If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/29/12

It’s the start of a new week, but thankfully, it’s still the weekend, which means we can sit back and relax tonight and watch all the great new TV. Check out what we think you should be watching tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

Tonight is the 2-hour season finale of A&E’s Breakout Kings. It’s been a great season. We got hit with Charlie’s death at the beginning, and all season, the team has been dealing with the fallout. Ray got his badge back and is in charge now, which is great. I liked him more than I liked Charlie because he was an obviously flawed man who was trying to make things right. Last episode was crazy good. Lloyd got his hopes up about the pen Juliann gave him, but she told him she just thinks of him as a good friend. I’m kind of pissed at her because instead of giving him a pen, she should have just given him nothing or flat out told him. Because of that, Lloyd was all too happy to get out of the office to go find the clue Damian left him…which ended up getting him kidnapped. Damian forced him to play cards, and when Lloyd won, rather than letting the girl go like he’d told Lloyd he would, he killed her. Lloyd barely reacted when Juliann finally got to him, but he told Ray he quit at the end of the episode. Nooooo. I love Lloyd. I’ll be sad if he doesn’t come back next season!

Erica learned that the “club” guy from downstairs had been using her after the guy she got an address for turned up beaten in his home and the club guy’s office was empty. I KNEW from the very first episode that the guy was bad news and not what he seemed. Erica is PISSED off. Oh man… lol And then on the case front, it dealt with ex-soldiers who had been mislead about who they were taking out on a mission and when they learned the truth, they started getting killed. The guy who escaped prison knew that and was determined to out the people responsible. I was sad that Shea (interesting that his grandfather had ties to the IRA, yeah??) crushed up the evidence the escapee had given him for safekeeping. I mean, I get it…everyone who came in contact with it was being killed…but still. 🙁 Tonight’s season finale looks INSANE. It’s going to be scary and thrilling, all at once.

On tonight’s first hour, “Freakshow,” Max Doyle was an orphan raised in the circus with an ax to grind. All his life Max has felt a lack of belonging, a feeling that was only partially assuaged by turning himself into a premiere escape artist. It’s that talent that the Breakout Kings are up against as they track Max.

This in tonight’s second hour, “Served Cold,” Damien has upped the psychotic ante with the Breakout Kings, and now it’s personal. Still barred from working on the Damien case, the Kings do what they need to do to bring their nemesis down. In the end, the team will be faced with an impossible choice.

Don’t miss the 2-hour season finale tonight on A&E starting at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Breakout Kings @ Clicker.

I’m also going to be watching/DVRing Cupcake Wars, Chopped All Stars, & NYC 22.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/25/12

A year ago today, I became a mom for the second time. I held in my arms the most adorable, mischievous, quizzical, and sweet little boy, Pherson. Happy 1st Birthday, Pherson. The world became a brighter and louder place the moment you were born. 🙂

Now that I’ve gushed about my precious boy, let’s see what you should be watching on television tonight, shall we?

Every week, GCB gets a little bit nuttier, and I have been soaking up every delicious second of it. Last week, we watched as Carlene and her husband, Ripp, had marital issues – brought on by Ripp’s obsession on finding the money that Bill stole from him. We also watched Cricket get her “work out” by the tae kwon do instructor (he was super hot) and then later learned what a toll this faux marriage takes on her psyche. We also watched as Amanda is working on getting past her issues with Bill, but we also got a hint that he may actually be alive. Eek! I’m looking forward to Amanda and Carlene going head to head more, because I love the crazy bitchy behaviour.

On tonight’s episode, “A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,” Carlene’s Uncle Burl returns to town with his wife, Bitsy, and Gigi promises to throw them a homecoming party requiring guests to come dressed as their favorite Texan. Meanwhile, Blake recruits Amanda to consult for Cricket and Blake’s denim line, Pastor Tudor counsels Sharon and Zack during their rough patch – resulting in Sharon’s working at the church and Zach’s taking over Sharon’s duties at home – and Heather is after Burl’s 500 acres of land for her client, Andrew.

To watch this insane bitchy drama and have a good laugh, tune in to ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of GCB @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching and DVRing The Amazing Race, Once Upon a Time, The Good Wife, Harry’s Law, Desperate Housewives, and CSI: Miami.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/18/12

Did everyone have a good St. Patrick’s Day? Mine was ok. We got caught up a lot on TV on Friday & Saturday night, so I’m prepared for all the great new episodes this week. Speaking of new episodes, let’s see what we think you should be watching tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

Last week’s episode of Breakout Kings was great for a lot of reasons. The team was just back to work after Charlie’s murder, and each was grieving in their own way. Ray talked with Erica and said that with Charlie gone, he needed her to step up and be a leader (going so far as to give her a gun in the middle of the case when it could be life or death—which it kind of ended up being). When no one would talk to the psychiatrist provided by the Marshalls, Ray tried to get everyone to talk to Lloyd. That didn’t work out so well, either. Eventually, they were all able to at least voice some of what they were feeling, and they all shared a shot (that Erica borrowed from the guy downstairs that we saw in the season premiere). Ray moved out of the halfway house, but at the “office,” he refused to move into Charlie’s office. Julianne took it upon herself to move him in while the team was away for the case, and she and the team let him know he needed to step up and be the leader Charlie knew he could be and that they knew he could be—that he needed to believe in himself as much as everyone else did.

As for the case… It was interesting because one of the two escapees was an undercover Fed, and although Shea thought for sure he had turned dirty. He was wrong…which we learned when Lloyd and Erica visited the guy’s home, only to find his wife and son kidnapped and the guy’s safe word for extraction written on the bathroom door in lipstick as a signal that she was in trouble. I have to say my favorite part of the episode was Lloyd distracting the kidnappers and then he and Erica working together to take them down and rescue the wife & son. My second favorite part was Lloyd getting tazed. Fantastic. I’m looking forward to seeing how the team continues to function with Charlie gone and Ray getting his footing as a Marshall with a badge and being the guy in charge.

On tonight’s episode, “Double Down,” Travis Muncey, actor and stool pigeon, escapes from prison. The Breakout Kings quickly find and snatch him back, only to discover that Travis is the key to capturing an even bigger fish. Things get serious when one of the team is kidnapped, and no holds are barred to make the team whole again.

Check it out tonight on A&E at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Breakout Kings @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching Cupcake Wars, Worst Cooks in America, Coming Home, CSI: Miami, & the series premiere of Unchained Reaction (hosted by Jamie and Adam from Mythbusters).

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/11/12

It’s the start of another week, and there’s some sports on this week, so it’s a bit of another slow week. There’s some good stuff on tonight, though, with some fan favorites, so check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

If you have been a fan of Breakout Kings since day one especially, or if you just tuned in for the first time last week, the last ten minutes just HAD to have shocked you. I heard about it on Twitter before I got to see the episode, so I knew Charlie was going to die, but it still took me by surprise. Seeing the gang gathered around trying to save him (or yelling at Lloyd to save him – even though Lloyd doesn’t have a MEDICAL degree lol) was fantastic and so heart-wrenching. The case set up future episodes well, too, as the bad guy stole Charlie’s badge and will be posing as him and coming after Lloyd later this season. It was so great. I love this show because it mixes drama with some great lighter moments, but the premise is just so damn interesting. Using cons to catch cons. That’s not a new idea, but it’s the best I’ve ever seen it portrayed.

On tonight’s episode, “Round Two,” a gang of vicious criminals escapes prison via an underground tunnel. The Breakout Kings find themselves cooperating with the FBI after learning one of the gang members is actually an undercover agent. When it starts to look like the undercover agent may have been turned, the pressure is on for the Kings to hunt them down and discover the truth. All the while, the team must struggle with the loss of one of their own.
