If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/23/14

We’re getting so close to Thanksgiving now. I’m so excited. My dad is coming up to Kansas from Oklahoma to celebrate with us, and we’re cooking everything (turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn casserole, stuffing—okay, we’re taking a shortcut and doing Stove Top. LOL—salad, and rolls), and it’s just gonna be a fun week. But we have a few days before that happens, so check out our recommendations for what to watch tonight on TV.

csi1123smallLast week’s CSI was all about the Gig Harbor Killer. Detective Shaw’s partner escaped and was recovering in the hospital. I knew immediately when she and Det. Shaw saw one another that there was something off…and it was confirmed when he met with Paul. He’s clearly working with the twins, but why? Is he really a bad guy? Or is Paul holding something over him? Whatever the case…it was creepy and not surprising!

I’m really excited for tonight’s episode specifically because of the guest stars. It’s an Alias reunion, with Greg Grunberg & Merrin Dungey both appearing. Love Greg. It’s been too long since I’ve had him on my TV regularly!

On tonight’s episode, “Road To Recovery,” the CSI team investigates the death of a woman full of alcohol and drugs in a pool at a rehab facility. Greg Grunberg, Merrin Dungey, Marc Blucas, Larry Sullivan, Marielle Jaffe, Chris Browning, Lea Moreno, & Brandon Quinn guest star.

To see why a drug and alcohol-related death at a rehab facility is suspicious, tune in to CBS at 10:30/9:30c. (But who knows, at this point… It could start earlier, could run way over. I always record the show before and record it an hour over, just to be safe. *rolls eyes*)

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Holiday Baking Championship, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/5/14

Just a moment to grinch… On Friday night, I went to watch Hawaii Five-0 and realized that, while it showed it recorded, it wouldn’t play. I started checking all the other recordings, and everything from Thursday morning on is the same. I’d been catching up on shows from earlier in the week and hadn’t tried anything from Thursday or Friday until then, so I didn’t know. Argh! This same exact thing happened a month ago, and AT&T came out, tested all the lines, found nothing wrong, and replaced the DVR, which meant I lost everything on there. Thankfully it wasn’t too bad. But now the season’s started and I have a bunch of shows on there. Someone is coming out this afternoon (I was surprised but pleased they’d be working on a Sunday…) to look into it, but it’s going to turn out the same way. This was a NEW BOX. What caused it this time? *sigh* So yeah, I’m not a happy camper. On a good note, it’s the start of a new week, which means great new episodes. To help you narrow down what you should be watching, check out our recommendations.

halloweenwars2012smallI’m happy because Halloween Wars returns for a new season tonight. I’ve seen some great cake decorators and sugar artists on shows like Next Great Baker, but the talent on Halloween Wars absolutely blows me away. A cake decorator, sugar artist, and pumpkin carver all team up, and five teams compete to win $50,000, with one team going home each week. The Halloween-themed displays range from humorous to gory to creepy…but all are amazing. The show’s a lot of fun and well worth the watch.

On tonight’s episode, “The Haunted Farm,” five teams go to battle to create mind-blowing Halloween-themed displays that capture a terrifying Haunted Farm. At the end of the battle, one team will be eliminated. Naomi Grossman, who appeared in American Horror Story: Asylum is the guest judge.

See the fun and terrifying displays tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Catch a Contractor, Madam Secretary, CSI, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/21/12

It’s the start of another great week in television, and while I’m pumped for all the new episodes of our favorites, I’m getting a little sick of the presidential debates interfering with the schedule. Yes, I do realize how self-centred that sounds, but honestly, it’s getting a little old—is it time to vote yet? (Note—I won’t be voting, as I’m Canadian; however, you should!) Enough chit-chat. Let’s get to us bossing you around as to what you should be watching.

The must-see show for ABC this fall has to be 666 Park Avenue, which never fails to cause the hair on my neck to rise from the creepy factor. I’m loving the fact that this season is sprinkled with tons of new twists on dramas, because let’s be honest, there are only so many different takes on crime solving or medical dramas. Last week’s episode had me actually wanting to watch with the lights on. Seriously, how creepy was that whole thing with the little girl? Brrr… Spine chills all over again.

On tonight’s episode, “Hero Complex,” Henry learns that Gavin is under investigation for questionable real-estate transactions and must choose between loyalty to his boss or his friendship with Gavin. Meanwhile, Jane discovers the identity of the thief at the Drake.

To have your weekly fix of terror, tune in to ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of 666 Park Avenue @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, The Amazing Race, Outback Hunters, and Cupcake Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/18/11

Wow, there are so many season finales on tonight that it’s going to be tough to avoid spoilers! So either I’m going to have to stay up all night, or disconnect my internet until I’m caught up! 🙂 In other news, we are one week away from Christmas, so I hope everyone is close to finishing their shopping. I did the last of mine yesterday, since we are doing Christmas early—both of my brothers are going to be away on the 25th, so we have our first of three partial-family celebrations tonight. Then I rush home and get to work on these finales! 🙂

Dexter finishes out its sixth season tonight. Last week, Quinn arrived just in time to prevent Travis from killing Batista, but Travis still managed to escape. Back at Miami PD, Dexter’s quick thinking prevented a lethal gas outbreak, but not without Dexter being exposed. Meanwhile, as if Deb wasn’t messed up already, her therapist put the idea that she is attracted to Dexter into her head, which starts to consume her thoughts and dreams. And when Dexter tried to set a trap to catch Travis, his earlier exposure to the gas caused him to pass out, allowing Travis to turn the tables. At the end of the episode, we saw Louis mailing a package to Dexter. What’s in the box? Does he know Dexter’s secrets? If so, what are his plans? Will Dexter or the Miami PD be able to catch Travis? Will Deb share and explore her romantic feelings for her adopted brother? It should be a great finale, and hopefully set up some interesting things for the final two seasons.

In tonight’s episode, “This Is the Way the World Ends,” Dexter and Homicide try to stop the Doomsday Killers from committing one final murder, while Debra deals with a new emotional situation.

Tune in to the season finale tonight on Showtime at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Dexter @ Clicker.
