Tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of When We Rise on ABC at 8/7c. This mini-series event chronicles the real-life personal and political struggles, set-backs and triumphs of a diverse family of LGBT men and women who helped pioneer one of the last legs of the U.S. Civil Rights movement from its turbulent infancy in the 20th century to the once unfathomable successes of today. Starring in the mini-series are Guy Pearce (Memento, L.A. Confidential) as LGBT activist Cleve Jones, Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, Angels in America) as women’s rights leader Roma Guy, Rachel Griffiths (Brothers and Sisters, Six Feet Under) as her wife, social justice activist Diane, Michael K. Williams (Boardwalk Empire, The Wire) as African American community organizer Ken Jones and Ivory Aquino as transgender activist Cecilia Chung. Joining them are Austin McKenzie (Spring Awakening) as Younger Cleve Jones, Emily Skeggs (Fun Home) as Younger Roma Guy, newcomer Jonathan Majors as Younger Ken Jones, and Fiona Dourif (The Master) as Younger Diane. The series also stars Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Rafael de la Fuente, Kevin McHale (Glee), Dylan Walsh, Denis O’Hare, David Hyde Pierce, & Carrie Preston.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Cold Case Files on A&E at 9/8c. There are 120,000 cold cases in America, and only 1% will ever be solved. The return of Cold Case Files will explore compelling new cases that have gone cold for years and chronicle the journeys of the detectives who reopened them. The detectives relive the events of the crimes, reveal new twists and startling revelations for full viewer immersion into these tragic cases, relying on breakthroughs in forensic technology and the influence of social media to help crack these cases — bringing long-awaited closure to the victim’s families and friends. The show is narrated by award-winning actor Danny Glover and will air over 10 one-hour episodes on A&E. Each episode will feature a single case that has been left unsolved for years, brought to life through cinematic dramatizations and gripping first-person storytelling from the detectives and loved ones who lived through the harrowing experiences. The series will highlight different approaches to solving cold cases that are more wide-ranging than ever before, enlisting crowd-solving and social media, alongside new advancements in technology to lead to further breakthroughs in each documented case.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Chris Webber’s Full Court Pranks on TruTV at 10/9c. The new hidden-camera series features some of the nation’s biggest athletes and sports celebrities playing elaborate — but good-natured — pranks on their most adoring fans. This ultimate fan experience gets the fans out of the stands and into hilariously awkward situations in the only show that lets everyday people get up close, personal and extremely uncomfortable with some of the biggest sports stars and celebrities in the world! Hosted by Webber, the series’ first season will welcome special guests Rick Fox, Hope Solo, Nick Swisher, Candace Parker and more.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Taken on NBC at 10/9c. The series is a modern-day edge-of-your-seat thriller that follows the origin story of younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen, Vikings) as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As he fights to overcome the trauma of the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills. In 30 years, this character is destined to become the Bryan Mills that we’ve come to love from the Taken films.

Tonight is the complete first season premiere of National Treasure on Hulu at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. This is a compelling and timely four-part serial drama examining the fallout that occurs when accusations of sexual misconduct are lodged against a fictional public figure, exploring their impact on the accused and those most closely associated with him as he is brought to trial. The series follows Paul Finchley, played by BAFTA-winner Robbie Coltrane (Harry Potter, Cracker, Tutti Frutti), as a bona fide “national treasure” and one half of a popular, long-running comedy double act. The famous comedian’s world is thrown into chaos when he is accused of historic sexual abuse. BAFTA-winner Julie Walters (Harry Potter, Brooklyn, Brave, Mamma Mia, Billy Elliott, Educating Rita), Andrea Riseborough (Nocturnal Animals, Birdman, Oblivion), and Tim McInnerny (Notting Hill, Blackadder, Game of Thrones) also star.

Click here for series premiere information

Tonight is the series premiere of Bringing Up Ballers on Lifetime at 10/9c. Featuring five Chicago-area entrepreneurs whose kids are some of the country’s most elite young basketball players, the six-episode series follows these feisty moms who will stop at nothing to ensure that their businesses are successful and their boys are on track to make it to the NBA. These ladies are anything but benchwarmers as they balance their households and businesses, while managing their sons’ daily practices and games. Together they are the ultimate Hoop Moms and are not afraid to call foul on each other as they fight to ensure their kids make it to the top.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Chicago Justice on NBC at 10/9c. Just like their brethren in the Chicago PD, the State’s Attorney’s dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators navigate heated city politics and controversy head-on, while fearlessly pursuing justice. As they take on the city’s high-stakes and often media-frenzied cases, they must balance public opinion, power struggles within the system and their unwavering passion for the law. At the center of the show is prosecutor Peter Stone (Philip Winchester), the ambitious Assistant State’s Attorney and Deputy Chief of the Special Prosecutions Bureau. Relentless in his quest for justice, it’s more than a job for Stone, it’s a purpose. Son of renowned New York City District Attorney Ben Stone (from Law & Order), Stone is shooting at a target that only he can see. This often puts him in direct conflict with Mark Jefferies (Carl Weathers), the Cook County State’s Attorney who sees the world through a political prism. While Jefferies believes that a good prosecutor gives the jury and the public a clear, clean and digestible narrative, Stone is convinced the law isn’t always best served in a sound bite. Together with their team, Stone and Jefferies strive to bring some much-needed justice to the city of Chicago. The team also includes Assistant State’s Attorney Anna Valdez (Monica Barbaro), a passionate newcomer, who’s more flexible and willing to bend the rules to get the right result; Laura Nagel (Joelle Carter), a tough-as-nails State’s Attorney Investigator that sees each case through the eyes of the victim; and Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda, formerly on Chicago PD), a level-headed and by-the-book detective turned Chief Investigator.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Deed on CNBC at 10/9c. The series features two savvy multi-millionaire real estate moguls — Sidney Torres and Sean Conlon — who, between them, have done over half a billion dollars in property deals. Torres and Conlon come to the aid of struggling property investors in dire need of help. The projects are failing, and the investors are on the brink of financial ruin. Torres and Conlon will use their own money to infuse the projects with cash, and offer their years of expertise to help people faced with losing everything. The show explores a side of real estate that other property shows ignore – an unflinching look at how fortunes are really made in the unpredictable and cutthroat world of real estate flipping and development. The eight-episode one-hour series will follow Torres in New Orleans and Conlon in Chicago as they throw distressed developers a lifeline by offering them their own cash and expertise in exchange for a piece of the property and a percentage of the profits. Once a deal is struck, they’ll stop at nothing to pull these properties out of the red, even if that means firing contractors, rolling up their sleeves and doing the work themselves. With properties ranging from family homes to multi-unit developments, it will take all of their experience to get them back on track. Developers’ profits can quickly turn to dust, but with the right partner, lives and fortunes can change with just one deal.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Time: The Kalief Browder Story on Spike TV at 10/9c. This six-part documentary event series tells the story of Kalief Browder, a 16 year old African-American student who spent three years in jail on Rikers Island without ever being convicted of a crime. It will be an important television event that takes a comprehensive look at Browder’s story using first-person accounts, archival footage, and cinematic recreations of key scenes from Browder’s life to present a definitive narrative of the shocking story that became a symbolic touchstone for criminal justice activism and reform. The groundbreaking series features exclusive interviews from a wide range of those connected to the story, from politicians to close friends and family members to social reformers.

Finally, tonight is the 1-hour series premiere of UConn Huskies: The March to Madness on HBO at 10/9c. This unscripted series chronicles the 2016-17 season of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team as it pursues a fifth consecutive national championship. Scheduled to run through the conclusion of the Huskies’ season, the show features exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, offering a unique look at the personalities who shape the powerhouse program.
