If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/6/12

Tonight is exciting for fans of FOX Tuesday comedies, because there are some great episodes, including a season premiere & a spring premiere, but there’s also some great dramas on, so check out our picks for what you should be watching!

How much do I love that Jimmy & Sabrina are now a couple on Raising Hope? I am still a little worried that it will screw up the dynamics of the show, but I have to trust Greg Garcia & the writers to do right by the viewers. Last week was fun, what with the two of them trying to figure out whether to truly be themselves or to hide the quirks and flaws…and farts. *laugh* It’s something almost every new couple has to deal with. Seeing Sabrina’s quirk about sleeping with pantyhose on her head because she was afraid of spiders crawling into her head when she slept was great. And then that fear landed Jimmy in the hospital? Fantastic. I can’t wait to see where they take this.

On tonight’s episode, “Single White Female Role Model,” Sabrina is arrested after participating in an Occupy Natesville protest and is sentenced to two weeks in prison. One of the prison attendant’s (special guest star Katy Perry!) claims to be a friend from her past and will stop at nothing to make Sabrina’s stay in the slammer as dreadful as possible until she remembers their childhood friendship. Meanwhile, the mayor of Natesville grants Virginia three wishes after she helps her avoid a public scandal, but when Jimmy turns down the mayor’s advances, Sabrina’s chances of being exonerated are put at risk.

Laugh along with the crazy tonight on FOX in its new time slot at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Raising Hope @ Clicker.

Interview with Jaime Pressly & Katie Finneran from I Hate My Teenage Daughter

I Hate My Teenage Daughter returns tonight on FOX to finish out its season. Series leads, Jaime Pressly & Katie Finneran, recently spoke to the press about their roles on the show, the spring premiere, and more, so check out their answers to the questions below, including the first one… Someone asked if they spoke Spanish before this episode or not.

Jaime Pressly: Katie was incredible at speaking Spanish. It was like it just rolled off her tongue. My son is half Cuban and so I have been around a lot of Spanish, in general, and I understand a lot of it, but I don’t speak it as much. I do the accent very well, but I didn’t have to do it in the show as much. I can’t speak. I can’t even … Spanish.

Katie Finneran: I grew up in Chicago and then Miami so most of my friends were from Cuba. I speak pretty well. I speak probably at the level of a second grader, but I would say that my accent, I was always doing Tony Montana. When I was a ten-year-old girl, I was doing Scarface. My accent is deceiving because my accent is pretty good, but I don’t speak that well but I try. I fake it when I have to.

Jaime: She’s a damn good actress, but she sounded like she knew exactly what she was saying.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/21/11

It’s another light night for new TV episodes. However, despite that, there are still a whole bunch of finales tonight: the season-enders of American Horror Story and Work of Art, the first half of The X Factor season finale, plus the mid-season finale (after only 4 episodes!) of I Hate My Teenage Daughter. If nothing else, there’s always reruns of the Wednesday ABC comedies! 🙂

I am really looking forward to tonight’s season finale of American Horror Story. Last week, Violet told her father that she was dead and told Tate to take a hike. Meanwhile, Vivien went into labor and was rushed into the house, where in a very psychedelic and manic scene, the doctor and nurse ghosts helped to deliver the babies. The first (presumably Ben’s) was stillborn, while the other was quickly whisked away by Constance. Vivien died shortly after giving birth and joined her daughter.

So where do we go from here? During the birthing scene, we saw lots of quick flashes of Ben sitting in the corner, going crazy. Was all of this in his mind? Has he been crazy this whole time and none of this actually happened? Or maybe that was a sign of things to come. What is going to happen to this child, and is it the Antichrist? Constance and every ghost in the house seems to have his or her sights set on this child. It doesn’t seem like Ben is in any state to handle a child, so perhaps Vivien will try to raise the child as a ghost mom. I really have no idea what to expect in the finale, or what the plan is for next season (i.e. will we follow an entirely new family’s fate in the Murder House?). Hopefully, we’ll get some idea of the direction of the show tonight.

In tonight’s episode, “Afterbirth,” Constance schemes to raise Tate’s baby as her own.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/7/11

I’m excited for tonight’s television, because there are tons of great shows on. A lot of them are back now after a short break for Thanksgiving, and this is also the last week we’ll see a lot of them until after Christmas and New Years, so take advantage and watch them while you can!

Jenny’s Choice #1

Even though it’s only been a couple of weeks since the last new episode of Criminal Minds, I’ve missed it. I feel like this season is getting back to what it was toward the beginning of the show—before the whole Reaper and Prentiss storylines and everything that happened because of them, and back to our team as it should be, with a few additions, like Garcia getting more into the cases, JJ working as a profiler and not just a media liason. We’re also getting small glimpses into the private lives of the team—like JJ’s son, Henry, being sick, etc. Give me the cases of the week, rather than the huge, heartwrenching arcs and I’m a happy camper!

On tonight’s episode, “Self-Fulfilling Prophecy,” the BAU team looks into the real reasons behind an apparent mass suicide of a small group of youths at a military academy. Also, Hotch and Morgan butt heads when a team member could be in jeopardy. Rene Auberjonois (Boston Legal, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) guest stars as Ron Massey, headmaster of the military academy, and Jayne Atkinson is back as FBI Section Chief Director Erin Strauss.

Check it out tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Criminal Minds @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/30/11

Wow, November sweeps has certainly come to an end. It’s a really light night for new TV shows—there’s plenty of reality shows on tonight, but hardly any scripted fare. So catch up on your DVR backlog and read on to find out which of tonight’s new shows we recommend.

Kyle’s Choice

I honestly can’t explain why I continue to watch American Horror Story each week. Each week, it horrifies and shocks me (but not in the scary sense). It just sucks me in, and I can’t stop watching! Sometimes gory, and almost always violent and disturbing, each week, we get a glimpse of the death of another Murder House resident. We also get clues as to how all of these characters are intertwined, and which are not actually alive. Last week, we finally learned the identity of the person in the black rubber gimp suit—young, dead, Tate. Does this mean that Tate is somehow the father of Vivien’s baby? Is that even possible, with him being dead and all? Now that Vivien knows the house is haunted by former residents, will she finally take Violet and leave? Why is Constance so obsessed with keeping the house intact? Is it just that she doesn’t want to lose the spirits of her family, or maybe she is actually dead and tied to the property as well?

In this week’s episode, “Spooky Little Girl,” The Black Dahlia (Mena Suvari), a famous Hollywood murder victim from the 1940s, visits the house. Meanwhile, Constance discovers more of Tate’s bad behavior.
