If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/24/12

July is flying by, and it’s been filled with lots of exciting events and shows—soon, the Olympics are going to be taking over our televisions, but until then, we still have some great TV to watch. Let’s see what we consider your must-watch shows for tonight.

Megan’s Choice

A friend of mine said he saw a theme with my reality choices this week, so here comes another one—tonight is the season finale of Love in the Wild. It’s true that lately, I’ve had a soft spot for reality dating shows, but I have an extra soft spot for this one because I love the challenges. I have to admit I originally disliked Michelle because I wanted Ben with Jenny, but after seeing this couple and how well they know each other, I am hoping they can pull it off. When Ken and Yanina picked Ben & Michelle to be their competitors for the final adventure, I was super happy—the couples who were the most in love got to stay. Yay love.

On tonight’s finale, the winners are named after the two remaining couples go on an overnight quest involving rice fields and rough waters. The winning pair receive a trip around the world.

To see who is the final couple left standing in the wild, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Love in the Wild @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, and NY Med.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/17/12

I’ll be at the dentist when this posts. Yay me… Hopefully I don’t have to have another root canal done. Best case scenario, I have a crown put on the temporary one I got last summer (losing your job really puts a dent in things like paying $500 or whatever for a crown…). Worst case scenario, I have to redo the root canal done last summer and get another one done on a tooth on the bottom. So keep your fingers crossed. *sigh* Whatever happens, I know I’ll be ready for some great TV tonight, and there is plenty of it, so see what Megan & I think you should be watching. 🙂 (Kyle is home but trying to catch up on sleep after Comic-Con, so he should be back tomorrow. Yay! 🙂 )

Jenny’s Choice #1

Last week’s premiere of Covert Affairs was a doozy. Jai was killed in an explosion after meeting with Annie away from the eyes of the CIA. The only reason Annie wasn’t caught in it was because she forgot her umbrella (thank you, Danielle!). When Annie got back to work, things were very different than they had been the morning of the explosion. It was suddenly all business—from screensavers of fireworks and an almost cheerful air for the 4th of July to nothing but work and somberness. And then she found out she’d be transferred out of Joan’s group. She’s now working with another female CIA agent named Lena, who runs an entirely different type of ship than Joan. Joan is much more about protocol and giving Annie a hand to hold to help lead her, while Lena is basically “let’s shove Annie out into the world on her own and let her figure it out herself.” Neither is necessarily wrong, but it’ll be interesting to see how Annie fares. Last week, she ended up sleeping with her target, which I don’t think she’d have done if on assignment for Joan. Also, Auggie was transferred by Arthur basically into Jai’s old spot—and he wants Auggie to find out why Jai was killed.

So what does this mean for the relationships (professional & personal) between Annie/Auggie and Annie/Joan? I’m not sure. This week, we won’t find out, really, because I know Annie & Auggie go undercover together for a DPD op. So maybe next week? heh By the way, if you’re an Annie/Auggie shipper, don’t miss this episode. lol

On tonight’s episode, “Sound and Vision,” the DPD sends Annie and Auggie on a trip to Spain to track down and acquire a dangerous computer virus, but problems arise when the two agents learn that the virus has also caught China’s attention.

Watch it tonight on USA Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Covert Affairs @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/26/12

Comic-Con is just about two weeks away, and I’m getting really excited. However, I’m also stressing out about what I’m going to be able to see! They seem to have really spread out the TV panels this year, so it’s going to be tough to do my usual pick a room and stick with it. Speaking of lots of to see, Tuesdays are one of the more packed nights of TV this summer. Read on to find out what we recommend you check out tonight.

Kyle’s Choice

The thing I like about The Glee Project is that it gives us a glimpse into the Glee casting process—as insane as it may be. This season, the show really hasn’t changed that much—I think even the episode names are the same as last year. However, they seem to have really tried to get a real diverse group of contestants this time, including a girl in a wheelchair, a blind guy, and a transgender male. Last week, it was all about Vulnerability, and the contestants needed to show theirs while performing “Everybody Hurts.” As usual, this led to lots of tears among the contestants. It was Mario, Charlie, and Lily who had to do last chance performances, and once again, my lack of musical taste was confirmed—I thought Charlie’s rendition of “Fix You” sounded terrible (it was very different from the original), but Ryan Murphy loved it. However, in the end, no one was sent home.

In tonight’s episode, “Sexuality,” the contestants must prove their sultry worth in a lusty rendering of the songs “Moves Like Jagger” and “Milkshake.” Naya Rivera is the guest mentor.

Check it out tonight on Oxygen at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Glee Project @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, Jane by Design, Chopped, Rizzoli & Isles, Franklin & Bash, and Workaholics.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/19/12

I would like to start by saying that until recently, I have been a loyal Chevrolet lover, but my fiascos with my van lately have made me reassess this love. My Uplander seems to enjoy being broken more than it enjoys running properly – and we actually maintain our vehicle. As I type this, my van is sitting in my driveway, waiting to be towed yet again, after it decided it needs a new fuel pump and some sensor. *sigh* Perhaps it’s time for me to look at a different brand of van or SUV. Any suggestions? While you think about my vehicle situation, let’s discuss television tonight, because that’s a topic we have lots of opinions on.

Megan’s Choice

Considering my usual distaste for reality dating shows, some of you may be surprised by my choice of Love in the Wild for tomorrow. Put those judgmental thoughts away, because this show is pure entertainment. Let’s take a bunch of sexy singles, pair them up, and then send them on some wild adventures. Wait… Let’s really mess with their heads and add an extra guy to each team so that the girl has to choose between the two men. As if that isn’t enough, let’s punish them with poor living conditions if they come in anything under 4th. Whew. Crazy. Last week, I found myself really loving Ben and Jenny together. They are absolutely adorable, and they’d better stay together! Unfortunately, at the end of last episode, they brought some girls in to give the guys a chance to choose between two people (I suppose it’s fair, but far less fun! 🙂 ). Hopefully Ben is smart and stays with Jenny, because she’s the best girl on the show by far. [Note from Jenny: Of course she is! She’s got the right name for it! 😉 ]

On tonight’s episode, the new trios are forced to bond quickly as their challenge leads them into a dark abyss. They are shackled together to endure a rigorous challenge through the jungle and into a smouldering bat cave. The winning trio enjoys a romantic sailboat cruise, while the emotional Couple’s Choice Ceremony brings surprise rejections and sends six women home without finding love in the wild.

To see how your favorites make out at tonight’s ceremony, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Love in the Wild @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, Jane by Design, and The Glee Project.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/5/12

It certainly seems like summer has arrived… The temperatures are climbing, great summer TV has begun, and my kid is home (or at least…in the neighborhood! lol) all day. If you need to relax in the air conditioning or just want a chance to hang out in front of the TV, we have three good reasons why you should tonight, so check out what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice

Last season, Rizzoli & Isles left us with kind of a major cliffhanger. Jane told her FBI agent love interest about Maura’s father. Maura went undercover to try to catch the bad guy. Maura’s mob daddy shot the guy before he could hurt her. Jane pointed her gun at mob daddy and told him to drop the weapon. When he raised his gun, seeming like he was going to shoot Jane, Agent Dean, who had surreptitiously followed Jane there, shot him, knocking him back off the platform he was on. So now Maura is mad at Jane, mob daddy is possibly dead or dying, and I bet Jane feels a bit betrayed by secret lover Gabriel Dean. And let’s not forget that shortly before that, Maura’s mother was run down in the street and was in the hospital.

I’ve seen the premiere episode and it pretty much picks up from where the season finale ended. I don’t want to spoil, but I will say if you watched the finale, you won’t want to miss the season premiere. Our favorite weasely ME that isn’t anywhere near as good as Maura is filling in while Maura is off for personal reasons, and he is definitely being himself, which means he’s a bumbling idiot, really. I love this show and I’m so glad it’s back!

On tonight’s episode, “What Doesn’t Kill You,” Jane and Maura’s friendship suffers following the shooting of Maura’s biological father, gangster Paddy Doyle. Jane also finds herself in the middle of an Internal Affairs investigation. And her relationship with Agent Dean is exposed.

Don’t miss it tonight on TNT at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rizzoli & Isles @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, HGTV Design Star, Chopped, the season premiere of Franklin & Bash, & the season finale of No Kitchen Required.
