If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/27/13

Well, we got ANOTHER foot of snow on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Crazy! So my kiddo had Tuesday off school and is off again today. And then my husband tweaked his back as he was shoveling the sidewalk. Poor thing. So he’s going to curl up with me on the couch tonight after he spends all day at work and watch all the great TV on tonight. So can you, especially if you check out our recommendations. 😉

Jenny’s Choice #1

criminalmindssmallCriminal Minds has been through a lot, the last of which was the murder of Reid’s girlfriend right in front of him. Last week’s episode was another rough one, with the camp that was all about taking gay teenage boys and “fixing them” (ie: making them straight). It was really awful what they were doing to those young boys—all the drugs, the shock therapy…not to mention hiring a prositute to show the boy how to have sex with a woman and how pleasurable it can be, and then to have the parent in there with him? Really one of the most sickening things I’ve ever seen on TV.

The bigger arc this season, of course, is the copycat who has been stalking our team. And this week, we get closer. Will they catch him? It seems a bit too early in the game for that, but who knows…

On tonight’s episode, “Carbon Copy,” when victims are found in Philadelphia in a similar style to victims of The Replicator, the stalker who has been tracking the BAU’s every move, the team thinks this could be the break they need to try and apprehend him. Scott Grimes (ER) guest stars.

To see if the team can catch their man, tune in to CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Criminal Minds @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/3/12

Wednesday already! This week is flying by, and I for one cannot believe that it’s already October—before we know it ,we’re going to be decorating for Christmas! Egads! Now, before we all start having a holiday panic, let’s see what’s on television tonight to keep us relaxed on this fabulous fall day. (Side note: TV is a little slow tonight because of the Presidential Debate, so it may be more relaxing than you want.)

Supernatural returns tonight, and I am very excited—after all, what is a week without a visit with the sexy Winchester brothers? This show has been bordering on cancelations for so many seasons, but the faithful fans have kept it afloat, and now we are being paid with delicious dramatic episodes that make us cry, laugh, and gasp all at once. The relationship between Sam and Dean is always full of surprises, but at the heart of it, we are treated to an amazing display of brotherly love.

When we left our demon-hunting heroes, they had battled Dick, had struggles with Castiel, and teamed up with a prophet named Kevin—and we ended with Dean headed to Purgatory. What a tangled web, and I wonder what’s going to become of the boys.

On tonight’s premiere, “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” Sam and Dean are reunited after a year apart. Dean re-emerges from Purgatory, but he isn’t alone. He heads straight for Sam, but the reunion isn’t exactly what he thought it would be. Sam drops everything to join his brother, but leaving the life he had grown to enjoy turns out to be harder than he imagined. Dean and Sam look for Kevin (Osric Chau) who has managed to escape Crowley’s grasp, but things come to a head quickly when Kevin tells them what it is that Crowley wants.

To see how the reunion between the boys goes, tune in to The CW at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Supernatural @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Animal Practice, Guys with Kids, Survivor, and The X Factor.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/12/12

I love my non-job of running this site for many reasons. But being able to chat with the celebs & TV showrunners, being able to catch show premieres early (this week, it was NCIS, Hawaii Five-0, & the series premiere of Vegas on CBS—and all were great. I loved the new show a lot more than I’d anticipated. The cast is phenomenal!), and last but not least, bringing you the schedules each week & daily plus what we think you guys should be watching each day is my favorite reason. Now that I’ve said all that, go on… See what we think you should be watching tonight. 😉

I’m so excited about tonight’s premiere of the new series Guys with Kids. I always love shows like this, and it’s brought to us by Jimmy Fallon, so it’s worth giving a chance (or two) to before judging it. Here’s the premise: The show is about three 30-something dads who try to hold on to their youth as they face the responsibilities of having kids. Thankfully, Gary (Anthony Anderson, Law & Order), Chris (Jesse Bradford, The West Wing) and Nick (Zach Cregger, Friends with Benefits) have each other to help navigate the highs and lows of fatherhood—while still trying desperately to remain dudes. Balancing work or staying at home, happily married or happily divorced, taking care of the “littles” while maintaining a social life is a daily challenge. Whether it’s hosing down their babies in the kitchen sink or hitting the bar strapped with “babybjorns,” these guys are taking on fatherhood in ways no one has ever seen before. Nick’s and Gary’s wives—Emily (Jamie-Lynn Sigler, The Sopranos) and Marny (Tempestt Bledsoe, The Cosby Show) also offer their own parenting advice. Dads today are more involved in their kids’ lives than ever, and these guys are no exception. No tantrum is too loud, no diaper is too dirty—Nick, Chris, and Gary are up to the challenge.

Besides Jimmy Fallon, Charlie Grandy (from NBC’s The Office) is also an exec producer/creator, & Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz (from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place & American Dad) are executive producers. And finally, Emmy-nominated director Scott Ellis (Modern Family & 30 Rock) is the director. Those are some big name comedy backgrounds, so I’m hoping that translates into something great. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” when Chris is asked out to a Knicks game, he must find a babysitter without his ex-wife Shelia (Erinn Hayes) finding out. Elsewhere, Gary and Marny find an unusual spot for some alone time. Meanwhile, Nick is in the dog house when he forgets about an important event with his wife, Emily.

Don’t miss it tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Guys with Kids @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Oh Sit!, The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, Top Chef Masters, Restaurant: Impossible, Restaurant Stakeout, & Cajun Pawn Stars.

Trailers for New Fall Shows on NBC & Our Thoughts

You saw all the trailers and our thoughts on the new shows for ABC. Now check out the same for the new NBC shows!

Link to Revolution on NBC.com.

Jenny’s Thoughts: I love the premise of this (like one of my other favorite shows ever, Jericho), and the cast is fantastic. Plus, it’s from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, so it’s got a brilliant backbone to it. Here’s hoping it’s a hit! – Excited
Megan’s Thoughts: I am getting a little sick of the “end of the world”-type shows that pull me in and then disappoint. However, it is from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke – and I admit that I was drawn in by the fight scenes, so I’m intrigued, for sure. – Curious
Kyle’s Thoughts: This looks awesome – action, adventure, mystery! It’s like Jericho meets The Event meets Terra Nova and a lot of other epic series. I just hope it doesn’t go the route of those other shows. But I hope J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke have another big hit on their hands! – Excited
