If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/13/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, Showtime kicks off the 6-part BBC comedy/thriller Ill Behaviour. Joel’s (Chris Geere, You’re the Worst) wife of 10 years has just divorced him, but his best friends Charlie (Tom Riley, DaVinci’s Demons) and Tess (Jessica Regan, Doctors) aren’t really that upset to see Steph go, as they never really liked her. While Joel wants to sulk and throw away his settlement money, his friends push him to get back into the dating world and set him up with American expat Nadia (Lizzy Caplan, Masters of Sex), an oncologist who also happens to be a raging alcoholic. When Charlie announces that he’s been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and that he’s abandoning chemotherapy in favor of more natural treatments, this causes tension and division among the friends. And Joel starts going to extreme measures to try to save his friend.

The series is written by Sam Bain (Peep Show) and directed by Steve Bendelack (Friday Night Dinner). While I wasn’t laughing out loud at tonight’s premiere, it did have some humorous moments. By the end of the episode, the writers have set up an interesting turn of events, which could lead to a lot more comedy. I have enjoyed this cast’s previous work and look forward to learning more about these characters and seeing how the story progresses.

On tonight’s premiere, “Episode 1,” following his divorce, Joel reunites with his best friends from college; Charlie sets Joel up with Nadia.

Meet Joel and his friends tonight on Showtime at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Good Doctor, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, Lucifer, The Gifted, and Supergirl.

Jenny’s Choice

I was sorry for fans of Me, Myself & I, but I’m happy that Man With a Plan is back earlier than planned because I really enjoy this one. Matt LeBlanc and Liza Snyder have great chemistry, and it’s fun watching Adam trying to parent situations by himself when it was usually Andi who had to do it until she went back to work, leaving him to do more of the parenting by himself. And at least we aren’t coming into this season with her dead without warning! *grumble*

On tonight’s episode, “The Silver Fox,” Andi hires a pretty, young babysitter, Sophia (Victoria Justice), to watch the kids, and gets jealous when her daughter, Kate, goes to her instead for advice. Also, Sophia tells Adam she has the hots for him.

See how Adam gets out of this sticky situation tonight on CBS at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Dancing with the Stars, The Gifted, Holiday Baking Championship, Superior Donuts, 9JKL, Christmas Cookie Challenge, Scorpion, & The Brave.

Megan’s Choice

Every week, Scorpion is showing new ways for shows to successfully have a relationship between main characters work. Walter and Paige are well on their way to being a normal couple, while they navigate the beginning issues of a relationship such as communication and learning to be supportive. Last week’s episode, the team saved the day yet again when a laser was going to hit a nuclear plant, causing a disaster of epic proportion. They stopped it in time, and they also met their new neighbor (played by Veronica Mars alum, Tina Majorino!), who is also a scientist/geek. I think she’s going to be an integral part of the show going forward.

On tonight’s episode, “Faire is Foul” for Sylvester’s birthday, Team Scorpion visits a renaissance festival, but the revelry is cut short when a group tries to rob a nearby police evidence locker. Also, Paige grows weary of Walter’s play-by-play of all the historical inaccuracies at the festival.

Find out how the team saves the day this week tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching The Brave, The Voice, Lucifer, The Gifted, and Man With a Plan.
