Ramblings of a Shipper’s Heart: The Woe of Woo

The other day, I was looking at shows that are building up on my DVR, and Scott, my husband, just shook his head and sighed. I have six episodes of Burn Notice (which includes last season’s finale) and five episodes of Royal Pains on there. That’s every episode of the first and all but the first two episodes of the second so far this season. I can’t bring myself to watch them (although I have hopes about that changing soon with Burn Notice…). Why? Because I hate a story line so much on both shows that I can’t enjoy the shows themselves. And yes, the title of this post is about a Shipper (which, if you don’t know, means someone who roots for a certain relationship (ergo, “shipper”) from a TV show, movie, book, whatever. Not all of this rant is about relationship woes on TV, but I suppose there is an underlying theme for most of them. 😉

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/13/12

As I write this post up, I have the mother of all headache, post-nasal drip, and I swear, if I blow my nose any more, I’m going to end up with nothing left in my head. Being sick SUCKS, just FYI. On a brighter note, there’s tons of great TV on tonight, so let’s get to it!

I debated what to put first tonight, because I love both of my picks so much, but I gotta go with Cougar Town. This show is killer comedy. The cast is so deliciously funny together, and it just feels completely natural. They really do seem like they are the best of friends (especially Jules, Ellie, and Laurie), and the relationships between Travis and his parents are so real, it’s scary. I love that Jules and Grayson are engaged and planning their wedding (as much as she’ll allow him to help her!). This is really one of my favorite comedies on TV. I’ve already seen this week’s episode, and it is fantastic. As hard as Bobby tries to impress Travis’s photography teacher, absolutely nothing goes as planned. But the best part are the guest stars… Not only is Scrubs alum Sarah Chalke on again this week (and of course, Bob Clendenin as neighbor Tom), but so are Sam Lloyd & Ken Jenkins, both of whom have guest-starred before, and there might be a few more surprises along the way. All in all, it’s a great half hour and totally worth watching.

On tonight’s episode, “A One Story Town,” Jules and the gang decide Bobby needs some help romancing Angie, so they launch “operation kiss-the-girl.” Meanwhile, other former Scrubs cast turn up, as Ted (Sam Lloyd) and the Peons pass through on their way to audition at Disney World.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC at 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Cougar Town @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/6/12

How much do I love that Jimmy & Sabrina are now a couple on Raising Hope? I am still a little worried that it will screw up the dynamics of the show, but I have to trust Greg Garcia & the writers to do right by the viewers. Last week was fun, what with the two of them trying to figure out whether to truly be themselves or to hide the quirks and flaws…and farts. *laugh* It’s something almost every new couple has to deal with. Seeing Sabrina’s quirk about sleeping with pantyhose on her head because she was afraid of spiders crawling into her head when she slept was great. And then that fear landed Jimmy in the hospital? Fantastic. I can’t wait to see where they take this.

On tonight’s episode, “Single White Female Role Model,” Sabrina is arrested after participating in an Occupy Natesville protest and is sentenced to two weeks in prison. One of the prison attendant’s (special guest star Katy Perry!) claims to be a friend from her past and will stop at nothing to make Sabrina’s stay in the slammer as dreadful as possible until she remembers their childhood friendship. Meanwhile, the mayor of Natesville grants Virginia three wishes after she helps her avoid a public scandal, but when Jimmy turns down the mayor’s advances, Sabrina’s chances of being exonerated are put at risk.

Laugh along with the crazy tonight on FOX in its new time slot at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Raising Hope @ Clicker.

Body of Proof continues to be an amazing show. It is the unique perspective that Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) brings to her cases that keeps viewers fascinated. Additional kudos go to her fellow cast members for their humor and intelligence, which brings this show such a well roundedness that it makes it worth tuning in to see. It’s also what got this show a renewal for next season.

Tonight, Megan picks up the case of a young philanthropic socialite. After the autopsy, Megan clearly detects the probability of foul play. Unfortunately, the investigation gets interrupted, and even deterred, by a tiny problem with Kate’s (Jerri Ryan) personal life. She happens to be dating Megan’s exhusband!

Tune in at 10/9c to ABC to see what Megan discovers on this week’s season finale of Body of Proof! Learn where to find episodes online of Body of Proof @ Clicker.
