If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/11/13

My kids are off on March break (what we call our spring break here 😉 ), and that means I have a busy household full of kids wanting attention and someone to keep them amused—I should have taken lessons with the circus in my off time. 🙂 Tonight, they’ll go to bed and I’ll need some time to relax, so I’m looking forward to unwinding in front of the television. Let’s check out what’s on.

thefollowing311smallThe Following just gets more intense and creepy every episode! Last week, we watched as Carroll escaped prison by manipulating those around him, and he was united with Joey at a house filled with his faithful (yet disturbing) followers. I don’t know about you, but seeing a group of people that dedicated to a serial killer actually turned my stomach a bit! Now I’m just curious to see where we go from here, but wherever it is, I’m sure it’s going to be a twisty road.

On tonight’s episode, “Welcome Home,” with Joey Matthews still missing and the search for Joe Carroll escalating, the FBI brings in Nick Donovan (guest star Mike Colter) to run lead on the case, much to Ryan and Parker’s dismay. Meanwhile, a follower from the past meets up with Joe Carroll, and their plans have a life-threatening result.

To see the plot unfold more, tune in to FOX at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Following @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching The Bachelor and American Pickers.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/28/13

Happy Monday! What a way to start the week…with a high of 71 degrees. Woohoo! Sorry for those of you still in freezing temperatures, but I promise, it won’t last for me. We’re supposed to be back down in the 20s later this week. Boo! As for tonight, my window will be open to let in the nice air while I watch some great TV. What should you be watching? Read on to find out. 😉

thefollowing128smallI have to admit that even though I had access to the pilot (& more) of The Following before it aired, I waited to watch until it actually played last week. I wanted to watch it with my husband, and I knew I would enjoy it more if I hadn’t already watched it once already. I’m glad I did, because I wasn’t disappointed. We followed along with the story, hanging onto the edge of our seats. I TOTALLY called that the neighbors/friends weren’t really good guys, that they were two of “the followers,” although I did guess that they weren’t really gay, either. I guess we’ll see how that plays out. The show was totally creepy, from minute one until the very end. Kevin Bacon was everything I’d hoped he would be on a primetime show, and the supporting cast is great so far. I didn’t like Jeananne Goossen’s Jennifer Mason at first, but I liked her more toward the end. Unfortunately, she was only in the pilot, I believe, replaced by “cult expert” Debra Parker (played by Law & Order’s Annie Parisse). Shawn Ashmore (brother to Aaron, who stars in Syfy’s Warehouse 13) was great, and I can’t wait to see more of him. Overall, I’m excited to see more of the show, which is why it’s my first pick tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “Chapter Two,” Ryan Hardy, Agent Mike Weston, and FBI Specialist Debra Parker, who is brought in to lead the investigation into Joe Carroll and his followers, dive deeper into the history of Carroll’s psyche. To do so, they enlist the help of Carroll’s ex-wife, and Hardy’s former love, Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea). Meanwhile, Emma (Valorie Curry), Jacob (Nico Tortorella), and Paul (Adan Canto) keep Claire’s son Joey (Kyle Catlett) at a house in the country as they prepare for their next move.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/8/12

Less than a week ’til my kid starts high school. It doesn’t seem possible, I swear. What also doesn’t seem possible is that fall TV is right around the corner, but it is. I’m glad because, even though my DVR is full of stuff I need to watch, I’ve been missing some of the regular season shows something fierce! As for tonight, there’s plenty on to choose from, so to narrow it down, we’re going to give you our recommendations on what you should be watching. 🙂

There are lots of comedies on Wednesday nights this summer that make me laugh. One of them is TV Land’s The Exes. I really enjoy everything about it. One of my favorite episodes to date, though, had to be last week, when Holly realized after spending so much time with her pregnant assistant (who is so tiny, she looks like she swallowed a beach ball. lol) that she was ready to be a mother before it was too late. At first, the guys tried to find a donor for her, but when none of them worked out the way the guys had hoped, they each secretly (from each other…) volunteered their services. Of course, Holly realized in the end that she wasn’t ready to give up on love, so she froze some eggs, just in case, but watching the guys try to win her “uterus” was hysterical.

On tonight’s episode, “Lovers and Strangers,” Holly’s office crush, Paul, returns after recovering from a heart attack. Meanwhile, Stuart hires a cleaning lady to keep the apartment together, but she quickly turns Haskell’s life upside down. Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show) & Paula Jai Parker (Let’s Stay Together) guest star.

Laugh along with the funny tonight on TV Land at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Exes @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, The Soul Man, Top Chef Masters, Retired at 35, Go On, Restaurant Impossible, and the 2012 Olympics.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/13/12

Halfway through the week, and my DVR is getting tired! It’s been a busy week so far. Good thing tonight is a bit slower…but that’s not to say it’s boring. Check out what we think you should be watching, and then take our advice. Face it…we’re always right. 🙂

So You Think You Can Dance has been off to a good start this season, with a lot of amazing dancers. Last week, we saw a ton of hip hop and pop-lockers, all of which were amazing, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do in Vegas week. We also got treated to Debbie Allen as a judge last week, and I love her. She’s so amusing. Nigel had a few creepy old man moments…or was it just me that noticed?

On tonight’s episode, the auditions hit Salt Lake City, and more talent fights to join Vegas week.

To see who has the moves to go through to the next round, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of So You Think You Can Dance @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Duets and Dallas.
