If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/11/14

It’s been a couple of days filled with sickness in my house, but I’m hoping it’s over now. One thing is for sure: I’m going to spend tonight on my couch with a blanket watching some good TV. Let’s see what we’re recommending to keep us all happy.

Megan’s Choice

sytycd2014smallWe’re a couple of weeks into this season of So You Think You Can Dance, and what a season it’s been so far. I loved having a dancer with the caliber of Fabrice Calmels on as a judge, because he brought a level of ballet expertise to the panel. However, as usual, Christina Applegate’s guest judge appearance was fabulous. She just lights up the screen, and the way she is moved by the dancers is phenomenal. Last week’s episode had me in tears again, so if that’s how this season continues to go, Kleenex is going to have a lot of sales world-wide.

On tonight’s episode, “Auditions #3,” the search for “America’s Favorite Dancer” heads to Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

To see how the dancers move us tonight, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The 100, Growing Up Fisher, Restaurant: Impossible, Graceland, Suits, and American Pickers.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/23/14

Welcome to Sunday… Tonight is a relatively slow night as we gear back up to the first BUSY week in several weeks. Tonight is the closing ceremony for the Olympics, which means TV is back with a vengeance tonight. So check out our recommendations for what you should be watching tonight in preparation for the rest of the week! 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

growingupfisher223smallLike last night’s About a Boy, NBC is choosing to air the series premiere of Growing Up Fisher late after the Olympics. J.K. Simmons (The Closer, Law & Order, Men at Work) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg, 1600 Penn) star in this comedy about a couple who is brought closer together after their divorce. Mel (Simmons) is a busy man—chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive, and playing football with his son—but the catch is, Mel is blind. Joyce (Elfman) is the typical teenager—but the catch is, she’s the mom, and that makes it difficult for their real teenage daughter. The last member of the family is Henry, Mel and Joyce’s 11-year-old son. He’s been his father’s eyes and wingman, so he’s less than thrilled when Mel gets a new guide dog, Elvis. Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) does the voiceover as adult Henry, who realizes upon reflection that his parents’ split finally allowed the Fishers to become one happy (divorced) family.

This looks like an adorably sweet, funny comedy, and I love the casting of J.K. Simmons and Jenna Elfman. I’ve got high hopes for this one.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” an 11-year-old boy who’s been his blind father’s eyes and wingman for as long as he can remember has his world turned upside down when his parents decide to separate, which starts the family down a path of changes from their usual roles.

Find out if this one catches your interest tonight on NBC at 10:36/9:36c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Buy This Restaurant, Food Court Wars, Chopped, & Cutthroat Kitchen.
