If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/27/12

It’s the start of a new week, but for a lot of people, it’s a long weekend because of Memorial Day tomorrow. So that means for those lucky people, it’s still the middle of the weekend, which means we get to relax tonight and enjoy the great new TV without having to worry about getting up early and going to work. Yay! To see what we think you should be watching tonight, read on.

I’m still really digging the new way they are doing this season of Food Network Star. It always looks like the “mentors” are having a good time, too. And so far (knock on wood), I’ve been happy with the eliminations. Last week, Kara went home, and while I didn’t hate her, she just never came across as comfortable to me. The bus tour was fun, although how Giada got Little Italy baffles me. I’m sure it was luck…but man, what luck it was. haha

On tonight’s episode, “Dessert Chopping Block,” it’s a dessert challenge with a basket of ingredients – and the contestants face Chopped judges as they play the Food Network Star version of the show.

Don’t miss the 90-minute new episode tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Food Network Star @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing Cupcake Wars & Iron Chef America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/16/11

For a sweeps month, we’ve had an unusually light lineup of new episodes the past few days. Tonight, while still unseasonably light, brings the return of my favorite ABC comedies! So enjoy a great night of new TV on this hump day, and remember that one week from now, we get a nice long weekend of Turkey Day and Black Friday insanity!

I really missed not having the ABC Wednesday comedies last week, as The Middle is probably my favorite comedy currently on TV. While the whole Heck family makes me laugh every week, Sue and Axl really make the show for me. In the last episode, hilarity ensued when Sue and Brick stole their aunt’s cell phone, and things quickly got out of hand as they discovered the joys of texting. Meanwhile, Axl disappointed his parents with his uncharacteristic model son behavior for a college football scout. I can’t wait to see what the Heck kids get up to this week….(whispers) week!

In tonight’s episode, “The Play,” Frankie and Sue are cast in a community-theater production of “The Wizard of Oz,” but things get awkward when Sue’s role is in jeopardy. Elsewhere, Brick invites Uncle Rusty (Norm Macdonald) to participate in Special Friends Day at school. Chris Kattan also guest stars.

See the new episode tonight on ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Middle @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/19/11

We’re halfway through the week. That means our DVRs are already getting backed up, and we’ve got another great night of TV to look forward to. Wednesday is probably my favorite (or at the very least, funnest) night of TV, thanks to ABC and USA!

Psych is back, and it’s great to see that it hasn’t lost any of its magic (head)! Last week’s premiere gave us more of the Shawn and Gus banter we love, and Shawn and Juliette’s romance finally came out into the open. I really enjoyed the hilarious Psych-Out with Malcolm McDowell and James Roday doing some really bad accents, as well as the Dexter-y ending with Henry teaching Shawn how to beat a lie detector. I am so happy to have this show back on my TV, and it’s a great, fun way to cap off the night!

In tonight’s The Hangover-like episode, “Late Night Gus,” with no memory of the previous night, Gus, Shawn, and Woody (played by Kurt Fuller) are suspects in a murder.

Tune in tonight on USA Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Psych @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/28/11

We are just barely into the new Fall season, and my schedule is already overwhelming. I have started to make the tough cuts and have already deleted a few season passes. However, one thing I won’t cut out is ABC’s hilarious 2-hour Wednesday comedy block! I am ready for some laughs tonight! Read on to find out what we all think you should watch.

Happy Endings returns for its second season tonight, and I’m happy to say it’s just as funny as always! In addition, the show seems to be opening up its world a bit this season, adding some new sets. Happy Endings is a modern-day Friends. I love all of these characters, and they make me laugh out loud every week. The pre-credits sequence that opens up tonight’s episode really lets new viewers know what they are in for—a crazy, madcap romp.

In tonight’s episode, “Blax, Snake, Home,” we start one year after the events of the series premiere. Penny buys a condo and vows to turn her life around, and Jane talks Dave and Alex into finally being honest with each other.

Tune in to ABC at 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Happy Endings @ Clicker.

Interview with Kathy Bates from Harry’s Law

Kathy Bates, star of NBC’s Harry’s Law, recently spoke to press about the show and the upcoming season.

From NBC: “In Season 2, Harry is back with an attitude as she hones her courtroom arguments and winning style. On the heels of Harry’s rising reputation, Harry’s Law and Fine Shoes starts landing larger cases, and alongside her newfound success, Harry is looking to bring in some new hotshot attorneys to help out the team.

Rising star Adam Branch (Nate Corddry, The United States of Tara, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) introduces Cassie Reynolds (Karen Olivo, Law & Order, The Good Wife, Criminal Minds), a young and smart attorney, who has the gumption to stand up to Harry. Confident attorney Oliver Richard (Mark Valley, Human Target, Boston Legal, Keen Eddie) joins the firm as well, and also back for Season 2 is the cocky Tommy Jefferson (Christopher McDonald).

Expect higher stakes cases, new energy and more drama as the curmudgeonly Ms. Korn continues to lay down the law. Don’t worry though… she’s on your side!
