at work with dinner from a local food truck. I’m still crossing my fingers that they don’t make Jim a cheater or have him & Callie break up. I want the Bureau Chief chick to go away. We’ll see how it goes. As for the cases, they have been as great as they always are and continue to be one of the reasons this is one of my favorite shows ever.

I’m looking forward to this week’s episode because it brings back two previous stories from the show. It’ll be interesting to see how they are handled this time around.

On tonight’s episode, “Old Times,” when a convicted killer contacts the Innocence Project and gets his case reopened, Jim must team up with his ex-partner; Callie learns a shocking truth about Miranda when she is faced with testifying against the IRS agent who sexually harassed her.

Don’t miss it tonight on A&E at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Glades @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing Longmire, Cupcake Wars, Food Network Star, Iron Chef America, Falling Skies, The Great Escape, & the series premiere of Bounty Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/1/12

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! There are so many reasons why we should be proud to be Canadians—but one of the many is Ryan Gosling. 🙂 Of course, there is also our healthcare, our equality, maple syrup, Canadian bacon, and poutine. Not to mention Rookie Blue and Flashpoint… Oh, and Dill Pickle chips, eh? There’s no doubt aboot it, Canada is amazing, and I am truly proud to say, “Happy birthday, Canada! There’s nowhere I’d rather live.” Enough of my Canadian pride for now. Let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

True Blood is one of those shows that has no boundaries—at all. They have taken us on a journey through so many subjects that other shows would pee their pants just thinking about. Last week’s episode took us on a trip down memory lane with Pam and how Eric became her maker. The sad, lonely life of a madam—but he rescued her and showed her kindness. That’s the thing about Eric. He does have a good heart…just buried in a vicious, masculine, vampire body. (Did reading that sentence make you flush as much as it made me while writing it? NO? Never mind, then.)

We also saw Steve Newlin as the new Nan Flanagan, Jason confronted the teacher that took advantage of him when he was younger, and Tara hid in the freezer at Merlotte’s for a while. In the end, Tara fled Merlotte’s after being confronted by Sookie and tried to off herself in a tanning bed (watch out, those buggers will kill ya.). Throughout the episode, we learned that pictures of Andy’s ass ended up on Facebook thanks to Holly’s kids—seriously, people… Be careful of who has naked pictures of you. You never know where they’re going to end up. 😉 Overall, it was a good episode with a few moments that made me gasp—but it wouldn’t be True Blood without those.

On tonight’s episode, “We’ll Meet Again,” Eric and Bill are afraid for their lives; Sookie opens up to Alcide; Lafayette endagers Sookie; Roman and Salome search for a traitor in the council; Andy and Jason go to a party; Terry has a flashback; and Sookie drowns her sorrows.

To see how many more boundaries this show can shatter, tune in to HBO at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of True Blood @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great Escape, The Glades, Drop Dead Diva, Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, and Cupcake Wars.
