If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/20/14

Here’s hoping my Wednesday will be better than my Tuesday was. My kiddo went to bed Monday night feeling a little sucky but not too bad…but woke up Tuesday morning feeling major sucky—sore throat, horrible hacking cough… Needless to say, he stayed home from school and slept all morning. Poor thing. 🙁 That did mean we got to catch up on some TV in the afternoon before he did some homework, though, so that’s not a bad thing. 🙂 Let’s see what Megan, Kyle, & I are recommending tonight so you have an idea of what to watch.

Jenny’s Choice

motive2014asmallMy pick tonight is the new episode of Motive. Last week was kind of heartbreaking. A skeezy (REALLY skeezy) real-estate developer was found dead. He was shot three times—twice with blanks, once with a live round. The killer(s) turned out to be three brothers who’d made a deal with the guy, who’d then backed out and kicked them out of their house and garage anyway—even after their little sister had…given herself to him to make a deal. Murder’s wrong, but damn, the guy was a creep. I felt really bad for the family. 🙁 Then at the end of the episode, Angie got notice that the defense was calling her to testify against Mark Cross. My question is…can she change her mind and testify for the prosecution, even though she’s already said no? It would mean lying, but…either way, she’ll have to lie, and she’s kind of screwed. Tonight’s the next to last episode of the season. I’m curious as to how it’s going to play out!

On tonight’s episode, “Kiss of Death,” after a best-selling murder mystery author is poisoned with a rare toxin, Detectives Flynn and Vega must determine fan from foe. Meanwhile, Detective Lucas’ personal life takes a hit, while Angie receives a pleasant surprise, courtesy of Vega. Enuka Okuma (Traci on Rookie Blue) guest stars!

See what surprise Vega gives Angie tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Penn & Teller: Fool Us, So You Think You Can Dance, Young & Hungry, Mystery Girls, America’s Got Talent, Property Brothers, Restaurant Stakeout, Rowhouse Showdown, Legends, Hot in Cleveland, Tiny House Nation, Taxi Brooklyn, Mystery Diners, Top Chef Duels, & Wahlburgers.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/14/13

It’s mid-week, and I’m so happy because we’re one day closer to my anniversary and one day from payday. *laugh* But I’m also happy because there’s lots of good stuff on tonight. I’m still wallowing about how old my kiddo’s gotten (He started tenth grade yesterday. TENTH GRADE! It’s impossible!!), so the new TV is perfect to help keep me distracted. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

topshotsmallI recommended this a couple of times early this season, but I have to say once again that this is, by far, the best season of Top Shot. It isn’t just the All-Stars, although I do love seeing some of my favorites back (boo that Kelly’s gone! lol). But the way they’ve changed the show up this season has made ALL the difference. It no longer is a popularity contest, where people are voted into the elimination challenge because they aren’t a marine or they’re too young or just not as social. Now, it’s all about how well they shoot. I was okay that Kelly went home when he did because, instead of being out because he’d been sent to the elimination challenge yet again by the others, he went because he just simply didn’t shoot as well as the others. It’s been a really great season, and tonight’s episode will be one of the best of the season. There are some really fun challenges tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “Zip or Ship,” in the most daunting challenge to date, marksmen are strapped to a mechanical arm and sent soaring with the SP89. While rotating in a large circle they must shoot out a series of targets or face elimination. Two competitors zoom down a zip line course, putting their recoil management and rapid transitioning skills to the test.

Find out who goes home tonight on History Channel at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, America’s Got Talent, MasterChef, Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, Broadchurch, Hot in Cleveland, The Exes, Top Chef Masters, & The Soul Man.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/3/13

Yikes, I can’t believe two weeks from now, I’ll be in San Diego for Comic-Con—I’ve got so much planning to get done before then! Tomorrow is the 4th of July, and most Americans have the day off (sorry, Canada…you had your turn on Monday). Tonight and tomorrow night are extremely light nights for new TV, but we’ve still got a couple suggestions on what you can check out tonight to kick off tomorrow’s break from work.

Kyle’s Choice

franklinandbash73smallLast week on Franklin & Bash, the guys had to defend Peter’s mother, who had been arrested under charges of prostitution. In a very awkward interplay for Peter, the guys discovered that she had been working as a sex surrogate. Meanwhile, Jarrod was sleeping with Ellen, the DA prosecuting the case—and he was taking advantage of the situation to learn about the opposition’s case.

I have been really enjoying this new season of Franklin & Bash. I was a little worried when I heard that Heather Locklear was joining the cast, but the show is just as wacky and fun as ever. I like how the series takes a lighter approach to the the cases and subject matter, but doesn’t feel like a watered-down legal drama or an over-the-top sitcom—it’s just a smart, fun show.

On tonight’s episode, “Captain Johnny,” the guys defend a fisherman, and Rachel takes on a wrongful-termination case that involves a psychic. Elsewhere, Peter and Jared acquire a curbside sofa.

Find out in the sofa has any unwanted critters tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, The American Baking Competition, Family Tools, and Futurama.

Interview with Mark-Paul Gosselaar & Brecking Meyer from Franklin & Bash

Recently, Mark-Paul Gosselaar & Breckin Meyer, the stars of Franklin & Bash, spoke to the press about the new season, what the changes to the firm mean for their characters’ partnership & “process”—not to mention their love lives. Check out what they had to say.

On how Stanton’s changes & the addition of Rachel to the firm will affect them

fandbcall619asmallBreckin Meyer: I think with the addition of Rachel it is basically, you know, Stanton always had this kind of blind threat to us, which was about the New York office, and I think by bringing Rachel in he really has – I mean he’s gotten a little close to us and he – it doesn’t hurt to have somebody behind him, or next to him, who really doesn’t like us.

And I truthfully think Rachel genuinely – she knows we’re good at our jobs, but I don’t think she likes us very much, as opposed to Malcolm who really does. And Stanton really does enjoy Jared and Peter. It reminds him of himself.

And Rachel is much more of a corporate shill where she does not like them, doesn’t like the way they do business, and they if they can bring in good clients she’ll tolerate them. But I think it actually helps Malcolm’s character keep a tighter leash on us by having Rachel around and by having Rachel in his hip pocket, so to speak.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/24/12

July is flying by, and it’s been filled with lots of exciting events and shows—soon, the Olympics are going to be taking over our televisions, but until then, we still have some great TV to watch. Let’s see what we consider your must-watch shows for tonight.

Megan’s Choice

A friend of mine said he saw a theme with my reality choices this week, so here comes another one—tonight is the season finale of Love in the Wild. It’s true that lately, I’ve had a soft spot for reality dating shows, but I have an extra soft spot for this one because I love the challenges. I have to admit I originally disliked Michelle because I wanted Ben with Jenny, but after seeing this couple and how well they know each other, I am hoping they can pull it off. When Ken and Yanina picked Ben & Michelle to be their competitors for the final adventure, I was super happy—the couples who were the most in love got to stay. Yay love.

On tonight’s finale, the winners are named after the two remaining couples go on an overnight quest involving rice fields and rough waters. The winning pair receive a trip around the world.

To see who is the final couple left standing in the wild, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Love in the Wild @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, and NY Med.
