It’s the end of the work week, and even television needs a rest (as well as Jenny and Megan ;)). Fridays have become quite the dead TV night lately. However, I’ve got a recommendation to help you start the weekend off with some laughs.
Kyle’s Choice
A couple weeks ago, IFC premiered a pair of new parody comedy shows: Comedy Bang! Bang!, a parody of a late night talk show, and Bunk, a parody of panel game show. Each week on Bunk, host Kurt Braunohler introduces the three comedian panelists. Each contestant then describes the non-charitable cause he or she will be playing for—things like being reunited with their birth parents or learning to clog. Then they participate in challenges to earn points—where the the topics include things like Shame that Puppy, Whose Crotch is Hotter, and Lie to a Child. As the game advances, some players even win things to help them with the cause they are playing for—like maybe a genealogy expert or a Dutch woman. When the week’s winner is announced, they do actually get their cause—however crazy as it may have sounded!
I loved this show from the moment I watched the premiere. It is one of the most bizarre and wacky game shows I’ve ever seen. It almost seems like they are just making up the rules as they go along. They’ve brought on some really hilarious comedians, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of this madness.
In tonight’s episode, panelists Tom Lennon, Chris Gethard, and Nicole Parker compete in challenges, including one to “invent new sins.”
Check it out tonight on IFC at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bunk @ Clicker.
Tonight, I’ll also be watching Common Law.
