Tonight is the 90-minute series premiere of The Vietnam War on PBS at 8/7c. Ken Burns and Lynn Novick direct a 10-part, 18-hour documentary series that tells the epic story of the Vietnam War as it has never before been told on film. Features testimony from nearly 80 witnesses, including many Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as Vietnamese combatants and civilians from both sides.

Tonight is the series premiere of Street Justice: The Bronx on Discovery Channel at 9/8c. Ralph Friedman is the most decorated detective in NYPD history, with over 2,000 arrests to his name. This fall, the legendary NYPD detective will take viewers inside the white-knuckle cases he investigated while working the streets of the Bronx. Detective Friedman began his police career in the 41st precinct during the turbulent 1970’s. He was promoted to detective after five years on the job and his extraordinary career has been commemorated with 219 awards, including the departments second-highest honor: The Police Combat Cross. He found his true calling with the NYPD and developed an impressive reputation among both the department and criminals he locked up.

Tonight is the series premiere of American Beauty Star on Lifetime at 10:33/9:33c. Twelve hair or make up mavens must become “beauty directors,” responsible for creating the overall look of their models. Paired with a teammate who is a master of the opposite craft, together they will compete in a series of beauty challenges each week, from creating high-end editorial looks to the most current glam creations for red carpets and runway shows. At the end of the season, only the contestant who proves they have what it takes to revolutionize what’s to come in beauty will be named “American Beauty Star.” Celebrity makeup artist Sir John serves as the contestant mentor and award-winning writer and Vogue’s former Beauty Director Sarah Brown and world renowned photographer Russell James serve as the judges. Special beauty industry influencers and celebrity guests join the panel of judges each week including YouTube beauty sensation Michelle Phan; models Behati Prinsloo, Christie Brinkley and Camilla Alves; make-up bloggers and beauty influencers The Kattan Sisters Huda and Mona; singer Michelle Williams, Editor-in-Chief of Teen Vogue Elaine Welteroth and Empire actress Ta’Rhonda Jones.
 
Tonight is the complete first season premiere of Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father on Netflix at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. In this new series, Jack Whitehall, a popular young comedian, and his father, a posh old-school Englishman, travel together throughout Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia) where they’ll learn a lot about the world and maybe a little about each other. The series begins shooting this month.
