If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/23/11

It’s Thursday, which has got to be my FAVORITE day of the week this summer. As much as I love everything else airing right now, tonight includes two shows that I’ve been looking forward to for months. It’s a big day, so in addition to Lisa’s & Kyle’s single recommendations, Megan is doing two shows, and I’m doing three… Forgive me? 😉 Now, on to what our picks are!

Jenny’s Choice

I will admit that I have seen tonight’s premiere of Rookie Blue. Last summer, it became an instant hit with me, for a multitude of reasons (not the least of which was the instant chemistry between Missy Peregrym’s Andy and Ben Bass’ Sam!). The entire cast is fantastic. I’ve mentioned it before, but there are some procedurals that focus too much on the cases and give nothing to the personal relationships. There has to be a balance, and Rookie Blue is a great example of that. We see a lot of the new cops and their personal lives, but the cases are always interesting and aren’t generally overshadowed by the personal. Tonight’s premiere is a great example of that. There’s a lot of personal stuff, but the case is good, too. I have to say, though, as you can see from the photo with this part of the post, there is at least one squee-worthy moment for us Sandy fans. 😉

On tonight’s premiere, Andy’s world explodes when a fresh-faced university student is caught in the crossfire during a random concert shooting. Devastated by the seemingly senseless act of violence, she sets out to unravel the motive and track down the shooter — putting her in direct conflict with Division 15′s new detective, Jo Rosati. Meanwhile, as Rosati investigates her own angle on the concert mayhem, sparks fly between her and her former partner, Detective Luke Callaghan.

Don’t miss tonight’s season premiere on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rookie Blue @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/16/11

Happy 6th Birthday to my sweet little girl, Chloe! I can’t believe she’s 6 already. It seems like just yesterday, I brought her home. Now that I’m the mom of two children, I look forward to my time to unwind and watch some television at night. 😀 Let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

There isn’t a whole lot on tonight, but I’ll be watching the results show of So You Think You Can Dance. I may be slightly predictable, but admit it… you love me. 😉 I’m not sure if I have any strong favorites this season yet, but I do know that my favorite time is when we get down to the Top 10, because the routines get a bit longer and the dancing is top notch. Only a few more weeks to go.

Tune in to FOX at 8/7c to see how America voted. Learn where to find episodes online of So You Think You Can Dance @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/9/11

Sorry! I’m running late today, as yesterday, I was up for 24 hours. Once I fell asleep, I slept 15. LOL So… Anyway, since Megan, Lisa, and Jason are basically giving you what I might have, I’m going to skip out of telling you what I think you should watch. 😉 To see what they think, check it out below. – Jenny

Jason’s Choice

While tonight’s Community repeat, “Basic Rocket Science,” is one of my favorite episodes from this past season, my pick tonight is Love Bites. I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed last week’s premiere episode. It’s fun and light and actually makes a really good summer series. Yet, it was good enough that I was surprised that NBC never tried it out somewhere during the regular TV season. The three-vignette style makes each episode feel like a compilation of sitcom shorts, and they did a much better job of tying each of them together through the small group of main characters than anticipated. At any rate, it’s worth checking out. Besides, other than the NBA Finals game, there isn’t anything else on tonight. It’s still two weeks until we get the return of Burn Notice, followed by the excellent new series Suits on USA Network, to spruce up our Thursday nights this summer.

Tonight’s three stories include a woman scaring off a guy by baking for him, a couple that is trying to accept their son’s gay relationship, and a guy that decides to take up knitting so he can spend more time with a woman. Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) guest stars.

Love Bites plays tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Love Bites @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/2/11

Thank goodness we’re almost to the end of one of the slowest weeks for new TV in a while! My poor DVR is starving for new episodes, I swear! Last night was the great new show, Franklin and Bash, on TNT. Did you watch? Scott & I really enjoyed it, and I hope you did, too! Tonight is the start of another new show, as well as a new episode of one of Megan’s favorite competition shows, so check it out below!

Jenny’s Choice

TV fans first heard of Love Bites back in January of 2010, when NBC announced some of its early development slate for 2010-2011. From there, the show was pushed back what felt like a huge number of times, and just when we thought it was totally dead in the water, NBC announced just a few short weeks ago that the comedy would indeed premiere TONIGHT, finally! After all the hubbub, I don’t have a lot of high expectations for it, but I’m going to give it a shot regardless, because the cast is full of familiar, fun faces. The show premieres with three interwoven stories of love, sex, marriage, and dating.

Annie Matopoulos (Becki Newton, Ugly Betty) is a young, single woman who has taken on an incredible task – serving as a surrogate for her sister. Jealous of the attention that Annie receives while being pregnant, her friend Cassie (Krysten Ritter Breaking Bad) decides she must have a “story” as well, and decides to masquerade as a virgin to attract a man. Meanwhile, when Carter (Kyle Howard, My Boys) is fired from his accounting job and comes home early, he finds his fiancee Liz (Lindsay Price, Eastwick) in bed with a unique gift from her bachelorette party. Also, Judd Rouscher (Greg Grunberg, Heroes, Alias) and his friend Bowman (Craig Robinson, The Office) end up on a cross-country flight with Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer, Party of Five), who is on Judd’s “celebrity exemption list,” allowing him sleep with her without marital consequences. When Judd ends up actually sitting next to her, he must decide what to do with this opportunity.

With names like that, you can’t help but want to watch, right? Check it out tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Love Bites @ Clicker.

TV News – 7/1/10

Happy Canada Day! It’s the land that brought you Ryan Reynolds, Keanu Reeves, Hart Hanson (creator of Bones), Nathan Fillion(Castle), Joshua Jackson (Fringe), Anna Paquin(True Blood), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Gregory Smith (Rookie Blue), AJ Cook (Criminal Minds) and Cory Monteith (Glee) just to name a few. 🙂 It’s the land of Tim Hortons, and toques plus hockey is a religion here. We have contributed to TV with shows such as Degrassi and Corner Gas. We also allow everyone to film their shows/movies here and offer great tax incentives (we’re generous lol). Warehouse 13, Life Unexpected, Supernatural tape here plus so many more. If all of that goodness isn’t enough to celebrate this country that I love, then the fact that I was born here is enough to make you love it! 🙂

Okay enough patriotic ramblings, I’ll get to the news.

Blair Redford (Passions) will be joining the cast of 90210 next season in a sexy new role. He’ll be playing Oscar, who’s being described as “one part Talented Mr. Riply, one part young Johnny Depp, and all parts sexy.” I’m all for some fresh new sexy blood on the show aren’t you? The third season premieres on September 13th. Source
