I’m probably the most excited I’ve been about a premiere than I have been in a while… Season two of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan premiered overnight last night, and I can’t wait to watch. The overall season one story of Mousa bin Suleiman, his wife Hanin, and their children is done. No returning for them. (If you remember, he was an up-and-coming terrorist, and even though his motives might have been good – providing good lives for his family and fellow Muslims – the way he went about it wasn’t good, and his wife was planning on taking their kids and running. She did, but the oldest – their son – sided with and stayed with his father. Jack Ryan (and more on that awesomeness in a minute) ended up taking Suleiman down at the hospital, where the plan had been to set off a dirty bomb while the POTUS was there. There was almost an issue with Cathy’s (Jack’s love interest, the daughter of his former boss) safety, but Jack saved her just in time.

We can’t forget Grier, either. He’d been demoted after his actions in Karachi, and he and Jack didn’t have a great start. But what started out as a very contentious relationship between Jack and his new boss turned into a great working relationship, and when he was reassigned to Moscow at the end of the season, this time because of his good work throughout the Suleiman problem, he decided to take Jack along with him.

Jack… Oh, Jack Ryan. After the first season wrapped, I went and watched all of the Jack Ryan movies, and I gotta say, I like the show better. I mean, I liked some of the movies more than others too, but I absolutely loved John Krasinski in the role. He’s much younger than the movie actors (since this is the origin story, duh…but still…), and that is more interesting for me. And Krasinski, who was most notably known for his role in the comedy The Office, plays the dramatic role like he was born for it. I can’t wait to see how he does in season two!

Don’t miss the complete season two out on Amazon now!

I’ll also be watching The Great British Baking Show finale, American Housewife, CMT’s Nashville Squares, Hawaii Five-0, & Blue Bloods.

It surprised me how much I enjoy All Rise, because another legal show seemed a little crazy to add to my television-watching schedule, but I am so glad I gave it a chance. Lola is one of the most lovable yet fierce female characters on TV right now. She is showing us how strong women can be while still following her heart. It definitely isn’t always rainbows and butterflies for her when she tries to do things her own way. For example, when she snuck off by herself to walk through the courthouse. It is quite difficult for a judge to walk through the main area of the courthouse and not be accosted by people who disagree with her – even to the point of verbally or physically attacking the judge. It is a fine line between being safe and making change happen that Lola needs to walk, and I don’t envy her at all. Going forward, I hope we continue to see Lola work her hardest to bring about change for the system from the inside out.

On tonight’s episode, “Fool for Liv,” Lola contends with a fame-hungry defendant, personal assistant Olivia McLeland, and a circus-like courtroom while presiding over a celebrity’s murder trial that forces her to find peace at Sherri’s home after she’s chased by paparazzi. Bianca Santos & Jere Burns guest star.

To see how Lola navigates these new waters, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, 9-1-1, Bull, The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, All American, Bluff City Law, and Prodigal Son.

A few weeks ago, the 6-episode first season of British zombie comedy series Zomboat! premiered on ITV2 in the UK, but today Hulu takes the series stateside. There’s a sudden zombie outbreak in Birmingham, but sisters Kat (Leah Brotherhead, White Gold) and Jo (Cara Theobold, Absentia) have a plan to survive: head to an island, because zombies can’t swim! Kat believes that her extensive knowledge of zombie films and TV shows and experience at killing zombies in video games is going to help them. However, she quickly realizes that killing a zombie in person is a lot different and that these zombies don’t seem to follow the same rules set forth in TV shows and movies. The two plan to steal Jo’s ex’s narrowboat and sail down the canal to London and then find a nice island to settle on. But as they take off, the sisters discover two stowaways aboard the ship – buddies Sunny (Hamza Jeetooa, Doctor Who) and Amar (Ryan McKen, Bancroft), who were at a stag party during the outbreak.

I checked out the first two episodes of the series and found it to be a fun, dumb show that made me laugh. The characters are all a bit self-absorbed and aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed – though let’s hope they find some if they are to have any hopes of surviving. You wouldn’t think the series could do much with a boat slowly floating down a canal, but so far the writers have found reasons for these characters to make excursions back to the land where the zombies are roaming – whether it be for supplies, to pick up a friend, or something else. The zombies also don’t act the way that you’d traditionally expect them to, so there are some fun surprises. The episodes are only 22 minutes long and have built-in ad breaks, so it’s a light, fun zombie show that doesn’t involve a huge time commitment, and it’s perfect for this Halloween season.

Check out the entire first season now on Hulu!

I’ll also be watching/recording American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, 20/20, The Blacklist, and Van Helsing.

I’m enjoying the new season of S.W.A.T.. Last week was a good one… The new Lt. Lynch really fumbled the ball when she spoke signed SWAT up for an undercover operation and went to the team with it first before even speaking with Hicks. Not only that, but she talked with and gave the mayor all the details as well, which is a no-no for Hicks. Fortunately, when Chris and Street went undercover in a counterfeit money op to take down (again) a local gang, things went as good as can be expected. No one was hurt, although it looked shaky for a minute, and they were able to nab all the bad guys and get all the counterfeit money before it could be distributed. But the whole thing left a bad taste in Hicks’s and Hondo’s mouths about Lt. Lynch.

On the personal side of things, Hondo’s parents were still at odds (no surprise, really), but Hondo convinced his mom to come out to the car show for both Daryl and Hondo himself, not for his dad. She did, and I could tell it meant a lot to Daryl to have her there, since he’d worked hard helping Hondo’s dad with his car. We’re still wondering what Senior’s health issue is, since he coughed up blood a couple of episodes ago. When will we (and more importantly, Hondo) find out? Gotta be something serious, I’m guessing… As for the not-so-serious, Chris helped smooth the way for Street and Molly Hicks, even though she didn’t look entirely happy about it. She’s trying so hard to be happy with Kira and Ty, but obviously she has some feelings for Street. I want her to be happy with them. I love that odd relationship. I don’t want her with Street, simply because on this show, they won’t keep them together (I mean, look at how it went with Hondo & Jessica…). Guess we’ll see…

On tonight’s episode, “Immunity,” Deacon’s family gets caught in the crosshairs of a drug cartel when he and the SWAT team aim to bring down its leader, a former foreign rebel force leader running drugs in plain sight via a local flower market. Also, Hondo receives troubling news regarding his father, and Tan is forced to go before an internal review board due to his girlfriend’s indiscretion.

See if Deacon can protect his family tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Limetown, Chicago Med, The Goldbergs, Schooled, Chicago Fire, Guy’s Grocery Games, Nancy Drew, SEAL Team, Single Parents, & Chicago PD.

9-1-1 wasted no time getting drama started this season, first with a tsunami and now with Buck and his lawsuit. I understand that Buck feels betrayed by Bobby, but this lawsuit is ludicrous. It is only going to cause his friendships to fall apart, and no one will ever want to work with him again. Hopefully the writers don’t continue this story line for long, because the show is better when the team is working together.

On tonight’s episode, “Rage,” the 118 races to help protesters at a slaughterhouse and a wife who finds herself trapped in a “rage room” with her husband’s mistress. Meanwhile, Athena takes action after Michael, May, and Harry experience a traumatic traffic stop. Also, the team feels betrayed by Buck when his suit against the city goes to arbitration, and Eddie turns to Lena in his struggles with his anger issues.

Find out what Athena gets herself into tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, All Rise, Prodigal Son, Bull, Bluff City Law, The Neighborhood, and Bob Hearts Abishola.
