If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/15/13

Can you feel it? That tingle of excitment… That’s right! It’s the first week of new fall shows!!! *happy dance* Tonight kicks off the new week, but tomorrow night really nails it home, so let’s see what’s on tonight so we can get to this fall buffet of TV.

Megan’s Choice

rvgkidssmallRachael Ray and Guy Fieri are so fantastic on their own shows, but put them together on the same cooking show and add kids that can cook—I’m sold! Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off premiered last week, and it was such a fun episode. Those kids are all very talented, but also freaking adorable. My favorite so far is Hunter, because he is just so adorable, and I love that he could rock cooking the venison. I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode and seeing how much better they get in the kitchen.

On tonight’s episode, “Brunch Time,” the chefs embark on a battle of the brunches; special guest Marion Ross (Happy Days) judges the Cook-Off.

To see how the kids do with brunch foods, tune in to Food Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Great Food Truck Race, Cutthroat Kitchen, Iron Chef America, and Ray Donovan.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/2/13

Welcome to a new week…and what a week it’s gonna be! The summer season is officially starting, apparently, because there are a ton of premieres this week! Tonight, though, is a little slow, so only Kyle & I have stuff to recommend…and we’re both recommending something on Food Network. *laugh*

ironchefamericasmallI’m excited because tonight’s the big finale of the Iron Chef America Tournament of Champions battle. I was wrong when I predicted Iron Chef Morimoto would come out the winner last week—in reality, Iron Chef Garces kind of smoked him… It was impressive. Then again, the secret ingredient was liver…and how often do you think Morimoto works with liver? *laugh* I was rooting for Morimoto, simply because I thought a battle between him & Michael Symon would be great—but Symon vs. Garces should be good, too. Garces has been surprising me during this Tournament of Champions…so it’ll be interesting to see who wins tonight! I really think Michael Symon will come out on top, but… Who knows, at this point! LOL

On tonight’s episode, “Tournament of Champions Finale,” the top two finalists, Michael Symon & Jose Garces, battle it out in Kitchen Stadium; the judges are Donatella Arpaia, Bobby Flay, and Karine Bakhoum.

See who goes home the winner and who just goes home tonight on Food Network at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped & Food Network Star.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/19/13

It’s a slow night in television land, but there’s still a few things to keep your night interesting. Let’s see what we think you should be watching.

billboardmusicsmallSeeing as there isn’t a whole lot on tonight that I watch usually, I’ll be watching The 2013 Billboard Music Awards. Tracy Morgan is hosting, and I usually find him quite amusing, but I’m also excited to see Prince receive the Billboard Icon Award. I enjoy watching a few good musical performances, and I’m hoping to see some of my favorites win.

On tonight’s presentation, the festivities take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and the artists are recognized for the fan support they’ve garnered.

To see if your favorite artist wins tonight, tune in to ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Iron Chef America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/2/12

Welcome to the Sunday edition of If We Controlled Your Remote… Didja miss us over the weekend? Pfft! Of course you did. 😉 Poor JJ is still sick, so for tonight, it’s just the three of us. But don’t let that throw you. You know we’re all excellent judges of what you should be watching. *grin*

Tonight is a special holiday episode of Iron Chef America. I love this show, especially when Michael Symon is part of the battle. I geek out over him all the time. *laugh* This battle is going to be fun because they are pitting three Food Network chefs against three chefs that have shows on the Cooking Channel. Yay!

On tonight’s episode, “Holiday Battle,” three chefs representing Food Network—Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Robert Irvine, and Ted Allen—go head-to-head against three chefs representing Cooking Channel—Iron Chef Michael Symon, Nadia G., and Ben Sargent. The judges for this Food Network vs. Cooking Channel battle are Anthony Anderson, Aaron Sanchez, and Bobby Flay.

See who wins tonight on Food Network 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Iron Chef America @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Video, Sugar Dome, & The Next Iron Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/12/12

Saturday—night, especially—had to have been one of the worst days/nights I’ve had in a long time, so I’m incredibly glad today is a new day. It’s the start of a week packed full of new television, including some big episodes, like the series finale of The Closer. So as always, we’re here to tell you what we think you should be watching. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

One of my favorite new shows of the summer has been A&E’s Longmire. If you’re a fan of Justified, you might very well enjoy this show, too. The lead character, Walt Longmire, isn’t as quick to draw his gun as Raylan Givens, but the shows kind of remind me a lot of each other in some respects. Maybe it’s just because the leads wear cowboy hats, but I think a lot of it is that Walt & Raylan both tend to like to work alone as much as they can and don’t necessarily like to play strictly by the rules. All season, we’ve gotten glimpses of how Walt’s past. We know his wife has been dead a year, and we know she had cancer…but from what Scott & I have been able to piece together, something else happened that killed her. What, we don’t know, but we should find out more tonight. Last week, Walt finally confronted both his daughter and his deputy—and opponent for sheriff!—about sleeping together. It was really intense…but this week, it looks like Walt and Branch will come to blows over it all. Exciting stuff! I’m so happy this show has been renewed already. It really is a great addition to the summer schedule.

On tonight’s episode, “Unfinished Business,” Walt investigates the murder of a teenager who was one of four boys acquitted of raping a developmentally disabled Cheyenne girl. When another boy is killed, all signs point to the crime being an act of revenge by the girl’s brother. But Walt is not convinced by the circumstantial evidence and must find the real killer before someone else ends up dead. And the arrival of a detective from Denver forces Walt to finally confront the reality of his wife’s death. Michael McGrady (Southland) guest stars.

Don’t miss it tonight on A&E at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Longmire @ Clicker.
