I’m so excited because Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders is back earlier than expected (after Doubt was quickly canceled). This spinoff had a short 13-episode first season, but it was a good one regardless of length. In case you’ve forgotten, this branch of the BAU is the IRT – International Response Team. They travel to foreign countries when American citizens run into trouble abroad. Jack Garrett, played by the incomparable Gary Sinese, is the unit chief. Members of his team include Clara Seger (Alana De La Garza), Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney), Mae Jarvis (Annie Funke), and Russ “Monty” Montgomery (Tyler James Williams). We know that Jack is married with older children. Matt is also married with young children (a whole bunch of them, if I remember right. Like…5?). Clara was married but her husband died a few years ago. Mae is a medical examiner, and Monty is a tech whiz.

I’m really looking forward to seeing where the team will travel this season and what we might learn about their personal lives, as well as what kind of bad guys we’ll see! With Criminal Minds in the name, there’s sure to be some baddies!

On tonight’s premiere, “Lost Souls,” Unit Chief Jack Garrett and his international response team are called to Tanzania when a 23-member church group disappears. Kirsten Vangsness guest stars as Penelope Garcia & Sherry Stringfield guest stars as Jack’s wife Karen.

Don’t miss the season premiere tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, The Goldbergs, Lethal Weapon, Major Crimes, Modern Family, Property Brothers, black-ish, Bakers vs. Fakers, & Six.

Tonight, Survivor returns for its 500th episode, and 34th season, under the season title of Survivor: Game Changers. This time around the cast consists entirely of returning players, all of whom have made some big moves during their previous appearances. Some people, like Ozzy and Aubry, have been runner ups, Tai has been a 2nd runner up, JT and Tony have each won the game before, and Sandra has already won the game twice! There’s people I could have done without seeing again, like Troyzan, Tony, Debbie, and Brad Culpepper, and others who are participating in their fourth season. This has become like a job for them! What have these 20 returning players learned from their past experiences, how will they change up their strategies this time around in order to take home the prize money and title of Sole Survivor, and what new twists await them this season?

On tonight’s premiere, “The Stakes Have Been Raised,” the castaways arrive at Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands, where two of the game’s legends set their sights on one another and another player introduces “spy shack” 2.0.

Catch the two-hour season premiere tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Speechless, Modern Family, black-ish, Designated Survivor, Workaholics, Jeff & Some Aliens, Legion, Man Seeking Woman, The Magicians, The Expanse, and Major Crimes.

Lethal Weapon has really been working on expanding the depth of the characters, especially Riggs. We know he loves his late wife, but I approve of Riggs getting a love interest and even more so because she’s being played by Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill). Her character Karen is a tough, bad-ass woman, and that is exactly what Riggs needs. I’m hoping that this love story doesn’t send Riggs too far over the edge, because I’d hate for the story to spiral too extremely.

On tonight’s episode, “A Problem Like Maria,” Riggs and Murtaugh team up again with DEA Agent Karen Palmer, and together they gain inside knowledge of dangerous new cartel operations. As Riggs’s attachment to Palmer deepens, so do his impulsive actions, further worrying Captain Avery and Delgado. In the meantime, Trish explores the potential of an amazing new career opportunity.

To see if Riggs can stay balanced when it matters the most, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Survivor, black-ish, Star, The Magicians, and Chopped Junior.
