If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/9/12

Tuesday already? Last time I looked, it was the weekend! I’m not sure if it’s the shorter days or the excellent television, but this week is already flying by. Tonight’s no exception for amazing new episodes of our favorite shows, so let’s see what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

Go On is by far my favorite comedy of the new season, and I’m as surprised as most of you. Matthew Perry is tremendous in this role, and his timing is impeccable. At first, I was hesitant because the premise behind the comedy about a guy healing from the death of his wife seemed completely loco, but it works so incredibly well, I don’t know why I was ever worried. Last week, we watched the group band around Lauren to help her pass her real estate license test, while Ryan struggled with letting go of Janie while he kept seeing her ghost everywhere.

On tonight’s episode, “Big League Chew,” grieving causes Ryan to become a compulsive eater, triggering an intervention from the group. Meanwhile, Ryan offers romantic advice to Lauren, and Ryan tries to pull Danny out of his sweeping fantasy world.

To see how offside we go this week, tune in to NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Go On @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, NCIS: LA, New Girl, The Voice, The New Normal, The Mindy Project, Ben and Kate, Hart of Dixie, and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/25/12

Wow, what a night last night! There was some amazing TV on. And that trend continues tonight. There are a lot of premieres tonight and just some fantastic new episodes, so read on to find out what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice #1

I have to go with CBS tonight. I’ve been looking forward to the season premiere of NCIS since the moment the finale ended last season. The latest addition to the wall of the “Most Wanted” blew up the NCIS building! Ducky had a heart attack when he was—seemingly—alone on the beach! Eek. Will everyone make it out of the explosion alive? Will someone find Ducky before the ocean swallows him up? I know the answer to both of those questions because I’ve seen the premiere, and it is really great. It’s actually kind of shocking at one point… Something happens that I wasn’t prepared for at all. I won’t spoil what it is, but once you watch, let me know if you can pick out that moment I’m talking about. 😉

On tonight’s premiere, “Extreme Prejudice,” Harper Dearing’s latest act of terrorism ripped through NCIS headquarters in last season’s cliffhanger finale, sparking a cross-agency manhunt for the criminal mastermind.

Don’t miss it tonight on CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/18/12

Today is an exciting day in my house—for my kid, at least. Today is their first “uniform” day for NJROTC, which means he got to wear his new shirt, pants, shoes, belt (with the shiny brass buckle!), and hat to school. LOL As for me, I’m excited because it’s another great night of TV. You know we all have an opinion on what we think is worth watching, (mine’s best. 😉 just sayin’… *grin*), so check it out now!

Last week’s premiere of The New Normal stole my heart from the very first second. How heartwarming and adorable was Bryan as he recorded the video message to their baby? Seriously, the way his eyes reddened and teared up made me want to cry with him. I watched that part like three times. I loved the introduction we got to all the characters. Then in the second episode, the show kept me hooked. I laughed, wanted to cry, and just thoroughly loved every minute of it. It was so much…more than I’d anticipated. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but I did. Even more than that, I loved it. I have a feeling that if it sticks around, it’ll be one of my favorite new comedies in a long time.

On tonight’s episode, “Do You Have That in Size Newborn?” Bryan ignores David’s advice and goes overboard buying baby clothes. When they try to return them, they are met with a challenge. Elsewhere, Shania wears one of the baby outfits to school and makes a new friend, which lands Goldie in an awkward parent-teacher moment.

Please don’t miss the chance to fall in love with this show like I did. Watch it tonight on NBC at 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The New Normal @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, 19 Kids & Counting, Counting Cars, Sons of Anarchy, Abby & Brittany, & Covert Affairs.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/8/12

Less than a week ’til my kid starts high school. It doesn’t seem possible, I swear. What also doesn’t seem possible is that fall TV is right around the corner, but it is. I’m glad because, even though my DVR is full of stuff I need to watch, I’ve been missing some of the regular season shows something fierce! As for tonight, there’s plenty on to choose from, so to narrow it down, we’re going to give you our recommendations on what you should be watching. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

There are lots of comedies on Wednesday nights this summer that make me laugh. One of them is TV Land’s The Exes. I really enjoy everything about it. One of my favorite episodes to date, though, had to be last week, when Holly realized after spending so much time with her pregnant assistant (who is so tiny, she looks like she swallowed a beach ball. lol) that she was ready to be a mother before it was too late. At first, the guys tried to find a donor for her, but when none of them worked out the way the guys had hoped, they each secretly (from each other…) volunteered their services. Of course, Holly realized in the end that she wasn’t ready to give up on love, so she froze some eggs, just in case, but watching the guys try to win her “uterus” was hysterical.

On tonight’s episode, “Lovers and Strangers,” Holly’s office crush, Paul, returns after recovering from a heart attack. Meanwhile, Stuart hires a cleaning lady to keep the apartment together, but she quickly turns Haskell’s life upside down. Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show) & Paula Jai Parker (Let’s Stay Together) guest star.

Laugh along with the funny tonight on TV Land at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Exes @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, The Soul Man, Top Chef Masters, Retired at 35, Go On, Restaurant Impossible, and the 2012 Olympics.

Trailers for New Fall Shows on NBC & Our Thoughts

You saw all the trailers and our thoughts on the new shows for ABC. Now check out the same for the new NBC shows!

Link to Revolution on NBC.com.

Jenny’s Thoughts: I love the premise of this (like one of my other favorite shows ever, Jericho), and the cast is fantastic. Plus, it’s from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, so it’s got a brilliant backbone to it. Here’s hoping it’s a hit! – Excited
Megan’s Thoughts: I am getting a little sick of the “end of the world”-type shows that pull me in and then disappoint. However, it is from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke – and I admit that I was drawn in by the fight scenes, so I’m intrigued, for sure. – Curious
Kyle’s Thoughts: This looks awesome – action, adventure, mystery! It’s like Jericho meets The Event meets Terra Nova and a lot of other epic series. I just hope it doesn’t go the route of those other shows. But I hope J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke have another big hit on their hands! – Excited
