Looks like there’s another deep freeze headed towards my town this week, and while I love winter, I am so over it. So while the wind and snow beat at my window, I’m going to bunker down and watch some great TV. Let’s see what we’re all recommending.
Megan’s Choice #1
I know it’s rare for me to suggest that you watch an animated show, but Rick and Morty is one that’s worth your time. It’s the combination of great characters and hilarious writing. To be honest, I’ve only seen a few episodes, and mostly thanks to my teenage son, but when I was asked to interview Justin Roiland (Co-Creator, Executive Producer, and the voice of both Rick and Morty), I got a chance to delve deeper into the show. What I found was a reason to giggle and escape reality. Every episode is its own individual story, and the series has little to no continuity, with the episodes being spins on classic movies/shows, tying back into the show’s original muse of Back to the Future and the legendary characters of Doc Brown and Marty McFly. Last week’s episode was called “M. Night Shyam-Aliens!,” and it really twisted the limits of hilarious, but dark. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be tuning in, even if you haven’t seen any episodes, because you won’t have missed a thing. I’m looking forward to some upcoming episodes based on Something Wicked This Way Comes.
On tonight’s episode, “Meseeks and Destroy,” take a trip through the most boring alternate universe these creators can imagine.
To get ready for tonight’s episode, check out my interview with the awesome Justin Roiland, and then tune in to Adult Swim (Cartoon Network) tonight at 10:30/9:30c.
