If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/9/14

This dang summer cold sucks. I’m still coughing, although not nearly as much or as often, but in the process, I’ve bruised my ribs or pulled my muscles around my chest and back. Something. It’s incredibly painful. *sigh* I’ll still be curled up tonight, wishing I felt better, so check out what I’ll be watching, as well as what Megan & Kyle are recommending.

sullivan&son99smallTonight is the season finale of Sullivan & Son on TBS. Last week was kinda huge… Steve met the perfect woman—a lawyer, likes basketball, likes one of his favorite old sandwich joints. He kept going to Melanie for help and insider info on picking up women, and it worked. But right at the end, he was getting ready to leave to meet her and was talking to Mel, telling her everything that was perfect about the woman, and she said something about the perfect woman being right under your nose sometimes. He froze and turned back to her, then rushed back to her and kissed her, realizing she was right… The perfect woman WAS right under his nose! I’m a big fan of the show and I’ve been a Steve/Melanie shipper since the beginning, so I’m hoping this isn’t something they’re going to just throw away by making them realize it was a mistake or Melanie dreamed it or something. We’ll see, I guess!

On tonight’s episode, “You, Me, and Gary,” after the kiss, Melanie and Steve want to keep their new thing quiet, but Melanie’s nosy neighbor Gary isn’t one to keep secrets. John Michael Higgins (Happily Divorced) guest stars.

See how the season ends tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Fighters, MasterChef Canada, 19 Kids & Counting, America’s Got Talent, Hotel Hell, Married at First Sight, Chopped, Little People Big World, & Wizard Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/25/14

While most of you have kids back in school already, here in Canada, our kids don’t go back until next week. This is the last week of summer and also one of the busiest times as we get everything ready for school. To keep my mind off the insanity, let’s see what we’re recommending you watch on TV tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

masterchef2014smallThis season of MasterChef has been incredibly unpredictable as far as who goes home and who manages to hang on by the skin of their teeth. Last week was a perfect example of this when Daniel, Jaimee, Cutter, and Willie ended up in the pressure test. That was a pressure test from hell—first poach an egg, then egg yolk ravioli, and finally a cheese souffle. All three of those take talent, and it was a blood bath. Willie managed to sing his way to a perfect poached egg in the first round. In the second round, a surprise was Cutter making a perfect egg yolk ravioli. Finally, we had Jaimee and Daniel go head to head on a souffle, with Jaimee just slightly nudging Daniel out. I was floored! Honestly, I believed that Cutter should have gone home out of all of them, but that man seems to have horseshoes up his butt lately. In the beginning, I really liked him, but my problem with him became his attitude and his inconsistency. For the ones who are left now, I am hoping that Jaimee or Willie win it all, but I think in the end, it’s going to be Elizabeth and Courtney fighting for the title.

On tonight’s episode, “Top 7 Compete,” before the next mystery box challenge, the remaining home cooks will receive a little hometown encouragement, as they head into a savory apple dish challenge. The home cook who creates the best dish will not only be safe from elimination but will also play a key role in the next challenge. Then, the remaining home cooks will be split into pairs as they prepare a variety of pot stickers.

To watch these talented home cooks battle it out again, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/21/14

I had a really wonderful birthday weekend that included a barbeque with some of my friends and family. There was great food, drinks, laughs and even more exciting…fireworks! Now that my celebration is over, let’s see what’s we’re recommending tonight to keep the party going.

amninjasmallThis season of American Ninja Warrior has been very exciting so far, and I have been enjoying it a lot. One of my favorite moments was watching Kacy Catanzaro finish the qualifying course in Dallas, making her the first woman to ever finish this course. She was so fierce and strong, giving little girls (and adults too) a role model to look up to. The courses are intense and the athletes even more so. Love it! If you haven’t been watching, you definitely should.

On tonight’s episode, “St. Louis Finals,” the top 30 competitors travel to St. Louis, where they take on the St. Louis Finals course.

To see these athletes demonstrate their amazing abilities, tune in to NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Hotel Hell, MasterChef, Teen Wolf, and Mistresses.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/3/12

It’s the start of a fabulous week because tomorrow, my daughter goes back to school! Don’t get me wrong, I love my daughter, but I am more than ready for her to go back to school and stop terrorizing my son. *happy dance* As well as my happy land moment, where she’s at school (don’t judge me…I’m excited!), there’s also a lot of new television to keep us busy at night, so take a look at what we think you should be watching. [Note from Jenny: Happy Labor Day to my fellow Americans. Enjoy the day off if you have it, and if not…I’m sorry. 😉 ]

Hotel Hell has been a great addition to my summer TV viewing schedule for so many reasons. I have loved having yet another dose of the fabulous Chef Ramsay and the way he takes no flack from any of these hotel owners. He has been whipping them into shape coast to coast. I’ve seen one part of tonight’s two-part finale, and it’s a really good one—this hotel owner is as cheap as they come. Don’t miss the black-light displays—it’s an educational experience…

On tonight’s two-hour finale, “River Rock Inn/Roosevelt Hotel,” Gordon has two hotels to rescue, including an inn with a hot-headed owner who could become a serious threat.

To see if Ramsay can help these two hotels turn things around, tune in to FOX starting at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hotel Hell @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Grimm and Major Crimes.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/27/12

I swear, I have no idea where the weekend went! It honestly feels like it was only 24 hours long. That kind of sucks when Monday rolls around. Luckily, there’s some great TV on tonight to look forward to, so check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

I was totally skeptical about this season of Warehouse 13 because of how last season ended. Then when I spoke to star Eddie McClintock right before the season started, he soothed some of my fears, saying that yes, there would be fall-out, but it was still going to be the show we all know and love. I’m so glad that he was right. We still get the stuff regarding Steve, Claudia, Artie’s use of the astrolabe, etc. But even with that, the Warehouse gang is still solving cases and being outrageously funny. While I loved all the Pete comedy last week, I also loved that Artie now knows about the connection between Steve & Claudia, and he gave Steve some encouraging words about separating him from the metronome. I’m very hopeful about that, because I adore Steve. My other favorite part was Mrs. Frederic and Claudia spending time together, watching an artifact being born while learning more about Mrs. Frederic and what Claudia’s future could hold as the Warehouse caretaker. It was a great episode, and I’m excited to see this week’s.

On tonight’s episode, “Fractures,” Lindsey Wagner guest stars as the theft of Lewis Carroll’s mirror interferes with Artie’s plans for a date.

Check it out tonight on Syfy at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Warehouse 13 @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hotel Hell, Hell’s Kitchen, Major Crimes, United Bates of America, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Grimm, Pawn Star$, & Perception.
