If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/7/13

I couldn’t believe that my pick for last Thursday achieved record-setting ratings for the lowest in-season premiere on the major four networks ever in the history of ratings! (Have I mentioned how much I hate the Neilsen ratings?!) That said, I still stand by it—I really enjoyed the series and hope that the Nielsen families find it tonight because I want to see more. Speaking of seeing more, Thursdays are once again a packed night for new TV, and we’ve got some suggestions for what you should check out.

Kyle’s Choice

kingofthenerds27smallI’ve been enjoying TBS’s new reality competition series, King of the Nerds. In last week’s Nerd War, the teams had to fly tablet-controlled quadcopters through an obstacle course. It looked like the Orange team had it in the bag, but Virgil made a miraculous recovery for his team, giving them their first win. Despite Joshua’s promises not to vote for her, the Orange team put up Danielle, and the Blue team voted to put up Brandon. Seeing the intra-team strife it would cause if Danielle stayed, the blue team was hoping that Brandon would go home. They got their wish when Brandon failed at the Nerd-Off—he had a lot of trouble maneuvering his radio-controlled golf cart to push a ball into a goal.

Devastation is too weak of a word to describe my feelings when the Blue team won. I cannot stand Alana—I find her constant complaining and her low-energy excitement move so annoying. I really hope that Danielle won’t let Joshua’s “backstabbing” get her distracted—the Orange team needs to win this week and put Alana up for elimination!

On tonight’s episode, “Supernerds,” superhero trivia tests the nerds, with special guests Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.

Don’t miss the nerdy fun tonight on TBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of King of the Nerds @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/recording Do No Harm, The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Grey’s Anatomy, Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, 1600 Penn, Glee, Archer, Legit, and Suits.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/31/13

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday—this week has been flying by! Although, it’s been a bit of a struggle keeping up with all this week’s boatload of new TV (when did Mondays and Tuesdays become the new Sundays?!). While tonight seems like an unusually lighter Thursday (at least for me), there’s still plenty of stuff to watch. So let’s get on to what we recommend you check out tonight.

Kyle’s Choice #1

donoharm131smallTonight, NBC kicks off its new Jekyll and Hyde series, Do No Harm. Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale) is a successful neurosurgeon with a secret—he has Dissociative Identity Disorder. At night, his evil alter ego, Ian Price, tries to come out and take over his body. Cole had been managing to use drugs to suppress his alternate identity, but Price is growing immune to their effects. Now Cole must to try to find another way to control Price and to keep the details of his own life a secret so that Price can’t hurt the ones he loves. The series also stars Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Alana De La Garza (CSI: Miami), Ruta Gedmintas (The Borgias), and Samm Levine (NCIS).

This show was a surprise hit for me. When I first saw the description for the series, I thought it was just going to be another boring, unoriginal show. However, when I watched the pilot, I immediately hooked and wanted to see more. It’s sort of like Dexter meets House meets mystery drama. I found it to be very creative and loved the tense twists and turns. And I think Steven Pasquale (who will always be “that guy from Recue Me” to me) does an excellent job at playing both roles.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” after five years of peace, Dr. Cole’s sinister alter ego is back with a vengeance.

Don’t miss the premiere tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Do No Harm @ Clicker.

Trailers for New Fall Shows on NBC & Our Thoughts

You saw all the trailers and our thoughts on the new shows for ABC. Now check out the same for the new NBC shows!

Link to Revolution on NBC.com.

Jenny’s Thoughts: I love the premise of this (like one of my other favorite shows ever, Jericho), and the cast is fantastic. Plus, it’s from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, so it’s got a brilliant backbone to it. Here’s hoping it’s a hit! – Excited
Megan’s Thoughts: I am getting a little sick of the “end of the world”-type shows that pull me in and then disappoint. However, it is from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke – and I admit that I was drawn in by the fight scenes, so I’m intrigued, for sure. – Curious
Kyle’s Thoughts: This looks awesome – action, adventure, mystery! It’s like Jericho meets The Event meets Terra Nova and a lot of other epic series. I just hope it doesn’t go the route of those other shows. But I hope J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke have another big hit on their hands! – Excited
