Tonight, the Chiller network kicks off its first original scripted series Slasher with a special 2-hour premiere. In Halloween of 1988, in the small town of Waterbury, a young man and his pregnant wife were murdered by a hooded killer known as the Executioner. After committing the murders, Tom Winston cut the baby from his victim’s womb and rocked it while waiting for the police to arrive. Now, almost 28 years later, Sarah Bennett (Katie McGrath, Dracula) returns to Waterbury to live in her inherited house where her parents were murdered. Her husband Dylan (Brandon Jay McLaren, Graceland) gets a job at the local paper and is perturbed to discover that his wife is front-page news. However, that’s quickly changes as the Executioner has returned and resumes his deadly rampage, taking out the townsfolk one by one. The only problem is that Tom Winston is still in jail, so who has taken up the killer’s hood and mantle and why? As Sarah starts to uncover the town’s buried secrets, she finds herself consulting an unlikely source for help in trying to figure out what’s going on.
The series also stars Wendy Crewson (Saving Hope), Steve Byers (The Man in the High Castle), Dean McDermott (Ecstasy), Christopher Jacot (Eureka), Erin Karpluk (Being Erica), Rob Stewart (Killjoys), Enuka Okuma (Rookie Blue), Mark Ghanime (Helix), and Jessica Sipos (Ascension).
The series is very much of the horror genre where there is a serial killer on the loose who is brutally murdering people one by one. There are some very dark, creepy, and tense moments designed to make you jump, and you never know who is truly safe (well, you can probably guess one character who will make it to the end!). We’ve seen some other shows recently in this same vein, like Scream and Scream Queens; however, this series doesn’t have that campy, self-aware like tone of the others. Tonight’s two-hour premiere does a good job of establishing the setting, introducing us to some of the unusual folks who live in this town, and starting to unlock the larger mystery of what’s going on, who the Executioner copycat might be, and how he is choosing his victims.
On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “An Eye For an Eye / Digging Your Grave With Your Teeth,” a woman finds herself at the center of a series of copycat killings, similar to her parents’ murders, when she returns to the small town where she was born.
To see if you get Chiller in your area, head to ChillerTV.com. If you do, tune in at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, Grimm, Sleepy Hollow, Second Chance, and Childrens Hospital.

On the last new Grimm, Monroe’s uncle, a bookseller in Germany, got a call from a friend of his, a woman who was going through the estate of someone who’d recently died. She had come across some old, OLD books and thought he might be interested. When he got his hands on them, he realized they were old Grimm books, like Nick used to have but even older. Only problem was the bad guys were looking for them too. They killed the woman and trashed Monroe’s uncle’s shop, but thankfully he’d already left Germany for the US. He contacted Monroe and said he needed to show them to him and to his Grimm friend. He was incredibly nervous and anxious to get them off his hands, but he said he’d sell them for $100,000. There was no way Nick was going to have that amount of money, although they had 24 hours to get it. He left one book with them to study. Unfortunately, the bad guys tracked Monroe’s uncle to his hotel and killed him. Nick and Monroe were able to figure out that the other books had been shipped and had arrived that night, so they went to pick them up, meeting the bad guys in the process and taking them out before grabbing the trunk. When they got it to the shop, they were finally able to open it, and not only did they find the other 19 books, but also old Grimm weapons and, more importantly, keys.
After gathering all five keys Nick and the trunk had, they began to put together the map, which they figured out was a map of the Black Forest in Germany. I’ve seen tonight’s episode, which picks up shortly after the previous one ended…and leads to Nick and Monroe going to Germany. Some great stuff happens before then, though, so…be prepared. It’s a fun ride!
On tonight’s episode, “Key Move,†newly gained artifacts take Nick and Monroe closer to the source of a long-gestating mystery. Elsewhere, Black Claw makes a deadly move that will send Portland into disarray.
Take a trip overseas with Nick and Monroe tonight on NBC at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, American Diner Revival, Second Chance, & Guy & Hunter’s European Vacation.

It’s not exactly clear where Sleepy Hollow is headed with this season’s story, but wherever it is, it’s definitely been an amazing journey so far.
Last week’s episode had Abbie acting odd and having issues handling being back. Crane was trying to help her and be there but she just wanted her space. She did decide to go back to work finally and just in time to help solve a case involving a crazy creature killing people. The very weird part came at the end, where we saw Abbie praying to an alter with the symbol she’s been doodling lately – she believes that the god that symbol belongs to saved her. This is going to be a strange season, and that makes it an intriguing one to watch.
On tonight’s episode, “Dark Mirror,” as a monster resembling the fabled New Jersey Devil ravages Sleepy Hollow, Crane must draw on his past to find the connection. Meanwhile, Jenny and Joe stumble as they navigate their new relationship.
To see how Abbie does, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching The Amazing Race and Grimm.
