Set in 1955 in the glamorous and intoxicating world of London club-land, Ruth found acclaim, aged 28, as the capital’s youngest club manager. But her success soon unraveled as she became entwined in an abusive relationship with racing driver David Blakely. On trial for his murder, Ruth was condemned to die by a system which judged her for far more than her crime. It stars Bessie Carter, Laurie Davidson, Lucy Boynton, Mark Stanley, & Toby Jones.

Overnight was the series premiere of A Remarkable Place to Die on Acorn TV. The series follows smart and determined homicide detective Anaís Mallory (Chelsie Preston Crawford) as she returns to her hometown of Queenstown, New Zealand, assuming the role of lead detective and hoping to unravel the truth behind the deaths of her father and sister. Mallory has a stellar policing career under way after a secondment to Sydney, but she is forced to confront her strained relationship with her mother and the ghosts of her past, including her ex-fiancé Luke (Charles Jazz Terrier), who is now married to her ex-best friend, Maja (Indiana Evans). With a new case to solve every episode, it rapidly becomes apparent that there is plenty hidden beyond the breathtaking scenery of the tourist town. Secrets linger and danger is never too far away. As bodies start piling up around the once-safe place, Mallory and her team are thrust into a series of intriguing cases that bring into focus the tragedies that have beset her family. Plagued by the suspicion that her ex-fiancé might somehow be involved in their deaths, Mallory also realizes that her mother may know more than she is willing to reveal.

Her parents disagree and so begins a fight that will take them through every stage of a legal process, as they struggle to contemplate this huge decision. It’s a story of a family driven apart by having to make choices no parent would ever want to make.

Tonight is the series premiere of Thomas Jefferson on History Channel at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9/8c. Thomas Jefferson is widely considered the patron saint of America’s most sacred beliefs. He is the central figure in the story of American democracy and when he penned the Declaration of Independence nearly 250 years ago, he personally inspired a revolution of self-governance around the world. More so than John Adams, Alexander Hamilton or even Abraham Lincoln, it was Jefferson’s “revolution of ideas” that laid the groundwork for America’s founding and success. As our 3rd president, Jefferson doubled the size of the country and inspired a western expansion that turned a fledgling nation into an empire. Jefferson’s image as an American deity would be almost perfect… were it not for slavery. Although his immeasurable contributions to American freedom and growth have been well documented, the complexities of his relationship with slavery, which include a decades-long sexual relationship with an enslaved woman and the children who came from it, have remained largely misrepresented in the popular American narrative. The six-part series is the first of its kind to take an objective and comprehensive approach to the truly remarkable and surprising story of an American icon.

Tonight is the complete limited series premiere of The Fox Hollow Murders: Playground of a Serial Killer on Hulu at 12:01AM/11:01PMc. In the wealthy suburbs of Indianapolis, husband and father of three Herb Baumeister led a double life – businessman by day, serial killer by night. Throughout the 1990s, he targeted gay men, amassing a victim count possibly surpassing that of Jeffrey Dahmer. “The Fox Hollow Murders: Playground of a Serial Killer” is a four-part series that follows Hamilton County coroner Jeff Jellison as he launches a new investigation decades after thousands of bones were found in the woods behind Fox Hollow Farms, Baumeister’s stately home. Using new DNA technology, Jellison and his team work to identify the human remains, bringing long-deferred closure to victims’ families and unearthing unsettling questions about potential accomplices, missing evidence, and a key witness whose story keeps changing. Through never-before-seen archival footage and new interviews with those central to the story, this new docuseries explores how the murders went undetected and how Baumeister became the most prolific serial killer you’ve never heard of.
