Tonight is the series premiere of Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations on Travel Channel at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9:30/8:30c. Curious culinarian and James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Zimmern continues his search for the most interesting dishes across the globe. The 13-episode series, an extension of the popular Bizarre Foods franchise, takes viewers on an international journey to iconic cities around the world for a taste of their quintessential, not-to-be missed dishes. From melt in your mouth chocolate in Zurich to decadent gelato in Florence, savory paella in Barcelona to creamy clam chowder in Boston, the half-hour weekly series is an exploration of iconic foods, where they came from, how they are made, and the right way to eat them.
Tonight is also the series premiere of Ellen’s Design Challenge on HGTV at 9/8c. The six-episode series, Ellen’s first on cable television, will feature six competitors as they tackle ingenious challenges to sketch, design and build extraordinary furniture. The competition series requires that contestants create inventive furniture designs to avoid elimination. The last competitor standing receives a $100,000 cash prize courtesy of Wayfair.com and gets to see their work featured in HGTV Magazine.
Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Mud, Sweat & Gears on BBC America at 10/9c. Each week during this competitive car show, hosts Tom ‘Wookie’ Ford and Jonny Smith captain a team of two car nuts and go head-to-head to transform everyday vehicles. They have 24 hours to mutate, supersize and reconstruct – once transformed, the vehicles are raced in three extreme missions involving head-to-head sprints, timed challenges and stunts, lots of stunts. The missions are daring, adventurous, fun, and competitive – and all tied to different episode themes rolling out each week.

Tonight is the series premiere of Kart Life on TruTV at 10/9c. Racing dreams start early for this high-octane group of aspiring professional drivers. These kart-racing daredevils whiz 70 mph through hairpin turns — while navigating a sport fraught with danger, intense rivalries, and outrageous family drama, both on and off the track. Welcome to Kart Life: the competitive docu-series that mixes high-speed with high-drama, uncovering the intense world of kart-racing kids and their parents in the pits. The show follows the real-life drama on America’s greatest waterway, the Mississippi River, and the extraordinary lives of the modern-day “Huck Finns†whose very existence is dependent on the river. Bryant Tubbs, a tugboat captain and marine engineer, is a third generation son of the river, out to prove he can make a name for himself in the family business. Gary and Eddie are determined fishermen whose dream is to one day open their own seafood business. Matt, a skilled pool player who’s left a corporate job, travels down the Mississippi River on a homemade raft in order to embrace the simpler things in life. Ike, a spry 90-year-old treasure hunter, is on a quest to find artifacts from the War of 1812. Whether she’s called the Big Muddy, Old Blue, or the Mighty Miss, the river embodies a personality all her own. Just when the Mississippi Men think they’ve got her figured out, she surprises them. They will learn quickly that there are no rules on the river, and if they’re not careful they’ll get that lesson the hard way. Ultimately, the Mississippi River controls their fate, and only the strong survive.

Tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of Fortitude on Pivot at 10/9c. The dark drama series set in the melting Arctic, featuring psychological and thriller elements, tells the story of the small idyllic town of Fortitude, whose peaceful existence is shattered after a brutal and shocking murder. Above-average temperatures lead to a record ice melt revealing secrets long since hidden beneath the frozen landscape. Sheriff Dan Anderssen (Richard Dormer) leads the investigation and is forced to work alongside DCI Morton (Stanley Tucci), a detective who has flown into town from the mainland to contribute his forensic expertise. As the search for the killer progresses, their list of suspects — and suspicions of each other — grows.

When a spunky young reporter from Connecticut lands her first big job in a small-town news market, an unexpected shake-up occurs. truTV’s Local News (working title) follows a group of local anchors as they compete for the top spot in the game. The character-driven docu-soap will spotlight the playful – and at times cut-throat – rivalry between two local news stations and the dynamic newscasters who are determined to take their jobs seriously, even when some of the news they cover is less than serious.

Host Duff Goldman’s bakery becomes a battleground after hours for two talented teams of cake decorators, as their skills and creativity are tested with challenges and twists to create the most outstanding and over-the-top cakes.
