Jenny’s Choice
I’m enjoying the final season of The Mentalist. It’s really nice seeing Jane & Lisbon in a real relationship. He’s struggling with his need to keep her safe, and last week was a prime example of that. When the team set up a sting to catch a killer who was going after a protected witness — and trying to get said witness to the courthouse — Jane basically sent Lisbon on a wild goose chase in order to get her out of the line of fire. She figured it out and was upset with him. I did love that he made no bones about the fact that he would do it again. We’ll just have to see if it blows up in his face…
One of the ongoing stories for this season has been Abbott’s old boss and the secret he has over Abbott. When they were working an operation against a drug cartel, Abbott saw one of the bad guys he’d been surveilling, and rather than let him go to potentially hold up a bus and kill everyone on it as the cartel had been doing, he took it into his own hands and killed the man. Abbott’s boss figured it out, and now that Abbott’s wife is up for a position in Washington, he’s holding it over Abbott’s head to get him to do stuff for him or he’ll let the story come out. Now, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, as he’d be in big trouble for not coming forward sooner, but okay. Jane figured out something was going on and got the story out of Abbott a few weeks ago. He’s already made one play against the guy, but it comes to a head this week.
On tonight’s episode, “Copper Bullet,†when Abbott’s old boss, Agent Peterson, threatens Abbott’s career — and possibly his freedom — Jane devises a risky plan to protect his friend’s future. Dylan Baker, M.C. Gainey, & more guest star.
See if Jane can take down Agent Peterson tonight on CBS at 8/7c.
