If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/10/12

t’s Friday, Friday, Gotta get down on Friday, Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend… I don’t really have much more to add to Rebbeca Black’s ode to the weekend. Just glad it’s almost here. 🙂 Next week, Fridays kick back into gear with some returning shows, but tonight we get just a couple of season finales.

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, the freshman season of USA Network’s latest series, Common Law, comes to a close. Last week, Wes told Travis that he was having sex dreams about Dr. Ryan. Travis, of course, latched on to this to harass Wes—until he started having dreams of his own. Meanwhile, Dr. Ryan’s fiancé, Robert, went to the station to report an incident at his construction site. The guys secretly investigated the case but discovered that Robert may have been lying about the details of his attack. In the end, Robert was found innocent, but he had lied to Dr. Ryan. She broke off the engagement and, upset about their secret investigation, also told Wes and Travis that she had found them a new therapist.

I wasn’t a fan of this show right from the beginning. However, it has grown on me, and I find the interplay between the characters to be a lot of fun. It will be interesting to see how the guys react to their new—and seemingly a bit crazy, based on the short glimpse we got last week—therapist, played by Ed Begley, Jr. I doubt we have seen the last of Dr. Ryan, but it will be fun to see how the guys deal with a new style of therapy, if only for an episode.

In tonight’s episode, “Gun!” Wes and Travis finally share the story of what landed them in therapy.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching the season finale of Bunk.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/18/12

It’s been kind of a long week for me, so I’m VERY glad it’s Friday! What about you? On a positive note, the networks have all come out with trailers and/or clips for most of their new pilots and some of them look AMAZING. There are others that…well, not so much, but I’m excited for a good number of them! We’ll be watching the screeners as they become available to us and will post our thoughts on the pilots themselves, so keep an eye out! For now, check out what we think you should be watching tonight. 🙂

In what was a surprising move for most viewers, I think, The CW renewed Nikita for next season. I was thrilled because I love this show. It’s been ramping up to tonight’s season finale, and I can’t wait. On last week’s episode, the gang figured out Percy’s weapon, and the President bowed down to Percy’s demands. Nikita had to sneak into Division alone when they discovered the ladder in the silo was gone. Of course things didn’t go smoothly, and when Division guards rushed to where the team was gathered, Nikita told Michael to go ahead and detonate the motherboards they had been after. He had no choice but to do it, not knowing whether or not Nikita was clear of them. Also, Sean and Alex were in a shoot out with Division Alpha team, so we don’t know the fate of either of those two, either. Of course we know that Nikita can’t die…but can the show go on if Sean or Alex are killed? Sure. It wouldn’t be nearly as good, in my opinion, but it could… Eek! I hope it won’t have to!

On tonight’s season finale, “Homecoming,” Nikita and Michael invade Division in an attempt to capture Percy. Alex and Sean get caught in a deadly gunfire battle with the U.S. Marines, and Ryan must convince the President of the United States not to destroy Division until he is sure Nikita and Michael are safely out of the building, but the President is eager to end Percy’s reign. Meanwhile, Birkhoff asks Sonya for help, and Nikita corners Percy in his office, but he pulls out one final trick that may cost her the battle.

Gear up for an exciting finale tonight on The CW at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Nikita @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing Grimm & Common Law.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/11/12

Fridays are normally kind of slow, but tonight is definitely an exception, because not only are there five season finales tonight, there are also several other great episodes to round out our work week. There are so many, in fact, that Megan & I both just couldn’t leave it at one recommendation…and I couldn’t limit mine to two! *laugh* So read on to find out what we think you should be watching tonight. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

My first pick tonight is the finale of The Finder…for several reasons. First, I love the show. Second, I love when series star Geoff Stults and his brother George guest star on the other’s series (Geoff guest starred on 7th Heaven a couple of times when George was starring. Loved that. lol). And finally…well, it was announced this week that the show has been canceled. So tonight is going to be the last episode. Very sad for those of us that enjoy it!. On the last episode, it was a lot of fun seeing how each of the characters dealt with all the voodoo stuff. It was all sorts of craziness. First, Isabel was shot during a gang shootout at a funeral, in which a priest was killed and her partner on the stakeout was shot. One of the gang members then comes to Walter and asks him to find a voodoo doll that someone made of him. Isabel told him he had to do it, but Leo refused to participate (until later, when Walter himself was shot…). Luckily, a protection medal made for Walter by the “good witch” Willa brought to them earlier in the case saved him, and he was hurt but ok. Again, it was a fun episode because of the way everyone reacted to the voodoo and witchcraft aspects. 🙂

The biggest question for me going into tonight’s finale is Willa. All season, it’s been gearing up to her having to marry Timo. I can’t see the show letting that happen, so how will she get out of it? Will she wise up and say “Screw you!” to her gypsy family for good? By the way, if you are on Twitter, you should be following series creator & all around funny guy, @HartHanson. Tell him I sent you. 😉

On tonight’s series finale, “The Boy with the Bucket,” when Walter’s older brother Langston (guest star George Stults) comes to town, he asks Walter to visit their dying father (guest star John Ashton, Gone Baby Gone). As his dying wish, his father asks Walter to find his first love, Walter and Langston’s mother (guest star Annette O’Toole, Smallville). Taking on the most important search of his life, Walter battles obstacles which may prove to be insurmountable as his father’s health rapidly declines. Meanwhile, Willa is being forced to marry Timo by their Uncle Shadrack.

Check it out tonight on FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Finder @ Clicker.
