Ramblings of a Shipper’s Heart: The Woe of Woo

The other day, I was looking at shows that are building up on my DVR, and Scott, my husband, just shook his head and sighed. I have six episodes of Burn Notice (which includes last season’s finale) and five episodes of Royal Pains on there. That’s every episode of the first and all but the first two episodes of the second so far this season. I can’t bring myself to watch them (although I have hopes about that changing soon with Burn Notice…). Why? Because I hate a story line so much on both shows that I can’t enjoy the shows themselves. And yes, the title of this post is about a Shipper (which, if you don’t know, means someone who roots for a certain relationship (ergo, “shipper”) from a TV show, movie, book, whatever. Not all of this rant is about relationship woes on TV, but I suppose there is an underlying theme for most of them. 😉

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/16/12

It’s been a busy summer so far. Kyle is making his way back from Comic-Con, and I’m sure he’ll have lots to tell us all. Mondays this summer seem to be overflowing with good television—almost too good because I can barely keep up. So let’s take a look at what we’re suggesting you concentrate on watching.

Megan’s Choice #1

I have been loving Bunheads. Michelle is strong, quirky, and absolutely hilarious. Then we have Fanny, who is eccentric, stubborn, and also quite funny. Together, they are comedic gold. Last week’s episode, we watching as Joffrey made Fanny jump through hoops, and Michelle suddenly stepped and helped to get the floors fixed. I also loved how Fanny insisted they weren’t seeing Boo, and she should try again with a new costume—she’s adorable. There is a strange food-related closeness between Boo and her mom—I hope they find some healthy group.

On tonight’s episode, “Money for Nothing,” Michelle is concerned when she discovers that the Fanny’s bill-paying method included old hat boxes and unconvential payment plans. After she finds herself in the middle of the collection process, Michelle decides to help Fanny better manage her finances. Michelle’s efforts could end up jeopardizing the upcoming Spring Flower Festival and Fanny’s original ballet, “Paper or Plastic.” Meanwhile, Boo’s relationship with the hot bartender at her new job makes the girls jealous.

To see if Michelle can help Fanny figure out the figures, tune in to ABC Family at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bunheads @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/9/12

It’s been an eventful weekend for me. I had a few days away, which were amazing beyond description—such a learning experience. Then I attended the fabulous celebration for my best friend’s 30th birthday. Crazy to think in just 10 short days, I’ll be leaving my twenties behind, as well. Eek! To keep my mind off my advancing age, let’s take a look at what you should be watching tonight.

Hell’s Kitchen has always been one of my favorite summer shows, and while I still love it, I despise the contestants this year. The women on this season are incredibly annoying, and I believe that Robyn might indeed be insane. That girl has a huge chip on her shoulder and a temper that adds fuel to the fire—not to mention her sneaky, backstabbing ways. *sigh* I told you I despise these contestants. Robyn and Kimmie were at each other’s throats all service, and basically, it all came down to a showdown with Robyn being nominated.

She was all up in everyone’s faces and telling Ramsay what a good chef she is. Chef Ramsay has more patience than I have because he allowed Robyn to stay but put her on the blue team. I predict she is going to make that team fall apart, too. The drama is by far the best part right now—there’s nothing like someone else’s drama to make you feel better about your own. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “10 Chefs Compete,” the Red and Blue Teams compete against each other in a challenge that forces them to think on their feet; three special guests attend the dinner service.

To see the Crazy Witches of Hell’s Kitchen, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hell’s Kitchen @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef, The Bachelorette, Bunheads, and Teen Wolf.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/2/12

I can’t stop talking about the heat, but oh man… I hope you guys are managing to stay cool! Our AC has been running constantly, and with that and two fans, I tend to stay cool most of the day and night. Blech. lol On a different note, there’s some fantastic TV on tonight to take my mind off the temperature outside, so check out what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice

Last week’s episode of Eureka was crazy! Jack planned what he felt like was a romantic honeymoon for himself and Allison at a fixer-upper cabin in the woods. Unfortunately, it was a mess, and it only got messier the longer they stayed. In the end, Allison told Jack she’d stay and help him if he promised to take her to Fiji on their next trip. On the Holly front, she is now in a body! After going a little crazy, thinking they were still in the “Matrix,” and holding Jack at gunpoint, they rebooted her and everything seemed to be fine.

And finally…one of the things Jack & Allison found at the cabin was a file from GD. It was thought that the previous sheriff had been investigating a spy within GD from the Consortium. After the others back in Eureka go through the disc that was included in the file, Grace was caught trying to steal the disc and was arrested because they believed her to be the spy. She admitted to Henry that it isn’t HER on the disc…it was HIM. She said that he was the one that taught her everything she knows. Poor Henry is so confused… Remember, he came back from 1940 to this strange reality in which he was married to a woman he’d never met before. So was the alternate Henry a bad guy? Eek!

There are only 3 episodes left, including this week’s, so there’s not a lot of time left to clear everything up. Poor Henry. I just want him to be happy! I hope they put that to rest quickly. 🙁

On tonight’s episode, “Mirror, Mirror,” a malfunctioning experiment cuts Eureka off from the world and threatens to destroy all human life in town unless Carter can figure out who sabotaged the experiment and stop them before it’s too late.

Don’t miss it tonight on Syfy at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Eureka @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing The Bachelorette, Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, America’s Got Talent, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Four Houses, & Pawn Star$.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/25/12

Tonight, my niece graduates from elementary school, in preparation for high school next year. It’s so bittersweet. I am so proud of the young woman she is becoming, but I still miss that little baby who used to fall asleep in my arms. *sigh* To distract me from my moment of nostalgia, let’s take a look at what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

Hell’s Kitchen is really starting to make me angry this season. The women are complete and utter failures when it comes to dinner service and working as a team. Kimmie is a whiny baby, while Robyn and Tiffany are really acting like small-minded witches. I don’t have have a single member of the Red Team that I am rooting for. The men aren’t much better, but I will say that since Roshni has joined the Blue Team, she’s being doing much better. Perhaps all she needed was to get away from the drama. During last week’s episode, the teams had to prepare for a fashion show that’s going to take place in Hell’s Kitchen, and we’ll have to see how they manage with timing. We were left with a “to be continued.”

On tonight’s episode, “13 Chefs Part 2,” the teams must put on a dinner service timed in sync with three runway shoes going on in the dining room.

To see if the chefs will succeed or be crushed by fashion, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hell’s Kitchen @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef, The Bachelorette, Bunheads, and Teen Wolf.
