Interview with James Roday & Dule Hill from Psych

Last week, I had a great time participating in a Q&A session with the stars of Psych, James Roday and Dule Hill. Psych returns tonight for the final 7 episodes of the sixth season, starting with the extended-length mid-season premiere tonight!

I was the first person to get to ask a question, and the moderator announced my name and said that I was calling for “TV Is My Pacifier.” So after my question was answered, they moved on to the next person, but the following transpired:

James Roday: …By the way, we should have told Kyle to suck it when we were done with his question, because his TV is his pacifier.

Dule Hill: Pacifier, you know what I’m saying? Should have said suck it. You suck it.

And when I got through the queue again to ask the final question of the session, I was greeted with James and Dule singing “Suck it, Kyle. Suck it.”

The call was a lot of fun! Jump with me for some of the highlights. Continue reading

Interview with James Roday & Dule Hill from Psych

Recently, James Roday (Shawn Spencer) and Dule Hill (Burton “Gus” Guster) spoke to the press about the upcoming season of Psych. They talked upcoming guest stars, episode descriptions, pineapples, Psych-Outs, & more, so check it out below!

On the different theme/inspired episodes this season

James Roday: Those are in the can. Those are fully produced and being mixed.

Dule Hill: We also have a Shining episode this year too.

James: Shining is what you get in place of Clue. So we still felt like we should swing big.

[Note from Jenny: There was a Clue episode planned, but it didn’t work out for this season. It’s still being planned for a future episode, though.]

James: Halloween is the vampire episode. And I think it’s airing the week of Halloween. [Guest starring in that one are] Kristy Swanson, the original Buffy, and Corey Feldman, one of the Frog Brothers from The Lost Boys, and Tom Lenk, a regular on Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV Series. We went Double Buffy.

Dule: And Blacula makes a guest appearance also.

James: Yes. Guest appearances, Blacula and the Vampire Lestat.

Interview with James Roday & Dule Hill from Psych

I got the chance the other day to speak to James Roday & Dule Hill, stars of USA’s hit show, Psych. The show returns for the 2nd half of it’s fifth season tonight on USA at 10/9c. The guys are great to talk to, and they always seem to have a lot of fun together and with the press. Honestly, they couldn’t be nicer to talk to and to listen to, and I enjoy it every time. If you haven’t been watching Psych, you are truly missing out!

There are slight spoilers during the interview, so be aware!

When asked what it was like to film in Vancouver AS Vancouver: (They normally film it in Vancouver as Santa Barbara.)

James Roday: Well it’s easier.

Dule Hill: Yes.

James: That’s for sure. We spend a lot of time running around and covering up signs and replacing license plates and moving fake palm trees. And…

Dule: And flags, taking down flags.

James: …when we shot for actual Vancouver we didn’t have to worry about any of that stuff which means we could allow our minds and the minds of some of our crew members to drift in a good way.

Dule: About Maple syrup.

James: That’s right.

Dule: And you also don’t have to frame out the ice capped mountains either. You can use that.

James: Oh, that’s true. Good point, Dule.

Dule: See what I’m saying?

James: That’s sharp thinking for this early in the morning. I’m very impressed.

Dule: That’s how I do it in the morning, you know what I mean?

James: Yes, man. Like a farmer except you’re not.
