If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/28/13

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to work we go… I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! We had a pretty good day here, and now we’re ready to settle into the summer routine of being home alone all summer with my kiddo. Eek. LOL I don’t know about you, but I’ll be glad to have new TV every night to relax and unwind to. 😉

Jenny’s Choice #1

littlecouple528smallI’ve become enamored with The Little Couple this season. Jen & Bill are just the sweetest couple and really fun to watch. Both are under four feet tall. He owns his own business. She is a doctor (neonatologist, I think…). And they’ve been trying to have a baby. After problems with invitro and a miscarriage with their surrogate, they decided to adopt. They finally decided on a little boy (a couple of years old) from China they’ve named Will and a little girl (8 months old) from India they’ve named Zoey…and both are dwarves as well. Last week, Jen & Bill went to China to adopt their son. At the end of the episode, they were waiting in the room of the hotel, waiting for their adoption liason to bring the little boy in. It’s so nerve-racking, but so exciting!

On tonight’s episode, “Best Day Yet!” the big day arrives as Bill and Jen anxiously wait to meet their new son William, but nervousness and anxiety overwhelm them.

See the new family tonight on TLC at 10:30/9:30c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/16/13

Let me start by saying that I appreciate the Hydro One workers who worked feverously to get the hydro back on throughout Eastern Ontario after that crazy ice storm. I also greatly appreciate the luxury of flushing my toilet (I’m on a well—no power means no water) and being able to have a shower. (Jenny, I didn’t smell quite that bad… Close, though. lol)

Secondly and most importantly, our hearts are with all of the people who were and are affected by the incident in Boston. Thank you to all the first responders and good samaritans who are helping. None of us can begin to understand the why behind this tragedy, but our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I’m the only one posting today, so read on to see what I think you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

bodyofproof416smallBody of Proof has really been intriguing and brought us some solid story lines this season so far. I’ve really like the addition of Tommy as the lead detective as well as Megan’s ex-boyfriend from New York. Last week’s episode had Megan having to prove Tommy’s innocence in a murder investigation, even when all the evidence pointed directly at him. In the end, Megan saved the day as usual, and it seems like there is more of a romance blooming there again than it originally seemed.

On tonight’s episode, “Disappearing Act,” a wealthy fund manager accused of defrauding investors is kidnapped; Megan gets closer to discovering the truth about her dad.

To see if Megan can solve the mystery about her dad, tune in to ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Body of Proof @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching Hell’s Kitchen, Hart of Dixie, The Voice, and Counting Cars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/2/13

It’s a rather slow week for new TV, which is a good and bad thing for me. I have 37% free space on my DVR…but I’m watching as much as I can. Several of those things are entire seasons (Continuum, Justified, The Americans, The Bible, & Vikings) not to mention a handful of episodes of a few shows, as well… Still, there’s a few good shows on tonight, so we’re here to give you our top picks for the night. 😀

Jenny’s Choice #1

thenewnormal42asmallI have really enjoyed The New Normal since it premiered in September. I absolutely love the relationship between David & Bryan and Goldie & Shania. David & Bryan genuinely care about Goldie & Shania, even apart from the fact that she is carrying their son. I hated Clay at the beginning, but now…I guess I can’t help but like him. He really seems to be changing for the better and really trying for Shania especially. I hated that he came on and stayed, but now, I don’t think it is such a bad thing that he’s there. Tonight is two new episodes, which includes the season finale. Things don’t look great for renewal, but surprises have happened, so I’m not counting it out before we hear for certain. All season has been leading to Bryan & David’s wedding and the arrival of their baby. Will we get both tonight?

thenewnormal42bsmallOn tonight’s first episode, “Finding Name-O,” Bryan & David are facing the hardest decision of their relationship, what to name their baby. The conflict prompts Goldie to reveal the origin of Shania’s name leading to brief identity crises for both of them. Later, while breezing through their wedding planning, David suggests that Bryan invite his mother Colleen (guest star Mary Kay Place), but her added opinion leads to more conflict and an unusual resolution. Meanwhile, Clay decides it’s time to let Goldie know how he feels, after receiving some unsolicited advice from Brice (guest star John Stamos).

Then on the second episode, “The Big Day,” the wedding is finally here, and despite all of the challenges that pop up throughout the day, Bryan and David are dead set on getting married before the arrival of their baby, but their son has other plans.

Don’t miss the last two episodes of the season tonight on NBC at 9:01/8:01c & 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of The New Normal @ TV.com.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/5/13

I just have to say that last night, I watched Breaking Dawn 2 for the first time, and…damn. It was everything I’d hoped for and more. I was blown away by the story and the way the movie ended the series. Now, on to television… Last night’s Bones was great and incredibly sad. I’m glad to see that tonight, we’ll get some more great episodes. Read on to find out all our thoughts on what we recommend. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

ncisla35smallLast week’s episode of NCIS: LA focused on Sam, when he became too invested in a case involving an Afghani man who helped him years ago overseas. It was a very sad case, actually. The man had given Sam “lokhay,” which basically amounted to hiding him from the bad guys. The man’s nephew blamed him for the other men killing their entire family, and he was helping set up Sam to get killed.

This week’s episode once again features Sam…and while I’m okay with that, I think we’re overdue for a good Deeks-centric episode, don’t you think? 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Wanted,” Sam fears for his family’s safety when his wife is called to resume a former CIA cover after a case suggests ties to the infamous Sidorov and his stolen nukes. Aunjanue Ellis guest stars as Sam’s wife.

See if Sam’s wife can come out okay in the end tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS: LA @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, The Taste, The New Normal, Body of Proof, Chopped, Cougar Town, Justified, & Robot Combat League.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/19/13

Did everyone have a good day off yesterday? If you didn’t have it off, I hope you at least had a decent Monday. I did some writing, watched some TV, and enjoyed the cool, cloudy weather. I’m glad that today is a normal day, though, because the kiddo can go back to school. Yay! Finally! LOL As for tonight, there’s some great stuff on, so we’re here to tell you what we think you should be watching. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

bodyofproof219smallAt the end of last season of Body of Proof, I was not a happy camper. Peter had been gravely injured by a serial killer that Megan first helped put away; the man escaped prison by killing the guard who was in cahoots with him. Of course, that was after everything Peter had already been through with his girlfriend Dani dying from the whole bioterrorist attack. Poor guy just couldn’t catch a break! I hated that they left it there, with Peter in Megan’s arms, dying unless he was saved in time. Then, over the summer, we found out that not only was Nicholas Bishop (Peter) not returning, neither were John Carroll Lynch (Bud) or Sonja Sohn (Sam). I really loved Peter (although I loved him more before Dani. but whatever), so I was sad that he wouldn’t be back. And how would they write out the three characters?? It was so crazy & sad to think about.

Then I found out they had cast two new actors to play cops that work with Megan…and while I didn’t know the first guy, the second name I did know: Mark Valley. I will ALWAYS think of him as the guy from Keen Eddie, even though he’s been on other things for longer and more recently. But my hubs and I both ADORE him. THEN I heard he was going to be playing an old love interest of Megan’s and there would be a spark still, and I was even more thrilled. And I was right to be. I’ve seen the first two episodes, and they are really, really good. I will miss Peter especially, but Mark Valley’s Tommy is a welcome and fresh edition to the cast, I think.

On tonight’s episode, “Abducted, Part 1,” Megan returns to work months after the events of that fateful night, and she is surprised by a man from her past: Tommy Sullivan, the new detective assigned to her case. Megan, along with Tommy and his rookie partner, Adam Schaeffer (Elyes Gabel, Game of Thrones), must stop a serial killer whose victims are young war veterans. As she learns more about the crime, the stakes rise when she gets a call from the killer…who is holding her teenage daughter, Lacey, hostage.

Don’t miss the season premiere tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Body of Proof @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Raising Hope, The Taste, Cult, NCIS: LA, The New Normal, Cougar Town, Justified, & Total Blackout.
