When I was a child, I spent many nights lying awake with a flashlight reading Nancy Drew books and picturing myself there helping her solve these mysteries…so I was ecstatic when I heard that The CW was going to have a show this season based on the teenage detective. Tonight is the premiere of Nancy Drew, and I am very interested to see if they can do my childhood favorite the justice it deserves.

Nancy (Kennedy McMann) is an intelligent teenage detective who solves mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine, but when her mother passes away suddenly, Nancy’s plans for college are put on hold. After her mother died, Nancy decided to stop solving crimes and trying to work toward re-applying to college, but a murder in town forces her into the detective life again. She not only decides to start trying to help solve the murder but finds herself a prime suspect along with four other teenagers who now must all team up to clear their names.

The other four people on the suspect list are Nancy’s nemesis from high school, George Fan (Leah Lewis); a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani); Nancy’s secret boyfriend, Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim); and amiable burnout Ace (Alex Saxon, The Fix). The show also stars Scott Wolf (The Night Shift, Party of Five, Everwood) as Nancy’s father, attorney Carson Drew; Alvina August as Detective Karen Hart, who is dating Carson; and Riley Smith (Frequency, Proven Innocent, Studio City, Drive) as Ryan Hudson…who I can’t find anything about, although I believe he is somehow related to the victim.

There is bound to be some exciting times with intense storylines and romantic moments.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene; the teens must team up to clear their own names.

To see if Nancy can help solve this murder and clear everyone’s names, tune in to The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, The Masked Singer, Riverdale, SEAL Team, Almost Family, Guy’s Grocery Games, Stumptown, and S.W.A.T.

Tonight, The Flash returns to The CW to kick off its sixth season. As the fifth season came to a close, Ralph realized that Eobard Thawne had tricked Nora into traveling into the past, kicking off events that would ultimately cause the destruction of the dagger that was suppressing his powers and keeping him in prison in the future. However, the group found themselves in a quandary and had to choose between stopping Cicada in the present and letting Thawne go free in the future or vice-versa. After Team Flash managed to stop Cicada, they quickly headed to the future to try to stop Thawne, who was now free. However, in their efforts to stop Thawne, they spawned off a new timeline in which Nora’s powers were fading and glitching. Thawne told Barry the only way to save his daughter was to return her to the Negative Speed Force, but Nora refused to do this because the NSF would fill her with hate and anger like Thawne. So she accepted the consequences and allowed herself to just fade away and be erased from the timeline. Afterwards, Sherloque headed back to his own Earth, Cisco decided to take the cure and eliminate his powers, Joe became the CCPD’s new captain, and Iris and Barry found a goodbye message from their daughter, saying that she had no regrets about her decisions and that she was thankful for the time she got to spend with them. In the post credits scene, the date on the newspaper in the time vault changed to 2019, hinting to the upcoming Crisis crossover event.

So as the new season begins, how will Barry and Iris deal with the loss of Nora? How will Cisco deal with having no powers, and will that change his role on the team? What crazy new version of Dr. Harry Wells will show up this year to join Team Flash? And what new evil enemy awaits the team this season?

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got the chance to talk about the series with some of the cast members. You can watch my interview videos from the press room at NoReruns.net.

On tonight’s premiere, “Into the Void,” while Barry and Iris deal with the loss of their daughter, the team faces their greatest threat yet — one that threatens to destroy all of Central City; Killer Frost has a brush with death that will change her relationship with Caitlin forever.

Meet the team’s newest threat tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Bless This Mess, mixed-ish, black-ish, Emergence, This Is Us, The Resident, and In a Man’s World.

Tonight, Supergirl returns to The CW to kick off its fifth season. As the fourth season came to close, Supergirl was up against Lex Luthor, who had made himself look like the hero, “saving” the country from an alien attack, and using Red Daughter to try to kill Supergirl. For his heroism, the president had named Lex the new Director of Alien Affairs. However, it turned out that Lex was harnessing the aliens’ powers to create batteries, which he planned to utilize to blow up the planet Argus, along with Superman. It was up to Supergirl to expose Lex’s evil plan, which she did as Kara via a written expose. However, Lex was still moving forward with his plan, and the group gathered to stop him from launching his weapon. Meanwhile, Ben Lockwood also showed up, looking to fight Supergirl. During the commotion, Red Daughter took a blast of Kryptonite while trying to protect Supergirl and was killed. Supergirl reabsorbed her clone, and this extra burst of power allowed her to blast Lex and his Lexosuit, sending him hurdling toward Earth. He managed to create a portal into his lap before he exploded into the Earth. However, Lena showed up and shot Lex. As he lay dying, Lex revealed Kara’s big secret to Lena, who was shocked and felt betrayed. In the final moments of the episode, The Monitor arrived through a portal, greeting a Green Martian, who was plotting revenge on his brother, J’onn J’onzz. We then saw The Monitor hovering over Lex’s cold body… It looks like this will not be the end for Lex!

So how will learning Kara’s secret change Lena? Will she turn to the dark side with her brother? Will she plot some kind of revenge against Supergirl? When will she tell Kara that she knows? What new villains and threats await Supergirl and her DEO/superhero crew this season?

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got the chance to talk about the series with some of the executive producers and cast members. You can watch my interview videos from the press room at NoReruns.net.

On tonight’s premiere, “Event Horizon,” Kara is surprised to find that CatCo has a new owner who has brought in a star reporter; new couples emerge and explore their budding relationships; J’onn J’onzz receives an unexpected visitor.

Find out who now owns CatCo and who visits J’onn J’onzz tonight on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Rookie, The Simpsons, Bless the Harts, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Batwoman, The Walking Dead, Mr. Robot, and Succession.

Magnum P.I. returned last week, and there are still loose ends to tie up – Higgins still hasn’t given Magnum an answer about becoming a partner. Higgins did leave to go to England to see her old boss from MI6, so I’m hoping she’s just taking care of old business, because she and Magnum make a perfect team. In fact, they make a little bit too good of a team for the liking of the woman Magnum is seeing… She was not pleased with the moment that Magnum and Higgins shared before she left. I’m okay with that because I would love it if Higgins and Magnum got together as a couple. They are perfect for each other.

On tonight’s episode, “Honor Among Thieves,” an incorrigible pickpocket, Jin, asks Magnum for help when a cell phone he recently lifted receives a very suspicious text message. Also, Magnum is frustrated when Higgins still won’t give him an answer to whether or not she will become his partner, and when Rick decides to make a bold career move, T.C. comes to the rescue.

Find out if Higgins finally gives an answer tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods.

Tonight, FOX kicks off the new drama Almost Family, the latest series from executive producer Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and writer Annie Weisman (About A Boy, Desperate Housewives). Julia Bechley (Brittany Snow, Pitch Perfect) has grown up as the only child of renowned fertility doctor Leon Benchley (Timothy Hutton, American Crime, Leverage)…at least that’s what she believed. Julia’s world is about to come crashing down when it’s discovered that her father used his own sperm to help over 100 women become pregnant. Being his partner in the clinic, Julia now has to deal with the fallout, both emotionally and legally.

As Julia deals with her father’s betrayal and starts to explore the breadth of the incident, she is upset to discover that one of her potential siblings is former best friend, now lawyer, Edie Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke, The Following, 90210) – the two had a falling out when Edie stole and married the guy Julia loved. Another one of the potential “Benchley Babies” is former Olympic athlete Roxy Doyle (Emily Osment, The Kominsky Method, Young & Hungry), who wouldn’t be that upset to discover that the parents who are still trying to make money off of her former glory might not be her real parents. For better or for worse, this unusual situation has brought these sisters together. They’ve started to form a bond and will be the ones to help one another weather the storm of their forever-changed lives. And this nontraditional family will likely grow as additional siblings come out of the woodwork.

I quite enjoyed tonight’s premiere – this series has a really great cast. In addition to establishing the main premise of the series, the first episode also sets up some other interesting storylines and character dynamics to explore. It doesn’t make light of this serious situation – it seems like Leon isn’t going to just get a slap on the wrist – but the episode does have some really fun moments. I look forward to seeing more of the fallout of this scandal and how the characters deal with it.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” only child Julia finds her life turned upside-down when her father makes a startling revelation.

Join the Benchley family tonight on FOX at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Schooled, Modern Family, Single Parents, Stumptown, Survivor, The Masked Singer, and American Horror Story: 1984.
