If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/14/14

I’m sorry about being MIA yesterday, but I was celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving with my family and friends. Needless to say, I may still be suffering from a turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie overdose, but it was totally worth it! Now we get back to our normal week and the delicious offerings on TV tonight, so let’s take a look at what we’re recommending.

Megan’s Choice

agentsofshield1014smallMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had a great start to the season, and I’m very excited by the quality they’ve been putting out. The one thing I’m not happy about is Simmons being a double agent! What happens if Simmons drinks that crazy Hydra Kool-Aid and ends up officially brainwashed? A genius like Simmons in the wrong hands is terrifying and very sad because I want Simmons back with Fitz. Speaking of Fitz… How great was it to watch him go all badass on Ward to show him what it was like to be deprived of oxygen? I enjoyed that thoroughly! Skye is definitely getting some serious shooting skills. Kudos to her for hitting and stopping Donnie Gill while still missing Simmons. I suspect Gill will come back as the villain Blizzard in later episodes, but that’s just my conspiracy side talking, I’m sure. 🙂 Overall, last week was a stellar episode, and I’m very excited about this season as a whole.

On tonight’s episode, “Face My Enemy,” while on a mission to learn more about the secrets of the mysterious writing, Coulson finds himself attacked by the only person he can trust: Agent Melinda May. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is trapped in an explosive situation, and it’s up to Fitz to save them…but is he up to it?

To see what is going on with this team and why May is off her rocker, tune in to ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching NCIS, NCIS: NOLA, The Voice, Selfie, The Flash, Manhattan Love Story, Marry Me, New Girl, The Mindy Project, About a Boy, Chicago Fire, Forever, Person of Interest, and Chopped.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/22/14

It’s the week of new television, and honestly it is super exciting every night for me. Tonight has shows returning and a few new shows, so let’s stop the chit chat and see what we’re recommending!

Megan’s Choice #1

gotham922smallGotham premieres tonight, and I am ecstatic for many reasons — and not just because Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) is incredibly adorable, but because there’s a comic book lover in all of us. When I first heard the idea to do a story about how Gotham got to where it is today, how Commissioner Gordon got where he is, and how all the now famous criminals became as evil as they are, I was a little hesitant. Now I am not. Jada Pinkett Smith is fabulous as Fish Mooney, a gang boss, and the depictions of the younger versions of Catwoman, the Penguin, and the Riddler are fantastic. It’s refreshing to see how Bruce Wayne and the Commissioner became friends before they both became the heroes they are today. If you were going to write this show off right away because you don’t like comics…please don’t. It’s worth tuning in for at least one episode to see if it can catch your love like it has mine.

On tonight’s series premiere, “Pilot,” a rookie police officer working the streets of Gotham, a city on the verge of chaos, investigates the double murder of a couple and ends up befriending their son, only to end up witnessing the rise of one of the most iconic super heroes of all times.

To see where our beloved Batman started, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.
