I’ve really enjoyed the first season of Superior Donuts. Judd Hirsch is always great, and he has a lot of chemistry with Jermaine Fowler, who plays Franco. The rest of the cast is a lot of fun too. The always racist Fawz might be my favorite character, though. He’s so wrong it’s hysterical. Last week, Franco decided he should show his art. He tried to get into a real gallery, but the gallery owner said no way, so the gang rallied and turned the donut shop into a gallery to show just Franco’s art. The gallery owner even came and gave Franco some advice, telling him he had a long way to go but it would be worth it for him to continue. Unfortunately, Arthur took it upon himself to invite Franco’s father, who always said pursuing his art wasn’t worth the time. In the end, his father still isn’t supportive of his art, but Franco stood up to him and said that was fine. He wouldn’t continue his art without his father’s support since he had the support of Arthur and all his friends there at the donut shop.

Like I said, I really loved the entire season and all the characters. I’m sad tonight is the season finale, but thank goodness it’s been renewed for another season already, so I don’t have to worry about whether or not it’s coming back!

On tonight’s episode, “Secrets and Spies,” when Maya momentarily leaves her open laptop unattended, the gang discovers she’s been studying them all year for her dissertation. Also, Franco and Randy become determined to learn the truth about where a tight-lipped Arthur really spends each Sunday.

Find out where Arthur’s been going on Sundays tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kevin Can Wait, Kids BBQ Championship, Man With a Plan, The Great Indoors, Help My Yelp, & Scorpion.

Tonight, the third season of The Last Man on Earth comes to a close on FOX with a special 1-hour finale. Last week, the show took a sudden and unexpected leap forward in time, and Tandy comically and casually mentioned all of the “boring” stuff viewers missed during those 6 months. Melissa was now sane again and ready to walk down the aisle with Todd. Meanwhile, Jasper was talking up a storm, Erica and Gail were a couple, and Erica’s and Carol’s pregnancies had advanced tremendously. And the episode ended with Erica’s water breaking.

Will these untrained survivors be able to deliver the baby successfully, or will Erica face the same fate as her baby’s father? Will Carol also give birth before the end of tonight’s finale? And will we finally see the return of Kristen Wiig’s character? (I really hope so. She’s so hilarious!) The series creators already warned that this season finale was not written as a series finale, so we’ll likely be left with yet another twist/cliffhanger, so I really hope we hear of some good renewal news from FOX soon!

On tonight’s season finale, “When the Going Gets Tough; Nature’s Horchata,” the long-term consequences of surviving an apocalyptic event start to have a major impact on the group as their daily lives are turned upside down.

See how the season (series?) ends tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Making History, Into the Badlands, The Leftovers, Silicon Valley, Veep, and American Gods.

Tonight on Disney XD, three new episodes premier of the animated incarnation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It is the second block of episodes dropped at once following the mid-April single night release of five episodes of the show’s sophomore season. These two strategically timed marathons of the hilarious and exciting cartoon are sandwiched around the May 5th American theater release of the franchise’s second feature film. The cartoon, which launched in 2015, began its first story arc immediately following the events of the first film, but it was made clear that this was a new GotG continuity, whose events would not feed back into the second movie in any causal way. There are both similarities and departures between the two versions of the Marvel property, with a slightly more adult tone in the PG-13 theater renditions. Rocket’s constant use of fake curse words is hilarious, and I’m pretty sure he has more than one that translate to the F-bomb.

So far this season, the Guardians teamed up with the Avengers for two episodes before encountering the organization that has served as their most consistent nemesis in the last eight episodes: the Universal Believers, a fanatical religious group with ambiguous intentions and incredible powers of faith. They are able to manifest a great range of powers just by believing in said powers and stating it out loud. It can get annoying at times, but it makes for great wise crack riffing by Quill and Rocket Raccoon. This space cult also serves as a good place to showcase Mantis, an empath with antennae who features largely in the new film, though in a varied role.

The five-episode block last time was a story arc that was set into motion when Gamora’s sister Nebula came into conflict with the Guardians over a small collection of artifacts with immense cosmic power, including a Nova Corps helmet and a sarcophagus. Prior plot threads came to a culmination when the sarcophagus eventually rebirthed Adam Warlock, who was allegedly the prophet the Believers had been awaiting. Quill insisted on keeping the baby Warlock away from the cult’s influence. He matured (at an accelerated rate) to a state of adulthood and decided he did not want to lead them anyway. Another poignant moment that emerged from these episodes was a short stint by Cosmo the Dog as a temporary Guardian. It was cool to see the psychic Russian dog in his cartoon incarnation, especially as his involvement with the team increases in the comic book.

This show is as fast paced and funny as the movies, and it helps to solidify the brand of one of Marvel’s most promising properties these days. The banter and action are always rolling around like Rocket is prone to be. And it says something about the constant zings that Gamora, daughter of Thanos, is the group’s “straight man;” sometimes she’s the only one that is really adulting. This morning, the lovable group of space outlaws turned heroes will face the species of aliens that Spiderman’s “black suit” came from in the three part “Symbiote War” arc.

On tonight’s first episode, “Symbiote War Part One – Wild World,” the Guardians discover Groot’s homeworld, Planet X, has been overrun by Symbiotes who will stop at nothing to get Groot’s restarted World Pod for themselves to conquer the galaxy.

Then in the second episode, “Symbiote War Part Two – I Will Survive,” as a comet covered in Symbiotes comes barreling towards Spartax, the Guardians must team up with Quill’s sister Victoria to save the planet.

Finally, in the third episode, “Symbiote War Part Three – Thunder Road,” when the Symbiotes escape to Asgard and venomize Thor, Odin and the other Asgardians, it’s up to the Guardians to save them, the World Tree and all of existence.

Catch the fun today on Disney XD starting at 11AM/10AMc before you head out to see the movie tonight!

Tonight is the season finale of Blue Bloods, and I am both excited and sad. It has been a great season overall, but I was really hoping we would have seen more relationship growth between Jamie and Eddie by now. Hopefully the writers get their game together next season, because my shipper dreams are dying.

On last week’s episode, Erin discovered someone from her office stole evidence for her case and set out to prove it. Eventually, she did get Gary to admit he did it, and her case was saved. Elsewhere, Danny had to learn to play well with two Russian officers when they fell into a case together involving a KGB agent who opened up fire in a restaurant after a woman refused to go back to Russia with him. They solved the case, and Danny was beyond ready to send those Russian officers back before they drove him even crazier.

On tonight’s episode, “The Thin Blue Line,” when Danny intercepts a shipment of several million dollars that was heading to a drug cartel in Mexico, he becomes a target when they come back for revenge. Also, Jamie works independently to track down a serial killer who preys on the elderly, and Mayor Poole confides in Frank that he plans to retire.

To see how Jamie does solo, tune in to CBS 10/9c.

On tonight’s Superstore season finale, there’s a storm brewing, both literally and figuratively. Last week it was Cheyenne’s wedding, and things got uncomfortable pretty quickly. Amy brought her husband with her – they were in the process of trying to fix their marriage, but it was easy to see that that wasn’t really going well. When someone referred to Jonah as Amy’s “work husband,” it immediately put him on the defensive, making things really awkward for his date, Kristen. She ultimately broke up with Jonah after he asked her to move in with him as a way to change the subject of conversation. And after much drinking, Jonah let it slip that he finds Amy sexy. Meanwhile, Sandra’s crush Jerry came to the reception as Carol’s date, but he ditched her to spend time with Sandra after she revealed that she didn’t really have a boyfriend. And Glenn was still struggling with the idea of having to fire people, so he invited Jeff to the reception in hopes that he would see some of the poorer staff members and reverse his decision. However, when Mateo saw Jeff, his mind started racing and old feelings started coming back. Soon there was a bit of chaos, and Glenn blurted out the fact that he was going to have to lay off some staff.

How will the Cloud 9-ers react to the news that some of them will be losing their jobs? Will Glenn find a way to avoid this, and if not, who will he let go? Will Amy and Jonah finally get together? So many questions, but I’m also hoping that tonight’s tornado storyline blows us away. This reminds me of the sitcoms of the 80s and 90s, where every show always had at least one episode that revolved around some major storm approaching – there was even one network that weaved the same hurricane through its entire comedy block. I’m looking forward to being swept up by tonight’s finale.

On tonight’s season finale, “Tornado,” Glenn tries to figure out which employees to lay off; Jonah copes with the fallout of an admission he made to Amy; Garrett and Dina spar; and Mateo creates an alliance to keep his job. Also: a tornado warning goes into effect and forces the staff into uncomfortable pairings.

To see how the tornado affects the store and staff, tune in to NBC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces, The Amazing Race, The Blacklist, MasterChef: Junior, and Riverdale.
