Ramblings of a Shipper’s Heart: The Woe of Woo

The other day, I was looking at shows that are building up on my DVR, and Scott, my husband, just shook his head and sighed. I have six episodes of Burn Notice (which includes last season’s finale) and five episodes of Royal Pains on there. That’s every episode of the first and all but the first two episodes of the second so far this season. I can’t bring myself to watch them (although I have hopes about that changing soon with Burn Notice…). Why? Because I hate a story line so much on both shows that I can’t enjoy the shows themselves. And yes, the title of this post is about a Shipper (which, if you don’t know, means someone who roots for a certain relationship (ergo, “shipper”) from a TV show, movie, book, whatever. Not all of this rant is about relationship woes on TV, but I suppose there is an underlying theme for most of them. 😉

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/4/12

Friday is that day of the week that we all look forward to because it’s the start of the weekend – and what a weekend it’s going to be. I’m going to be designated driver on Saturday for a Stag and Doe party; I will be going armed with garbage bags, water, and gravol, just in case. (Eww… I hate drunk people.) Anyway, tonight, I will be kicking back and relaxing, watching some excellent television. Let’s see what we think you should be watching.

Grimm is one of those shows that makes my world a better place. I love getting lost in the plots, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than the mythology of the creatures. The writing is entertaining with just enough humour to balance out the drama and violence. If you haven’t given this supernatural show a chance, you have been missing out on so much. The twisted plots, a sexy cast, and just a general good time; your Friday nights won’t seem as “grim” if you tune in to watch.

On tonight’s episode, “Happily Ever Aftermath,” this classic Cinderella tale takes a very dark turn; Nick and Hank are called to investigate the mysterious death of a wealthy matriarch after her stepdaughter loses everything in a Ponzi scheme. Meanwhile, Juliette does some digging into the mysterious death of Nick’s parents in an effort to help him find closure.

To see what happens after the happily ever after, tune in to NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grimm @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching and recording Supernatural, CSI: NY, Blue Bloods, The Finder, and Fairly Legal.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/27/12

Ugh, another week of being sick. So not fun. But it’s been another great week of new TV (albeit a little slow) and tonight is no exception. There’s some great stuff on, so let’s get to it!

Jenny’s Choice

Last week’s Nikita was fantastic. Nikita herself went up against an old foe, and for a bit, it looked like he was going to get the best of her. Then Michael gave himself up to save her, and just when the two of them were fighting him for their lives, Sean and Alex rushed in. Sean got the ultimate revenge for his mother’s death by shooting him dead. The guy was scary because he had zero adgenda except for revenge…to make Nikita hurt as much as she’d made him hurt. All of it served to make Nikita think that she was too dark and too much like Percy – enjoying the pain and suffering she inflicts upon others – to be a good person. The scene at the end with Michael and Nikita was fantastic for Mikita shippers. And once again, Nikita laid down the law with Percy, telling him she was coming for him.

On tonight’s episode, “Shadow Walker,” Nikita convinces a reluctant Birkhoff to use 20 million dollars of his own money in a plan to bankrupt Percy and Division, but when Percy ends up stealing Birkhoff’s entire life savings, Birkhoff and Nikita clash. Team Nikita has one last chance to hit Percy again, but Birkhoff is arrested trying to regain his millions and Nikita realizes she must break him out of jail before Division gets to him. Michael and Alex go after Birkhoff’s stolen money while Nikita goes to save Birkhoff.

Don’t miss it tonight on The CW at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Nikita @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing The Finder, CSI: NY, Fairly Legal, Grimm, Melissa & Tye, & Blue Bloods.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/20/12

Thank God it’s Friday (& 4/20 at that. 😉 )… That’s all I have to say. We’re gearing up for the end of this season. You can tell because a lot of shows are taking a week or two off before May sweeps and the last run of new episodes for the 2011-2012 season. I’m going to be looking into switching cable companies (we’ve been with AT&T U-Verse for years now, but we’re getting tired of how much we’re paying, and my husband hasn’t been happy with the speed of the internet for a while…), but I have to figure out the best time to do it. The break between end of this season & start of most of the summer shows is perfect. Anyway, on to what we think you should be watching tonight, regardless of who your TV & internet comes from! 😉

The last new episode of Nikita was 3 weeks ago, and it was a whopper. Through a crazy, awesome plan involving Nikita, Michael, Birkoff, Alex took control of her father’s company, later passing control to one of the men she trusted. That meant Ari (and subsequently, Amanda) was out on his ass, and now he & Amanda (who, by the way, had a couple of f***-awesome scenes with Nikita, where they each could have killed the other but didn’t…) are on the run with a black box. With Amanda ousted from Division, Percy is back in charge there. It’s a crazy time, man. Crazy. This week promises to be even crazier, judging by the episode description & preview!

On tonight’s episode, “Wrath,” when Nikita worked for Division, she targeted a man named Nicholas Brandt (guest star Rick Ravanello) and infiltrated his inner circle. She captured him, and he’s been behind bars ever since. However, Percy springs Brant, and his first mission is to capture Nikita for payback. After he has her in his clutches, he tortures her, forcing Nikita to face a side of herself she thought she had long buried. Meanwhile, Percy continues to play mind games with Michael, Alex, and Sean, pushing one of them to the brink of death.

Do not miss it tonight on The CW at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Nikita @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/13/12

Another week has passed us by, and what a week it’s been! Easter, school, parental visits – life is hectic sometimes. Thank goodness it’s Friday, and I’m even more thankful that there are some new episodes of my favorite shows to help me kick my weekend off right. Let’s see what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

Grimm is one of those shows that I love weekly and can’t wait to see. Last week, Juliette turned down Nick when he proposed because she felt like he was still hiding things – good deduction, girl. Nick is devastated, but she sticks to her guns. The case of the week was a little disturbing with the eating through the tube… Gross. Overall, Grimm is one of those shows that you have to watch regardless.

On tonight’s episode, “Love Sick,” Nick and Juliette join Hank for dinner, where Nick discovers Hank’s mystery date is none other than Adalind, the same Hexenbiest who tried to kill Aunt Marie. Meanwhile, Captain Renard takes matters into his own hands when a visit from foreign representatives of his royal bloodline threatens his position. Elsewhere, Monroe and Rosalee are called into action when the lives of Hank and Sgt. Wu hang in the balance.

To see how Nick balances out his personal feelings and work, tune in to NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grimm @ Clicker.
