If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/2/13

It’s a rather slow week for new TV, which is a good and bad thing for me. I have 37% free space on my DVR…but I’m watching as much as I can. Several of those things are entire seasons (Continuum, Justified, The Americans, The Bible, & Vikings) not to mention a handful of episodes of a few shows, as well… Still, there’s a few good shows on tonight, so we’re here to give you our top picks for the night. 😀

Jenny’s Choice #1

thenewnormal42asmallI have really enjoyed The New Normal since it premiered in September. I absolutely love the relationship between David & Bryan and Goldie & Shania. David & Bryan genuinely care about Goldie & Shania, even apart from the fact that she is carrying their son. I hated Clay at the beginning, but now…I guess I can’t help but like him. He really seems to be changing for the better and really trying for Shania especially. I hated that he came on and stayed, but now, I don’t think it is such a bad thing that he’s there. Tonight is two new episodes, which includes the season finale. Things don’t look great for renewal, but surprises have happened, so I’m not counting it out before we hear for certain. All season has been leading to Bryan & David’s wedding and the arrival of their baby. Will we get both tonight?

thenewnormal42bsmallOn tonight’s first episode, “Finding Name-O,” Bryan & David are facing the hardest decision of their relationship, what to name their baby. The conflict prompts Goldie to reveal the origin of Shania’s name leading to brief identity crises for both of them. Later, while breezing through their wedding planning, David suggests that Bryan invite his mother Colleen (guest star Mary Kay Place), but her added opinion leads to more conflict and an unusual resolution. Meanwhile, Clay decides it’s time to let Goldie know how he feels, after receiving some unsolicited advice from Brice (guest star John Stamos).

Then on the second episode, “The Big Day,” the wedding is finally here, and despite all of the challenges that pop up throughout the day, Bryan and David are dead set on getting married before the arrival of their baby, but their son has other plans.

Don’t miss the last two episodes of the season tonight on NBC at 9:01/8:01c & 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of The New Normal @ TV.com.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/8/13

It’s been a really great holiday vacation, filled with lots of family fun, but I’m very happy that life is back to the usual routine—especially my television schedule. Tonight, I’m going to kick back and watch some awesome new television, and you should, too. Here’s what you should be tuning in on your screens.

Megan’s Choice

ncisla18smallNCIS: LA has been having a strong season so far, and I loved the Christmas episode for so many reasons—especially Nell and Eric kissing under the mistletoe. That was some definite geek heat. This show manages to keep the viewers intrigued with the case of the week, but still keeps us up-to-date on our beloved character’s lives. It’s the perfect balance. I can’t wait for tonight’s new episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Drive,” one of Deeks’s former defendants is targeted for uncovering information that could dismantle a car shipping operation with ties to global terrorist ring.

To see how the team handles the stress this week, tune into CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS: LA @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching NCIS, The Mindy Project, Emily Owens M.D., and New Girl.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/10/12

I am still so backed up in my TV watching thanks to my busy PAX East/Easter weekend. Tonight I’m filling in at the last minute on the TV Times Three Podcast, so I will probably fall even further behind. However, Tuesdays are a relatively light night for TV for me. Though, that still doesn’t mean there’s hardly anything on! 🙂 Read on to see what we’re recommending you check out tonight.

Kyle’s Choice

Last week on Raising Hope, Jimmy discovered that Sabrina has a habit of having backups of everything – including a spare Jimmy. So each time Sabrina found a handsome new study partner, Jimmy worked on sabotaging things. Meanwhile, Burt became mesmerized by musical dancing breasts on the wall, and every guy who passed by the Chance’s front window joined in on his obsession. However, once Burt saw Hope emulating the musical dance number, he got rid of it.

I thought the discovery of Sabrina’s spare everything was so funny – like one of those horror film realizations. Also, the dancing breasts with the coconut bra and “lovely bunch of coconuts” playing was genius. If this is not already a real product, I’m sure it will be soon! This show is always hilarious, and they do a great job of blending humor, heart, and some kind of lesson-learning each week.

In tonight’s episode, “Inside Probe,” the sensational story of Hope’s mother, serial killer Lucy Carlisle, is the subject of a tabloid TV show, giving the Chances the opportunity to recall their accounts of what happened when Jimmy met the now-deceased felon.

See it tonight on FOX at 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of Raising Hope @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be recording/watching Last Man Standing, Cougar Town, Body of Proof, The Voice, Glee, New Girl, Chopped, and No Kitchen Required.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/27/12

It’s Tuesday, and I’m so excited about that because there is a ton of great TV on tonight. I hope you’re all caught up, because after tonight, your schedule and your DVR are going to be packed! To help you figure out what is a must-watch, check out our picks for tonight.

Jenny’s Choice #1

I’ve really been loving Body of Proof lately. I’ve always enjoyed it, but now that Megan has a boyfriend (played by the adorably sexy Jamie Bamber), I can’t help but love it even more. LOL And two weeks ago on the last new episode, they were finally ready to step their relationship up a little, but then Lacey, Megan’s daughter, was discovered unconscious by her grandmother (Megan’s mother, Joan) and diagnosed at the hospital as having Type 1 diabetes. Those scenes were just amazingly well done by all 3 of them, and I’m hoping that doesn’t make Megan break it off with Aidan. The case on the last episode was extremely heartwrenching. Two teenage girls, one dead, one so swollen and bruised that you couldn’t see distinguishing features, and there was a mix up…and the parents were all told the wrong girl was dead. So one set of parents had their lives blown apart and then miraculously put back together when they learned they had their daughter back, and the other had the floor disappear under their feet when the girl they thought was theirs turned out to be her friend and their daughter was actually down in the morgue. As a parent, I can’t even imagine how that must feel. This week is part one of a two-part episode, and from the previews, it looks like it’s going to be sad, scary, and incredibly exciting to watch!

On tonight’s episode, “Going Viral: Part 1,” the team is up against a city-wide outbreak of a virus after groups of people start dying from similar symptoms. No one is safe, including Megan and her team. Center for Disease Control Officer Charlie Stafford (played by the always sexy Luke Perry!) joins the case in order to figure out not only what caused the outbreak, but who. Also guest starring is Dean Norris (Breaking Bad).

Do NOT miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Body of Proof @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/20/12

Yay for finally feeling better after the mother of all colds. The whole family is healthy (*knocks on wood*), jobs are going well, and I get to meet an online friend in real life at the end of the month. All that AND there’s great new TV tonight? Fantastic! So read on to see what great stuff we think you should be watching tonight. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

There was a lot on tonight, including some great comedies, but my pick had to go to Justified. This show has been ramping up this season. Winona is pregnant and decided she couldn’t handle being with Rayland. (I’ve never liked her, but this kind of pissed me off. Whatever.) The newest big bad, Neal McDonough’s Robert Quarles, is an evil son of a bitch (although he’s much more outwardly scary, unlike Margo Martindale’s Mags Bennett last season – that woman was quiet but deadly and would scare the crap out of me if I ever met her in real life). And you just can’t help but love Boyd Crowder. He’s so not a nice guy, but you just have to feel for him…like when he was arrested for something he hadn’t done. lol And when it looked like Ava was turning over the drug-addicted hooker, I was surprised, because I thought for sure she actually had a heart underneath all the crap…and then I was proven right when she shot Delroy instead of turning Ellie May over to him. And then, of course, we dealt with Raylan being set up for Gary’s murder (it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, frankly, but whatever. LOL). So… yeah, I’ve been enjoying this show a lot this season.

On tonight’s episode, “Guy Walks Into a Bar,” Raylan struggles to keep Dickie Bennett in prison while contending with an increasingly violent and unpredictable Quarles. Boyd’s Harlan election comes to a head.

Check it out tonight on FX at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Justified @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing Last Man Standing, NCIS, NCIS: LA, Raising Hope, Cougar Town, 19 Kids & Counting, Breaking In, Chopped, Top Shot, & Unforgettable.
