grimm124smallI’m kind of loving Grimm this season. I was so tired of Juliette and the whole story line with her being turned into a Wessen. Nick is harder this season, but I’m kind of digging that – and I love his relationship now with Adalind. We’ll see if she changes personalities again, but as of now, it’s great. On the last new episode, a rich mobster Wessen challenged three other Wesen to compete for his daughter’s heart/hand in marriage. The challenge was they had to kill the man the mobster felt was responsible for his son’s death. The problem was, the men kept getting killed before they could actually kill the guy. It turned out to be the daughter doing the killing, much to her father’s shock. My favorite part was the potential dead man going absolutely crazy when he saw the mobster change from human-looking to his Wessen self. Wu’s reaction throughout the episode dealing with that guy was hysterical, given that he’d been in that position before.

On tonight’s episode, “Rat King,” Nick and Hank are called to the scene when three Wesen go out on a hunt at a local dump and get more than they bargained for when two turn up dead after they encounter the mythical Rat King. Meanwhile, a very badly wounded Trubel (guest star Jacqueline Toboni) is taken to the hospital, and Nick finally meets Meisner (guest star Damien Puckler).

Find out if Trubel survives tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Last Man Standing, MasterChef: Junior, Undateable, Unforgettable, Truth Be Told, & American Diner Revival.

theknick1120smallMy pick of the night is once again The Knick, as it’s one of the few Friday shows I actually make sure I watch on Friday night. Last week, an explosion at the subway line construction site caused a flood of emergency patients at The Knick. Cleary saw this as a money-making opportunity and paid off the other ambulance drivers a fraction of their fee in cash in exchange for the money owed to them by the hospital. However, his industrious plan backfired when the president of The Knick declared that no money would be made off the devastating accident. Meanwhile, Thackary performed open brain surgery on his addict patient, trying to cure him of his addictions, but ended up leaving the man a vegetable. Barrow finally paid off his debt to Ping Wu but made plans to “free” one of Ping Wu’s girls and set her up in a new apartment. Lucy was inspired by something one of the prostitutes said to her and used this to manipulate a new man she was interested in. Bertie was denied permission to research a cancer treatment that might help his mother, but his day got better when he brought Genevieve home for a family dinner, and they all fell in love with her. And Harriet quickly became a pariah at the boardinghouse, with the nuns promising punishment to anyone who even spoke to her.

I just thoroughly enjoy this show each week. There’s so many different storylines going on, but they are all interesting. With Doctor Thackary, we also get a bit of a MacGyver thing going on each week – like last week when we saw him make a makeshift metal detector out of a lamp in order to locate shrapnel in a victim’s body. And it’s always amazing to see these barbaric medical procedures that were considered to be at the forefront of medicine at the time. The show is also delving into some dark, controversial topics like eugenics, with Dr. Gallinger getting the proprietor of the “Idiot House” to steralize all the boys so they couldn’t produce more morons.

Last week, we saw just how bad off Bertie’s mother is. Will Bertie and/or Genevieve be able to convince someone at Mt. Sinai to let him research a cure? What crazy (and gory) medical procedure will we see Thackary perform next? I can’t wait to find out…and see what’s going to happen with the rest of the characters!

On tonight’s episode, “There are Rules,” Bertie is faced with a quandary at Mt. Sinai, which leads to him take matters into his own hands and enlist help from Algernon; Thackery considers using hypnosis, while taking an interest in conjoined twins. Later, Lucy lobbies Henry for an invite to a gala; Cornelia visits the brother of a deceased immigrant who had ties to Speight; Gallinger has an unwelcome dinner guest; Barrow checks out a new home for Junia; and Harriet agrees to make some changes.

Check out the medical fun tonight on Cinemax at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, Undateable, Truth Be Told, Grimm, MasterChef: Junior, and Z Nation.

hawaiifiveo116smallThere were a lot of fun moments on last week’s Hawaii Five-0. First off… Jerry as a vampire going to the blood bank to donate blood? Hysterical. The fact that armed thieves then broke in to that same blood bank and steal blood? Ahh, vampires… LOL Danny had to get Grace from an unsupervised party…where she was looking awfully grown up! I loved him practicing what he was going to say to her. And I swooned when he walked through the hospital with Charlie – who looked adorable in a cowboy costume – giving out candy instead of getting it. The case started with an awesome chase through the woods. I wouldn’t have guessed it was pretend, not real. It was fun…until they tripped over the gross body. That led to the discovery of multiple bodies, and what that led to turned out out to be horrifying. A man was killing young women and taking specific body parts to create his own perfect woman. It was a modern-day Frankenstein. Chilling.

On tonight’s episode, “Na Kama Hele (Day Trippers),” McGarrett’s first date with Lynn (Sarah Carter) on a deserted island turns deadly when a mob boss hiding there hunts them down in order to keep his location a secret. Also, Chin, Kono, and Grover must race against the game clock to locate the father of a high school football star who will be murdered by a local gambler if his son doesn’t throw the big game.

See if the team can rescue the father and how McGarrett’s date ends up tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Last Man Standing, MasterChef: Junior, Undateable, Truth Be Told, Grimm, Blue Bloods, & BBQ Blitz.

truthbetold1016smallMy pick tonight is the series premiere of Truth Be Told (fka People are Talking), NBC’s latest comedy about two diverse couples who are both neighbors and best friends. As they go through life side-by-side, they can’t help but analyze and obsess about everything. From topics like sex and race, to the fact that the trusted new babysitter might just be a porn star, nothing is out of bounds for this wildly outspoken foursome. The cast includes Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tone Bell, Vanessa Lachey, and Bresha Webb.

I’ve seen the pilot (although, it might have been an old version of it…) and really enjoyed it. Of course, Mark-Paul Gosselaar is one of my favorites – he has been since Saved By the Bell – but I love Tone Bell in this as well. I have to say the “babysitter might just be a porn star” was my favorite story line of the pilot, but I liked it all.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Angie’s ex-boyfriend hooks her up with four tickets to the Jay-Z concert. Her husband, Russell, is wary, but her best friends Mitch and Tracy are thrilled with the opportunity to have a fun night out. But first, Tracy and Mitch have to scramble to find a babysitter for their daughter. Mitch fears Kimberly (guest star Antonimar Murphy), the leading candidate, is too attractive. Meanwhile, Russell voices an even bigger concern about the babysitter.

See if this new comedy makes you laugh tonight on NBC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Last Man Standing, Undateable, Dr. Ken, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, & BBQ Blitz.
