If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/28/14

I know we’ve discussed the crazy winter weather a lot this year, but honestly, what is with us getting ANOTHER cold front? Yes, I’m aware that I live in Canada, but I am so done with winter that I’m wondering if I start wearing my shorts and T-shirts, will Mother Nature get the hint?! While I continue to plan my petition for spring, let’s see what’s on TV tonight that we’re recommending.

Megan’s Choice

hawaiifiveo228smallHawaii Five-0 is still a must-see for me, and not just because of Alex O’Loughlin, but because of the way the writers are able to keep it fresh after a few seasons. I have loved watching Kono and Adam go through their journey, but I’m so happy they are back with the crew. When we left our favorite island crime fighters, Steve and Danny had spent some time kidnapped by an escaped convict who wanted their help to prove he was innocent. In the end, Parrish got to prove to his daughter that he was, in fact, innocent, but unfortunately, he died before he could enjoy his freedom. We also saw Grace get suspended for hitting someone, but she was defending someone else, so Danny was able to look past it and accept the reason behind the actions.

On tonight’s episode, “Pale ‘la (Buried Secrets),” the team investigates the murder of a real-estate agent; Danny’s mother (Melanie Griffith) shares shocking news.

To see what Danny’s mom is like and what news she has for him, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Grimm, Enlisted, and Blue Bloods.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/4/13

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! I’m really enjoying the lighter TV schedule we’ve been having lately—it has given me a chance to actually catch up on most of my shows! But even with there being a lot of reruns, I haven’t found primetime lacking in viewing options. Tonight, there’s lots of great stuff on, and we’ve got some suggestions on what you should watch.

Kyle’s Choice

hannibalasmallTonight, everyone’s favorite cannibalistic psychopath makes his way to the small screen in the new NBC series Hannibal. The show follows Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), a criminal profiler working for the FBI, whose remarkable emphatic skills allow him to get into the mind of the killers he pursues. Assisting him is the brilliant Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen)—but Graham doesn’t know about Lecter’s dark side.

Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite films, and I also really enjoyed the Hannibal Lecter origins film, Hannibal Rising. So I’m really looking forward to seeing this latest take on the earlier years of this ultimate serial killer. Add to that the fact that the series is executive produced by Bryan Fuller—who always adds a unique, beautiful look to all of his projects—and I can’t wait to see tonight’s premiere!

On tonight’s episode, “Apéritif,” a gifted criminal profiler teams with a cunning psychiatrist to solve a string of brutal murders. Based on the characters from Thomas Harris’s novels. Laurence Fishburne also stars.

See how it all starts tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hannibal @ TV.com.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Grey’s Anatomy, Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, Go On, New Girl, The Mindy Project, Archer, Legit, Men at Work and Nathan for You.

Trailers for New Fall Shows on NBC & Our Thoughts

You saw all the trailers and our thoughts on the new shows for ABC. Now check out the same for the new NBC shows!

Jenny’s Thoughts: I love the premise of this (like one of my other favorite shows ever, Jericho), and the cast is fantastic. Plus, it’s from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, so it’s got a brilliant backbone to it. Here’s hoping it’s a hit! – Excited
Megan’s Thoughts: I am getting a little sick of the “end of the world”-type shows that pull me in and then disappoint. However, it is from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke – and I admit that I was drawn in by the fight scenes, so I’m intrigued, for sure. – Curious
Kyle’s Thoughts: This looks awesome – action, adventure, mystery! It’s like Jericho meets The Event meets Terra Nova and a lot of other epic series. I just hope it doesn’t go the route of those other shows. But I hope J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke have another big hit on their hands! – Excited
