If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/31/13

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday—this week has been flying by! Although, it’s been a bit of a struggle keeping up with all this week’s boatload of new TV (when did Mondays and Tuesdays become the new Sundays?!). While tonight seems like an unusually lighter Thursday (at least for me), there’s still plenty of stuff to watch. So let’s get on to what we recommend you check out tonight.

Kyle’s Choice #1

donoharm131smallTonight, NBC kicks off its new Jekyll and Hyde series, Do No Harm. Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale) is a successful neurosurgeon with a secret—he has Dissociative Identity Disorder. At night, his evil alter ego, Ian Price, tries to come out and take over his body. Cole had been managing to use drugs to suppress his alternate identity, but Price is growing immune to their effects. Now Cole must to try to find another way to control Price and to keep the details of his own life a secret so that Price can’t hurt the ones he loves. The series also stars Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Alana De La Garza (CSI: Miami), Ruta Gedmintas (The Borgias), and Samm Levine (NCIS).

This show was a surprise hit for me. When I first saw the description for the series, I thought it was just going to be another boring, unoriginal show. However, when I watched the pilot, I immediately hooked and wanted to see more. It’s sort of like Dexter meets House meets mystery drama. I found it to be very creative and loved the tense twists and turns. And I think Steven Pasquale (who will always be “that guy from Recue Me” to me) does an excellent job at playing both roles.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” after five years of peace, Dr. Cole’s sinister alter ego is back with a vengeance.

Don’t miss the premiere tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Do No Harm @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/10/13

There’s been a flurry of new and returning shows this week. While it’s great to finally get some new stuff to watch, I kinda miss that calm month’s break—I’m already struggling to keep up with the TiVo! Tonight, a bunch more shows return, and 1600 Penn officially premieres. So here’s what we think you should check out tonight…

greysanatomy110smallWhen we last saw Grey’s Anatomy, Doctor Bailey was getting wedding day jitters, Callie performed Derek’s hand surgery with assistance from Jackson, and Owen and Christina made up after discovering the real reason for the divorce papers. At the end of the episode, Bailey and Richard were on their way to the wedding ceremony when they received a call that Adele was in the emergency room. They turned the car around and rushed to the ER, where Bailey started on Adele’s surgery (in her gown).

I have a feeling this wedding isn’t going to happen. I mean, Bailey obviously doesn’t want to get married—she didn’t even have the decency to give Ben a heads-up that she was going to be late (if she gets there at all)! It’s not like she couldn’t have made a call while they were driving back to the hospital to let Ben and everyone else waiting at the church know what was going on!

On tonight’s episode, “Things We Said Today,” Bailey’s wedding is in limbo while she focuses on saving Adele. Elsewhere, Cristina and Owen are indecisive about following through with their divorce; Arizona and Callie try to spice things up; and a group of injured bikers are brought to the hospital.

See if Bailey makes it down the aisle and if Cristina & Owen decide to STAY married tonight on ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grey’s Anatomy @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Last Resort, 30 Rock, The Office, 1600 Penn, and Sweet Genius.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/4/12

I’m excited that I finally got my iPhone 5 yesterday—I gave up on my seemingly useless Best Buy preorder and managed to secure one at the Apple store. With the ample free space and improved camera over my iPhone 4, I should now be all set for the Syfy Digital Press Tour in less than two weeks! Last night, we got a bit of a breather with the presidential debate, but the packed TV schedule returns again tonight. Here’s what we recommend you check out tonight.

Last week, CBS kicked off its own version of the Sherlock story with the premiere of the new series Elementary. This modern-day adaptation takes place in New York City, where the eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) serves as a consultant to the NYPD. When Holmes is released from rehab, his wealthy father hires former surgeon Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) to help ensure he stays sober. Watson assists him in his cases as well as in keeping his life on track.

This is an interesting new take on the iconic detective. I think Holmes’s eccentricity could be toned down a tad, but I really enjoyed Lucy Liu as a female Watson. The chemistry between the actors is great, and I like that they didn’t go the romantic route with Holmes and Watson. This series and its characters are different enough from the UK Sherlock series that I don’t have any issues with there being two “Sherlock” shows on TV right now. I’m looking forward to watching Holmes and Watson solve interesting new mysteries each week.

In tonight’s episode, “While You Were Sleeping,” Holmes investigates the murder of a young man who was shot upon entering his apartment. Meanwhile, Watson meets her ex-boyfriend for dinner.

See if you enjoy this new take on Sherlock Holmes tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Elementary @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Last Resort, Grey’s Anatomy, 30 Rock, Up All Night, The Office, Parks and Recreation, The X Factor, Glee, Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

Last week on Community, we found out the study group had one of their final exams postponed, which allowed them all a bit of freedom. Annie talked Abed into letting her spend some time in the dreamatorium with him. Unfortunately, an innocent simulation of how lunch between Troy and Britta might go turned into a fantastical examination of the study group.

Tonight, on “Basic Lupine Urology,” when the study group’s science experiment is destroyed, they try to find the criminal and save the grade. When Troy and Abed think they have discovered the perpetrator, a professor (guest star Michael K. Williams) reluctantly presides over a trial.

Tune in to NBC at 8/7c and don’t forget to bring your study guide! Learn where to find episodes online of Community @ Clicker.

I’m also watching The Office, Awake, 30 Rock, and Kathy tonight!

Last week on NY Ink, Megan and Jessica strutted their stuff at pole dancing and perfected their skills. Megan also had some risque photos exposed that she’d taken. Ami and Billy got into a fight after Billy tried tackling an elaborate tattoo. Tila Tequila dropped by for some ink to honor her parents.

Tonight, Ami heads off to South Beach for some quality daddy-daughter time and to kick back with the men of Love/Hate.

Catch an all new episode tonight on TLC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of NY Ink @ Clicker.
