Welcome to a new week for TV. Kyle’s at Comic-Con, and Megan’s away for a birthday celebration with her man, so it’s just JJ & me tonight. And that’s okay, ’cause we’ve got some good recommendations. 😉 Keep reading to find out out what!

Jenny’s Choice #1

hgtvstarsmallI’ve been a fan of HGTV Star since the beginning. Then season’s been pretty good, too. I was upset that Anne went home last week. I’m not a fan of Brooks at all. I think he’s weird—which isn’t always a bad thing, but in this case…—and too awkward on camera. Anne was always enjoyable on camera, and yes, her designs were always “pretty,” but that didn’t necessitate sending her home, in my opinion. Out of the two designers left besides Brooks, I have to throw my vote to Tiffany. Jeribai is okay, but as a TV viewer, I’d prefer watching Tiffany.

On tonight’s episode, “Palm Springs Finale,” the three finalists must make over a suite in a Palm Springs resort hotel.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/9/13

I’m so glad it’s Sunday, because that means a new week of great TV (with even more premieres this week!). Then again, being Sunday means it’s also halfway through the weekend… It’s quite the dichotomy! I both love it and hate it. As for TV, there’s some fun stuff on tonight, so to see what we’re recommending tonight, keep reading. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

hgtvstarsmallTonight is the season premiere of HGTV Star (fka HGTV Design Star). I love this show because I’m a big fan of design shows and the challenges they put the contestants through can be almost brutal. I love David Bromstad, who was the Season 1 winner, as the host. He knows what the contestants are going through, and he’s just a nice, fun guy. Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder are great as judges, and this season, Sabrina Soto joins them on the judging panel. I really enjoy her as well, so I’m looking forward to the new season.

On tonight’s episode, “A Brand New Season,” ten gifted contenders will compete for their own show on HGTV. Host and mentor David Bromstad gives the designers their first challenge: to create a vignette, or section of a room, that represents their personal style or brand. To make their space really distinctive, each designer will have the opportunity to create their own original fabric and wallpaper. The challenge winner will have an item from his or her space adapted for sale on the popular website One King’s Lane. Stress levels are high as the designers race against time to showcase their POVs and prove that they deserve to be the next HGTV Star.
